Sort of. I'm going to the Art Institute of California San Francisco working my way through the early stages of the game art and design program.

Did you always want to do that or did you change your mind a lot?
I wanted to be a veteranarian for the longest time, but now I don't know...

I always wanted to do something creative, but I never knew what. I finally just had to go with something. I don't really know that I've made the right choice. I'm a much better designer than I am an artist, and this program is art heavy.

What, like interior designer?
You can work on Trading Spaces!
Not that I watch that show...actually, TLC is one of Ryan's favorite channels, along with HGTV (Home and Garden Channel)
I never let him watch either when I was over at his house.
Okay, I'll stop now...
I wanted to do something creative too, I used to draw all the time, but now I seem to have a knack for foreign language. Being a veteranarian lost its appeal after I saw my cat's conjuctivitis...I didn't want to be around that kind of thing all day.

He watched TLC and HGTV? I guess there's something watchable on TLC every now and then, maybe, but not home and garden. Not for a guy.
Interestingly though, you can take interior design at that same school. Certainly something I'd never do. By design I mean story and character creation, plot development, etc.
I could never do the whole veteranary thing. I think the profession almost contradicts the love for animals that vets and aspiring vets seem to have. If you love animals so much you're not going to want to see them suffering and dying all the time. I know the appeal is to have a chance to save and help animals, but isn't a big part of the job putting pets to sleep? I'd be chronically depressed with such a job.

Definetly no HGTV for guys.
Oh, okay character and story design...you want to work on video games or animated movies? I always thought it would be fun to work at Pixar.
I could never be responsible for an animal dying in my operating room, I think that would devastate me, and to have to tell the owners that their pet died, I just don't think I could do that...which I why I decided to study Spanish...I think my family was disappointed.

The current plan is video games, but it doesn't matter to me. Animation would be just as rewarding. I chose my path though and now I have to stick with it.
Rough decision with the vet job. Probably the same one I would have made.
Okay, so no HGTV for guys. The weird thing about that rule though is that if a girl wanted to watch all the same crap I watch, being MST3K, ESPN and South Park, I'd be in heaven!

I could go for the MST3K and South Park, but not ESPN...
Well, I guess if a guy really wanted to watch something on HGTV and he had a good reason like, he was putting tile in the bathroom and there was a special on tile on HGTV that would be okay. But I am not going to sit there and watch 3 hours of HGTV. I wouldn't force a guy to watch "What not to wear" or "Who wants to marry my dad." Suprisingly, I did get into a reality TV show last summer, last comic standing, but I haven't seen the new season...what ever happened to Dat Phan?

I'm not into reality TV at all. I was into Survivor for a while back when it was new, and I'm embarrassed to admit that much. I only watched it for the vote at the end which I absolutely loved at the time. It was almost like an execution. The person was gone never to be heard from again.
But whatever. I'm over that. I don't watch much TV now, besides sports, which I understand you not being to big on.

I'm sure I would be more interested in sports if my family was into that kind of thing...I like to play tennis, but that's about it, I also did horse-back riding all the time when I was younger, but I haven't done that in forever (last time was sophomore year)
My brother is a surfer, my grandparents play tennis... We never watched football or baseball together, and so I never really got into it (Mary's family is big on sports) Sometimes I wish I was more passionate about it, you know, had a favorite team, or whatever so I could talk to people about it...it's a good conversation starter.

True, it can make some pretty fun, however meaningless conversation. Still, if you're not into it you're not into it. I grew up on certain teams (49ers, Giants, Kings) and now I live and die with them when I watch them play. I'm especially big on football. They only play 16 games per season as opposed to baseball's 162, so every play really matters.

Are you one of those people who wear the jerseys and sit on the couch with a bucket of popcorn and a beer, and jump up and down and yell at the TV when something doesn't go the way you wanted it to? Do you paint your face in the team's colors and have a giant, foam finger?

Nah, I'm not that fanatic. Still, if someone can have a great time going through all that crazy crap, more power to 'em.

I don't think I could ever get that worked up over a game on TV. I do get fanatical when MST3K comes on, Mary and I sing along to the theme song, quote the movie...laugh hysterically, roll around on the floor, rewind and watch scenes over again. Her brother doesn't like to watch the show with us because we're so loud when we watch it...and he gets really upset if we're quoting it and mess up a word.

MST3K is an entirely different experience for me. Generally, I just watch it by myself late at night from the comfort of my bed. Sometimes I'll start to doze off during an episode which is okay.
I have watched the show with friends before but this doesn't make the show better for me. I like being able to pause, stop, and rewind without worrying about a guest's preferences. The show is just comfortable for me to watch. It's a gentle, easygoing kind of fun that doesn't require too much thought.
