I know I'm probably the only one here who cares about baseball, but the playoffs are the playoffs.
So vote above for who you think will win the World Series. Or for who you want to win. Or for which city you like. Or for the team with the coolest uniforms. I don't care. Just vote.
Then, post who you think will win each series. Here are the matchups:
AL: Red Sox at White Sox Yankees at Angels
NL: Padres at Cardinals Astros at Braves
To sweeten the deal, I'll throw in a couple "skyroniter specials" for whomever picks the most winners.

Based solely on loyalty, I'm backing the WHITE Sox for the whole sehbang. It may not be reasonable, but I love the Oz man.

Anybody but the Red Sox as far as I'm concerned. Anyway my picks.
White Sox over Red Sox (3-2) Angels over Yankees (3-1)
Cardinals over Padres (Sweep) Astros over Braves (3-2)
Angels over White Sox (4-2) Cardinals over Astros (4-2)
Cardinals over Angels (4-2)
I picked the Cards last year and was wrong but I think they're a much better team this year. Plus, the focus hasn't been on them as much as it's been on the other teams the past few weeks, so I think that the lack of pressure will be a good thing for them going into the playoffs. Go Cards!

For the first time in MANY years I gave up on watching baseball (Which happens to be my favorite sport) when the Twins clearly gave up in July. I endured their losing years (Which was eight straight seasons after '92) without ever turning my back on them, but this season I have to (somewhat ashamedly) admit I snapped. I felt they had it in 'em to not only make the playoffs this year, but I honestly felt we could possibly make our first World Series appearance since '91 as long as the bats could keep us in the games. I knew we had the pitching (And wasn't wrong), but we needed the bats and they were nonexistent. I've never had such high hopes with a team (in any sport) crushed so badly and I have to say I am shocked that I followed through with my "I'm done" for once...I have hope for next season but I will NEVER forget how frustrating this season was for me. That being said I will now answer the question. Thanks for letting me vent For the first time in many years I haven't watched a lick of baseball since July, so I am absolutely clueless where certain teams are sitting at the moment. I will take a stab in the dark (Especially since a Skyronter Especial is on the line!) and hope for the best. A.L. Red Sox over White Sox (And may the White Sox burn in hell....I'm not bitter, honest.) Yankees over Angels (Because they are like roaches.) N.L. Cardinals over Padres Astros over Braves (Since I hate the Braves it feels good to pick against them and make it interesting at the same time.) A.L. Championship: Red Sox over Yankees (Cementing the fact that there is no curse and Steinbrenners $$$/LUCK has finally run dry.) N.L. Championship: Cardinals over Astros World Series: Cardinals over Red Sox (They were embarassed last year and are out for revenge. Maybe some complete idiots will claim that the curse is "back on" after this happens...)

For all you who are picking the Cardinals, here's some food for thought. Brought to you by a Cub fan:
Like last year, the best 2 pitchers hit the wall in late August. Chris Carpenter and Matt Morris absolutely sucked in September. They both pitched way too many innings, and have no gas left for the playoffs.
Also like last year, everyone who thinks Jeff Suppan and Jason Marquis can win a game with the season on the line, raise your hand. Uh-huh. That leaves Mark Mulder, who has a history of choking in the playoffs with the A's.
Add to that no Scott Rolen, a hurting Larry Walker, and their best relief pitcher (Reyes) is out for the year. Oh yeah, their setup man is Julian "Headcase" Tavarez and Jason Isringhausen is their closer. Let me repeat: Jason Isringhausen is their closer.
They should get by an inept Padre team, but they'll have a hard time against a real team after that. And it'll be fun to watch them crash and burn again.
You're right, Melt. It feels good to rant. Man, I hate the Cardinals.

The Braves.
Not that I think they will win it, but that's my favorite team. Man, Baseball used to be my favorite sport. I used to collect the cards and just knew everything about it. I remember when the Braves won in 95, that was insane for me. At the time it was one of the greatest thing ever. I totally lost it.
And now I couldn't tell you half the starting lineup of the Braves. In fact the playoffs and the world series are the only time I watch baseball now.

That was fun, wasn't it?
But I feel bad for Matt Clement. He's a better pitcher than that. I think the line drive he took to the head in June really messed him up. It's too bad. I met him when he was a Cub and he's a really nice guy.
