I saw a boxset at best buy that was definately a PD movie set and there were 3 Gamera films on it that were shown on MST. Two of them being Gamera and Gamera Vs. Gaos. I can't remember the other one though.

I can't remember the other one though. There are tons of assuming-PD Gamera DVDs out there (Diamond put out Zigra and the international dub/Sandy Frank version of Gaos.. the quality is worse than EP VHS though).

You expect Diamond entertainment to have a good product? haha
They put out Lucio Fulci's House by the Cemetary the way it was released on video with the reels switched. It's hilarious to watch.
Also Diamond is an all PD company (it evern says it on their website) so that meaning those eps may be easier to get than we thought.

Maybe I'm wrong about this, but it seems like your new list is a lot more promising than the old list. Is there a reason for this? Have most of them actually become more likely, or - and I certainly don't mean to say that you're bad at this or don't know what you're doing - are you perhaps just being too optimistic? I just remember seeing a lot more "unlikely"s in the old one. Just curious.

Maybe I'm wrong about this, but it seems like your new list is a lot more promising than the old list. Is there a reason for this? Yes, mostly because of my through research. The previous list made assumptions with movies involving Roger Corman, Bert I Gordon and Robert Lippert. The fact is, these directors/producers didn't usually get ownership of the movies. And negative assumptions in general. I don't think episode popularity has anything to do with Rhino's choices. It's also important to look at what DVDs have been released, and any VHS releases in the past (to find out who has, had or could have the home video rights). Have most of them actually become more likely, or - and I certainly don't mean to say that you're bad at this or don't know what you're doing - are you perhaps just being too optimistic? I just remember seeing a lot more "unlikely"s in the old one. Just curious. Again, research on each of the titles helps a lot. Media Blasters got the home video rights to Incredibly Strange Creatures, and was able to sublicense it to Rhino. This surprised the hell out of us (including me!). Likewise, Blue Underground may be able to license Fu Manchu to Rhino in the same way. It depends on the deal they made with the rights holders. And, Rhino could likely get the rights for Parts the Clonus Horror in the same manner. When the movies are with smaller companies, there is a much greater chance of seeing episodes getting released. Either the companies won't charge much, are glad to get money for their crappy movies, or just dig MST3k in the first place. Some of the movies have become more likely, and will continue to become more likely. Rights holders may find dealing with Rhino a lot better than Comedy Central or the Scifi Channel. I'm not being too optimistic (look at my views on Megalon getting released), just being logical. Also Diamond is an all PD company (it evern says it on their website) so that meaning those eps may be easier to get than we thought. I'm surprised Kadakowa hasn't tried to stop all of these PD releases, seeing as Bill Ferguson/Neptune Media haven't done a damn thing in years. Rhino would want to go the legit route, but they might be "scared off" from those episodes already. SF wouldn't be a problem (though they might ask for his 'blessing' anyway).

Maybe I missed it, but who is Susan Hart, and why is she hoarding bad movies?

Maybe I missed it, but who is Susan Hart, and why is she hoarding bad movies? She's the widow of James Nicholson, co-founder of AIP. She owns a good chunk of the early AIP cheapies, while the Arkoff Estate owns another big chunk.

Interesting. Thanks for doing the research. It's nice to know that a lot more episodes could be released.

I didn't know AIP owned more than Space Mutiny. As VanHagar said, a totally different AIP. There's the original AIP & AIP-TV (American International Pictures). The one created by Nicholson/Arkoff. Then Action International Pictures:www.imdb.com/company/co0146287/These are the guys that did Space Mutiny. Bless 'em. Then AIP Home Video: www.imdb.com/company/co0062614/This company made The Final Sacrifice and Soultaker. And A.I.P. Home Video, Inc.: www.imdb.com/company/co0078630/Interesting. Thanks for doing the research. It's nice to know that a lot more episodes could be released. You're welcome. As long as the Rhino sets sell well enough, we'll get a good chunk of the series released to DVD for sure. Just for fun, here's my notes for Volume 10: Godzilla vs. Megalon I've gone in to this one in-depth in another thread. Swamp Diamonds aka Swamp Women[/i] PD. <EXTREMELY LIKELY> Teenage Strangler Something Weird Video. <LIKELY> The Giant Spider Invasion Bill Rebane/Transcentury Pictures. Retromedia released this to DVD (which is out of print). BCI has released this to DVD twice, I don't know if they're assuming PD. The movie is not PD though. <EXTREMELY LIKELY>
