Inspired by reading the "Teenage Caveman" reviews at the MST3K review, mainly Don comenting on those "rainy afternoons" the gang did a skit on in that episode.
Now I couldn't relate to that, I was an introverted kid who drew and I had my music etc (My parents joked that grounding wouldn't work with me, they'd have to force me to go outside and play as punishment)
But one thing that I did realate to was the host segment in "Earth vs the Spider" where Joel talks about thse dangerous toys we had in the 60's.
Now its one thing to say that you've heard about those toys, it's another to have lived through them! And yes, we loved them. They burned and scared us but they were so cool (In fact, I still have a scar that cuts through my left eyebrow, caused by one of those wonderful, dangerous toys from my youth).
That skit will always be a favorite and I probably have a little more fondness for it because I can relate to it.
So, do any of you have a similar story?

I was born in the late 60s (a few years younger than Joel) but can relate to the "pre-cyber" world. The toys, the use of imagination. He mentions Estes rockets which I loved.
I was and am a happy loner. I have more than enough friends (and a great wife), but always spent much time alone with my imagination.

In Wild Wild World of Batwoman when Tom Servo was shouting out "END! END!"
My thoughts exactly.

also, the riff in Wild World of Batwoman "And somehow life goes on." I also was a introverted kid, and continue to be introverted.

When Crow said that he'll never experience joy again in his life after watching Red Zone Cuba which is kind of the same feeling I had after watching that movie.

Another one is in Tormented when Jooel is throwing pop stars off the lighthouse. Geez I loved that because they were all people I would have picked at the time.

These are great to read people. One riff that I could relate to, if you could call it a riff. Was during "Lost Continent".
The characters are climbing rocks as usual, but there's a section were their no talking, no music even, just... climbing and Joel goes ballistic. Just starts yelling at the screen as loud as he can... "Who are you! Where are we! Could we get a frame of reference or something, PLEASE!!!"
Gawd that was just what I was thinking!

A lot of times in the movies where Joel/Mike and the bots just say "Who are you?" in reference to a character who the movies fail to give any rhyme or reason to.For example, that chick in "I Accuse My Parents" who is in the beginning and she and Jimmy get ready to drink. Is she Jimmy's sister? I don't know!

--Joel's how things were in the 60's/70's host segment... --When some sexy woman is go go dancing or there's a catfight and they comment that they don't mind the movie too much --and most importantly perhaps: I have the same first name as one of the Mads so it's always a kick to hear it at particular moments...I always smile because it's about ME ME ME ME ME ME...This is for me:

I don't know! Yeah, my favorite would have to be Fred Buroughs from Future War (in case you weren't paying attention, he was the fat, black guy). "Ladies and Gentlemen, FRED BUROUGHS!"

Half the fun of MST3K is the riffs that you see coming. "I was thinking exactly the same thing". I find the "Who are you?" moments that Gizmo mentioned above often fall into this category. Just an example: In Soultaker you sit through this painful 10 minute opening/establishing sequence of people picking up people in cars and when they arrive at the Summerfest, suddenly there's some random moron in the backseat: Tommy: Hey, this sounds like a real interesting conversation you guys, but I'll check you guys out later. Crow: And since no one knows who I am it won't really matter.
