That was fun, wasn't it? But I feel bad for Matt Clement. He's a better pitcher than that. I think the line drive he took to the head in June really messed him up. It's too bad. I met him when he was a Cub and he's a really nice guy. As long as the White Sox make me forget about what happened in September (except for the last couple seasons), then I won't switch a become a Cubs fan.

Hey, DW! How 'bout them Sox? You know, I don't even care. The Red Sox folded like a cheap suit and blew the AL East, that was all I cared about. Would have been nice to have the Yankees not in the playoffs too, but it just doesn't matter. I got my World Series win last year, I can be happy for another few as long as they remain competitive.

I'm going with the White Sox for the World Series. I think it will go something...like...this:
White Sox beat Red Sox Yankees beat Angels
White Sox beat Yankees (I hope. The damn Yankees are really strong at the right time.)
Cardinals beat Padres Astros beat Braves
Astros beat Cardinals
White Sox beat Astros

It certainly helps to have seen the first game in 3 of the series before making picks...I picked the Angels, for god's sake!

We shall see. At the beginning of the playoffs I picked the Red Sox to win the World Series last year. Many doubted me then (not on the board, but in real life). I'm not as convinced that the Astros will make it to the Series, it could just as easily be the Cardinals or Braves. But the winner of the World Series will either be the White Sox or Yankees. I stand by my picks. Let's see, which team had a blow-out victory yesterday 14-2....hm...?

Except for the Cardinals, the White Sox have the best record. I don't understand why there's such a low expectation for them. When they were winning everyone said that they were playing better than they were (which is something I don't understand). They had a slump in September. Fine. But otherwise, why don't they have a shot?

Oh, and my picks are not based on yesterday's results. I just haven't been on the board to see this thread until today. Judging by the final week of the regular season, the Red Sox lost steam and the White Sox proved to be strong, sweeping the Indians. The Yankees are either the best or second best team in the game right now. I follow the Mariners, so I see a lot of the AL West teams and I know the Angels have holes.
Like I said, not so sure of the NL side. I'm just going with my gut there. I believe the Astros pitching is strongest of the NL.

But otherwise, why don't they have a shot? They won all those games on 2 arms: Garland's and Buehrle's. Both guys faded down the stretch. Badly. They burned out their best pitchers and have no relief pitchers (just like the Cardinals**). Contreras is on a roll, so they have a shot, since Ozzie was smart enough to pitch him in game 1. **I mean, did you see the job Isringhausen did yesterday in the 9th? He let an 8-2 lead dwindle and put the winning run on first before finally getting out of it. If I were a Cardinal fan (and thank the good Lord I'm not), I'd be having a Fred Sanford-level heart attack every time LaRussa picked up the bullpen phone.

Uh oh, she's getting into those double entendres again. I thought the Red Sox could steal this series from the ChiSox, but last night didn't exactly up my optimism. Mr. Atari basically summed up why I don't think the ChiSox will win the big one this year. I haven't been convinced by that team all season, now they have the chance to really prove it to me.
