this is just where I'm going to vent about crappy shows being on TV while MST3K is homeless.
Right now what I can think of is the new 'Saturday Night Live'. It absolutely sucks. I miss the days of Farley, Spade and even Sandler. At least they had some personality, this has nothing.

One day, I hope we can have a world where I can turn on the TV without Frankie Muniz ugly face staring at me while he's trying to be funny.

The only things that were good today on TV were things on TV Land and the History Channel. Also I think one movie on a premium channel. Otherwise, TV is pretty dead. MST3K is great, but I can't have a Turkey Day Marathon every weekend.
I just finished watching AFV just because Trace Beaulieu is a writer for the show. I wish someone would start a network just for major TV geeks, like me because I'm sick of all the poopie on TV today.
I'll bitch more tomorrow.

TV shows in America have to appeal to the Lowest Common denominator, that's were they get a lot of their ratings. The only good shows on TV are CSI and Stargate SG1 and that's about it. It makes me long for the glory days of Television, when we had TV shows like MST3K and Star Trek TNG, those were the days.

I gave up on TV a long time ago. The only things I watch on TV anymore are South Park, Chapelle Show, Daily Show, Who's line is it anyway?, and baseball games. And I only watch those at work!

What about the Office? That is one funny show, for it is made by British people. It didn't win two Golden Globes for nothing!!!
But there isn't much on TV. So, thusly, we must retreat to the wonderful world of DVD.

Lizzie McGuire, what an awful show. I hate this unrealistic teenage crap. If you wanted a real show about teenaggers all it is beer, pot, sleep. Not some 50's retro redux where the Cheerleader are the most popular. I just flipped it on remembering that I watched it once with my niece. I can't believe this poopie is on every day and MST3K may never see the airwaves again? Hey isn't that one of the signs of the apocalypse?

Indeed it is a sign of the apocalypse and I also agree with you that Lizzie McGuire is poopie. Speaking of which some guy I know says that Hillary Duff is his favorite actor. When he said this I said to him " Dude are you out of your mind? ". Tis such a crazy world we live it

The new reality shows, the Sci-Fi original movies, the pain! The pain of every show on!

Let's look at the facts. Most of America is not stupid, they just lack imagination and are unwilling to suspend their disbeliefs for any moment of time. This is why great shows such as MST3K can't survive any longer, and why shows such as the pig droppings that is 'Friends' flourishes (I still have yet to get more laughs out of a season of Friends then an episode of MST3K).
However, if you want true entertainment, specifically in the comedy arena, then I suggest pointing your noggin across the pond. Britain has had, pound for pound, the best shows out there. Blackadder was superbly written and performed and Red Dwarf uses brilliant ideas blending them without flaw with gifted and funny actors. Then you have some of the 'lesser' Britcoms such as The Young Ones, Fawlty Towers, etc. But even the lesser of their is still beyond comparison to our highest rated shows (which are usually ripped-off, watered down versions of their British counterparts. Anyone ever watched the original British version of 'Who's Line Is It Anyway?'? Much funnier, though they had pretty much the same cast.
What it boils down to is the ratings and sales produced from the lowest common denominator of the intelligence-lacking public viewers. It boggles my mind that shows such as The Simpsons and MST3K stayed as long as they have/did (bless those all involved with those shows!).
"But there's a Mantis in my Pantis!"

I agree with DeadlyMantis all the way. The only place with good, genuine humor is England. Red Dwarf, Chef, Fawlty Towers, Monty Python, etc...all really good comedies. Even the car show "Top Gear" is hilarious!

MST featured lots of Fawlty Towers and Monty Python references. Kevin Murphy has mentioned FT as the funniest sitcom ever.

Just and FYI: I've been conversing with Robert Llewellyn (Kryten from Red Dwarf) back and forth for some time now. It seems that Red Dwarf the movie is indeed underway. The only thing stopping it now is the retraction of funding, which has happened in the past.
BTW - You would think that some studio exec's would fund another MST3K movie. Think about it. The cost of production, movie rights, writing, actors and advertisements would only add up to about a million dollars (I make this assumption based off of the cost of their first movie, and the assumed cost of a season). This is chump change for major studios. I know corporate philosophy doesn't allow for minimal profits, but it seems to me that it would pay off in spades. After theatrical release and video sales it would probably earn upwards of ten million. Perhaps even more now that there is no 'at home' outlet for our comical drug of choice.
So to all of you exec's out there: Make a profit. Make another MST3K flick!
