Earlier today some people were talking about a bad movie that they saw on TV. They said that one of the lame lines went "I want to have killer sex" so the person has sex with the air and chokes to death or something to that affect. I can't remember the movie they said, but I said I thought I knew what movie they were talking about, I thought it might have been Hobgoblins. From all the descriptions it sounded like that movie.
So my question is was that in the movie. If not does anyone recognize that line.

Doesn't sound like Hobgoblins but I haven't seen it recently. I've been trying to on the Discussion game but nobody shows up.

Some say yes, I say no. I think it was a bad choice to riff.

How so? Was it like Hamlet only bad?

Hobgoblins sucked. It was a little like Gremlins, with little kid sound effects and adult subject matter directed by a guy who may have wanted to be John Watters. It was sincerely screwed up. I don't know who the target audience was supposed to be, but my guess is it was guys looking for Playboy soft core but it was all out.
There is a similar line uttered by the virgin guy, I don't think that's exactly it, when the dream girl tries to roll his car off the cliff.
I agree it was a bad choice for a movie.

How so? Was it like Hamlet only bad? From Daddy O's Drive Ib Dirt concerning director Rick Sloan "He personally submitted HOBGOBLINS to BBI for their consideration as an MST3K episode, and they graciously accepted it. They later came to regret their decision." This movie is bad and knows it. It's obvious everybody in the film knows it's a little peice of lightweight crap. I think the best MST movie choices are the one's that try to take themselves seriously. You should see it though to decide for yourself.

You make some good points. It did try to be funny. It's often said that Catalina Caper was the only intentional comedy MST did. But Hob was a comedy, just a putrid one.

But I still say it was a bad choice.

you should see it again. It's a classic ep...again IMO. I've been trying to see it again for weeks now in the discussion game but no one shows up.

what time is it where you live? You mean what time is it here at the moment or what time does the games starts here? I'm Pacific time. There is some comfusion as to when the gamse starts. On your Resd First post I think it says 9 AM but elsewhere it says 10 AM. Or the other way around.

I don't know how it can be a bad choice for a movie if it allowed for a lot of funny riffs. Which I felt it did.
I feel (personally) "Catalina Caper" flounders because it doesn't provide a lot of laughs. The "White kids rule the world" jokes get really old after a while, and weren't that brilliant to begin with. But the jabs shot at Hobgoblins are varied, frequent and funny.
Just my humble opinion.
As for the discssion game, Saturday's turn into family time. I've thought about playing but then we go out and get some sun or whatever and I just haven't been able to make it.

Why do you find it a bad choice to riff? I think it made a hilarious episode, but I'll agree with you on the "bad choice" thing if you mean it as "they shouldn't have honored that douche bag, Rick Sloan, by putting it on MST3K" (which really is an honor). The Best Brains people should have taken his tape, formed a circle, urinated on it and then set Sloane on fire.
