There is a 90% chance I will be able to go. I can hardly believe it! To actually talk about Mst3k with people who love it as much as I do and won't put it down. That really means a lot to me. I'm saving up for the trip but a $140.00 hotel is very pricey for me. Would you guys consider $80.00-100.00 hotel. That would fit my budget better. Also I prefer the city to the suburbs (it's my Chicago-blood) but I'll certianly go wherever it will be.

Is there anyone here in the Colorado Springs area, which is an hour and a half away? Chances are that will be the place where I land. My brother is there but I'm unclear about the chances of him being allowed off-base at a particular time. I was thinking about driving, but more than half a day there and the same back seems unbearable. If I could find someone generous enough to carpool and possibly stay with, this will save me some money. I'm a courteous guest and am totally, 100%, absolutely NOT a killer who trolls message boards about cable TV puppet shows. Honest.

I'll probably be getting a midsized rental so I can probably take 3 or 4 people to stuff once they are at the hotel.

I've discussed this with Mary Jo and we would like to attend, if possible. Neither one of us has ever been to Denver, and I can't think of a better reason to visit!

Ok, not to be an utter suck-up, but if Mary Jo Pehl is going to attend the meet-up, I will[/b] be going, come hell or high water, or whatever.

Well, don't I feel especially unfortunate now. I hope she realizes that they'll probably be watching a bunch of MST episodes. I mean, I don't know how she is about watching her work. It seems like most Brains don't really seem too enthused with watching the show.

It seems like most Brains don't really seem too enthused with watching the show. You're right, Hugh Beaumont, she usually doesn't care to watch episodes, although I occasionally get her to watch a few with me (and, on rare occasions, she actually solicits ME to watch one with HER!) It's far more usual for us to just riff current movies. And, as I've said many-a-time, if her wickedly fast riffing is any indication of what the writing room was like back in the day, I would have LOVED to be a fly on the wall. And, regardless of the Vortex interview, she and I DID riff 'The Sound of Music' (which she had categorized as a movie that absolutely shouldn't receive the MST3K treatment) and it was hilarious.

My daughter loves "The Sound of Music", and I riff it every time. I've always felt that there needs to be one more song towards the end. A nice up-tempo, driving number sung by the nuns, "Here Come the Nazis!" As for RAD and Mary Jo joining us, I love the idea! However, I feel somewhat strongly that we need to keep this a fun hang-out time of like-minded people, and not turn it into a convention. That way, RAD and Mary Jo can join us for dinner & drinks and not feel like she has to be "on" all weekend.

WOW!! You hear that, guys?!? Mary Jo at our Meet-Up?!?!?!? ;D Great News! Wow! That would be great! I'd love to meet a real live member of the cast! Wow. I DARE any body part to fail on me now! I agree we should keep this on a casual level. MaryJo and RAD don't have to watch episodes with us if they don't want to. However, it might be fun if you bring along the "Sound of Music" and we all get to enjoy it together in our own special way. Hehehe.
