No, Adam Sandler is the Spawn of Satan. Jim Carrey just wants to be.

I've always found Jim to be a very funny, talented guy. Yeah he can be a bit much if your not into the hyper silliness he drifts into, but I dig 'em.
Sorry Mike, but I can't go with you down that road.

Jim Carrey used to be funny. I love the Mask, Liar Liar, and Man on the Moon. But he's really went downhill. I tried to like Bruce Allmighty but it just didn't click with me.

These threads really digress don't they? Not much to do with the original topic for a while.

Happy Gilmore was redeemed by the guy that played Shooter. He was pretty funny. BTW, Eegah had a cameo role in that movie. You forgot the major redeeming factor, seeing Bob Barker kick Adam Sandler's ass. Tell me you wouldn't pay to see that again!

Okay, I'll admit it. I laughed at the Waterboy. I knew it was a stupid retarded movie, but I couldn't help myself.
BUT, I wont apologise for thinking that the "Wedding Singer" was his one genuinely good film. And that I own it on tape!
There, I said it!!

My views, humbly submitted:
Sandler - liked Happy gilmore and Billy Madison; loved the Hanukkah Songs.
Carrey - LOVED the Truman Show, a pox on all of his other garbage.
I guess they're both better actors than Coleman Francis, though (watching Red Zone Cuba while I reply)

More humble opinions, re: Mr. Sandler
Adam always seems like a nice guy whenever he's on talk shows, and SOME of the stuff he did on SNL was funny-Canteen Boy, Hannukah Song-but his movies just seem awful, to me.
Save Happy Gilmore, the rest of his work just seems so stupidly mean-is it really funny to teach a kid to trip/hurt people you think are lame-ala Big Daddy?
I get that I'm supposed to laugh at people falling down, but the set-up just seems so mean-and it's not like his character learns a "lesson" not to be mean later in the movie, rather he is rewarded-he gets the girl, saves grandma's house, gets to be an uncle to the cute kid, whatever-he's still pretty much a jerk of a character, screaming to get his way, etc.
And BTW-what the hell was Little Nicky supposed to be?
wow, i didn't mean to ramble, sorry-

Happy Gilmore is hilarious. Ben Stiller as the orderly gets funnier every time I watch it. And I agree Shooter MacGavin steals the movie.
Everything else he's done, awful. Painful. Well, basically what everyone else said. Except...
I loved Punch Drunk Love. Whether or not you enjoy P.T. Anderson's films, it's hard to deny that Sandler did an impressive acting job in that movie.

I was told just last night that i'm "Easily Amused". I don't understand how I am easily amused by comedy that is so hard to understand? Must be one of those irony things.

If you found Sid Melton to be a comic genius, THEN you'd be easily amussed. Yeah MST offers up some funny fart comments. Simple, but effective. Yet MSTed movies are also filled to the brim with smart, sharp jokes.
For the "easily amused" most of this stuff would sail right above their heads.
That discription is therefore invalid and again, insulting to you and your ability to be a discerning member of humanity.
Gawd Ator, do you work with complete jackasses or what?

They aren't necessarily jackasses (they are experts in many different fields), but they sure can't choose a good comedy worth a damn. I know for a fact that i'm the only one who has seen Fawlty Towers in my whole shop. THAT is a true sitcom, not this Friends crap. Funny thing is, i'm in the Air Force! I never thought I would meet people like this in such a professional field. I thought they would be a LITTLE more mature than freakin' high school! Oh well, it pays my bills.
