We shall see. At the beginning of the playoffs I picked the Red Sox to win the World Series last year. Many doubted me then (not on the board, but in real life). I'm not as convinced that the Astros will make it to the Series, it could just as easily be the Cardinals or Braves. But the winner of the World Series will either be the White Sox or Yankees. I stand by my picks. Let's see, which team had a blow-out victory yesterday 14-2....hm...? It was one game and means nothing as far as I'm concerned. The White Sox always manage to find a way to shoot themselves in the foot and I hope to hell they do it yet again They have been the biggest whiners in baseball for the past few years, so I would love to see them fall on their faces in the playoffs.

They have been the biggest whiners in baseball for the past few years As a Cubs fan, I take umbrage at that remark. Compared to us, White Sox fans don't know from whining. In our rivalry, they're just jerks. We're the whiners. My dad called yesterday and asked who I would cheer for if the worst possible scenario happened: White Sox & Cardinals in the series. It's like asking me who should win in a Chiefs-Raiders game. But I would cheer for the Sox, if only so their fans could stop comparing themselves to us-- the real tortured fans. And if the Cardinals never win another series it'll be too soon.

And if the Cardinals never win another series it'll be too soon. I was referring to the players, definitely not the fans. They have made excuses for the past few years for their failure to win the division, and have downplayed the fact that the Twins were simply a better team. I have found some of the remarks certain White Sox players have made about the Twins in the past couple seasons (NOT this season) to be nothing more than jealous remarks by sore losers. I respect Ozzie Guillen quite a bit and I hope the fact that they finally did win the division this year is due to the fact that he has kept their attitudes in check. If not and they lose, you can bet the big mouths over there will be flapping with every excuse/insult in the book...

And to be completely serious, I never understood how in baseball in particular, groups of fans get stereotyped. Aren't we really talking about certain sports radio commentators and the sports bar idiots who just parrot whatever they say? Anyway, last night Chicago won. Tonight, Boston lost. In the end, though, we're still up 2.

Just win one more Chi Sox... one more. Then I really won't care who wins even though I'd prefer the Cards to pull it all off.

Congrats, Mummi.
And DW, I'm not very good at trash talking, but I believe the phrase has something to do with "it" and your eating of said "it".

So we're out of the playoffs, big deal. Of course I hate to lose, but the ChiSox were the better team, it's that simple. I still don't see them winning it all, but I'm a bit more convinced of them as a team.
Since I accidentally deleted my earlier post with picks for the playoffs, here's how they went:
BoSox over ChiSox, wrong Angels over Yankees Cards over Pads Astros over Braves
Angels over BoSox, now over ChiSox Cards over Braves
Cards over Angels
