Set your DVRs! ZAAT (Blood Waters of Dr. Z) is on Turner Classic Movies tonight at 2am. I don't think I've ever seen this one broadcast on TV before. Gah! I saw that one and knew the name but couldn't remember where I knew it from and thus skipped over it in favor or watching Coffin Joe's Hostel of Naked Pleasure (Not as dirty as it sound. More like a Horror movie on acid.) now wish I had watched this.

For those wondering, ZaAt falls under TCM's Underground cinema category. MST3K edited some of this movie for time. It makes a little more sense, although, still no visible cracker mom. Notable extended scenes are: a hippie sit down revival song jamboree, town evacuation, the great fish uprising, bathing beauty dunked into acid, and additional INPIT information. At one point, in the Sheriff's office, a few people are complaining about the Sheriff's lack of effort. During this short discussion, one guy calls the Sheriff a n-lover. I kid you not. It floored me. I know it's the south but man, it came out of left field. I thought I was hearing things. HD color and sound were gorgeous, the best ever. Aspect ratio was a 4:3 crop. Was ZaAt distributed in wide screen? Getting back to ZaAt's uncut scenes, why did the hippies get cut in MST3K? Jamie DeFrates sings "Runnin' Don't Make You Free" as hippies approve. The Sheriff also approves and subsequently jails them for their own protection, of course. It is a classic scene with a "California Lady" feel to it. The catfish army do invade through inter cuts. A giant? fish knocks over a plastic miniature fence, another MST3K cut lost forever. INPIT agents Walker Stevens and Martha Walsh are the Mulder and Scully of their time. Somehow, I missed this factoid in MST3K. For what's it's worth, I find Martha Walsh to be far more attractive than Dana Scully. Take that FBI. INPIT all the way... Speaking of beautiful females, besides Doc Leopold killing the doomed Girl Camper, he dips her into a vat of acid in the floor of his laboratory. Strange thing, for Doc Leopold that is, he tests the vat with a fish. One plot point missed in MST3K, our band of heroes knew about some of Doc Leopold's history way in advance. They even wanted to use the "abandoned" lab. Instead, they would rather use a the tennis nets. Aside from the racial slur, ZaAt was alright and you should check it out if it's ever on Turner again.

If you're a Canadian insomniac with access to CHCH out of Hamilton, Santa Claus Conquers the Martians is on at 2:00 AM on the 24th. Enjoy less than 5 hours notice.

And there may have been more.

Not quite on TV, but I just found out the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh is showing "The Amazing Transparent Man" in its theater on Friday, June 4th. I wouldn't be able to make it, but I thought it was very interesting all the same. They really should show it back to back with the MST3K episode, or at least with the uncut "Days of Our Years" playing first. ;D

I saw that during my channel surfing. ^^^^ Heh. Just couldn't bring myself to watch it without the riffing. Though, overall it's not really that bad of a movie.

Tormented is on RTV right now, on Wolfman Mac's Chiller Drive-In. I wish I still had this channel. I had it for a while, then Comcast took it off and replaced it with an ALL PAID-FOR ADVERTISEMENT channel! Why would we want to have that?!

The cable company may have it with HD channels the channel Retro is sub for is on 10, Retro is 1080 on my system. If they don't carry it probably is a sub channel for one of your local stations could get it with antenna and digital converter if you TV isn't digital.
