Don't know if anyone's mentioned it yet, but Nukie would be a good film to riff. It's a horrendous ET ripoff that I had the misfortune of seeing once. It makes Pod People look like Casablanca.

I would imagine that MST3K would have trouble getting the rights to riff those Toho movies, lately that have been pretty fast to sue people or even flag reviews on their movies on YouTube.....otherwise I would have also suggested the incoherent mess that was Gunhed (1989), alas I find that very unlikely!

Shout could probably license King Kong vs. Godzilla and King Kong Escapes, as Universal owns the rights to the English versions.

Personally, I'd like to see some more black and white, presumably from the 1940's and 50's. Seeing all color movies got a little annoying after awhile, and this is an issue I had with KTMA.

It wasn't a huge issue for me this season, particularly given that this was a warmup season for the new guys. In season 1 the colour episodes usually tended to be the ones with the stronger riffing. However now that I think things will be more back into full next season, I think they should have more black and white movies in episodes, and shorts! I mean season 11 was a good start but with a bit more variety they have the potential to be as strong as they were in their peak!

Just a question for you lot, do you think they can get non-widescreen movies into the show as long as they crop or stretch the picture to fit into the aspect ratio? I know it'll make the picture quality look worse than it is, but it'll be necessary if they want to do the occasional obscure black-and-white movie now and again, or even a made-for-TV movie for that matter.
Besides, there were some Season 11 movies like The Beast of Hollow Mountain (which was a Cinemascope production) and Yongary that were originally in 2.33:1, but were cropped down to remove the sight of black bars.

One word, "curtains". Seriously curtains on either side of the screen would solve the problem without the need for stretching the video to make it look horrible.
