It's been said before, but it's worth saying again:

I am there, and I will consider ground transportation to be Dr. Z's trunk. RAD, you live in Austin? Seems like there are alot of us MSTies here in ATX. Mitchell, Mary Jo and I both live in Austin now. We love it here!

I've discussed this with Mary Jo and we would like to attend, if possible. I'm still not going.

You know, if I would have had to pick who would come to a meet-up first: Ratso or one of the Brains, I'd have picked correctly.

However, it might be fun if you bring along the "Sound of Music" and we all get to enjoy it together in our own special way. Hehehe. Now yer talkin'!!! You know, if I would have had to pick who would come to a meet-up first: Ratso or one of the Brains, I'd have picked correctly. LOL!!

Sorry to be so late joining in the planning. I was vomiting. I had planned on going Greyhound-way cheaper from just Omaha to Denver. But depending on what my cash situation is by that point, I'd be happy to rent a car too. Or even better, a few of us could go in together on a vehicle too. Perhaps first in to pick up the car picks up everyone else. I also vote suburbs for a hotel. I'd rather spend less on a hotel and more towards a rental car. Then we can go anywhere we want whenever we want. I definitely want a mountain trip and Casa Bonita. I like the idea of going to the art museum too. Anybody up for a trip to the Natural History Museum? I vaguely remember it being very cool. I would also enjoy an evening where I lose more brain cells to heavy alcohol consumption in various drinking establishments. I will have a stern talk with my immune system about no more colds during Meet-Ups, and alcohol actually helps my migraines (sad, really). Should we get "definite attendees" and "potential attendees" lists going? I'll do it if everyone PMs me (I can't get to the poll ).

Thanks for the info siamese.
I like the idea of a shared rental car.
It looks like the idea of a suburban hotel is winning out. With some goodwill and creativity, I think everyone's ground transportation can be worked out.
I'll start working on finding the best place for us in the suburbs. I live in the southeast suburbs, and downtown Denver is about a 20 minute drive for me. Godo's idea of the West Side is also a good one, since it's closer to the mountains and Casa Bonita.
I'll report back shortly.

I thought with a shared rental we wouldn't all get boinked by the cost. It worked very well for touring through Eastern PA last year too. I'm also flexible on sharing a hotel room if anyone wants to help cut the cost that way. I do snore.

Here's another hotel option. It's about 5 minutes from my house, and it looks like a lot of hotel for the money. It's also very close to some good restaurants, and about 15 minutes from downtown Denver. I got a quote for $85 a night. That's before any group rates. They don't have a free shuttle to the airport, but I can help with that, since it's on my end of town. What do you think, sirs?

Looks decent. I like the idea of staying in Aurora. I've got old family friends in Aurora I'd love to visit during that weekend.
Then again, I could go more white trash. I am not adverse to a good ol' Super 8.

Now Frank please hand me my invention called The-reduce-the-hotel-price-to-thiryfive-dollars-a night manipulating machine. It is also known as a hammer. You apply it directly to the hotel manager's face. That's all there is to it. Sorry...I just had to use that opening. Anyway those plans sounds good to me Atari.

Then again, I could go more white trash. I am not adverse to a good ol' Super 8. If that's your thing, there are a couple options right across the highway from this one. A Quality Inn, a Comfort Inn, and Extended Stay place, and I think one more. In my research, I saw that one person had reviewed the Quality Inn by mentioning holes in the sheets and bloodstains on the curtains. Is that white trash enough for you? For my money, I'd rather pay the extra 10 or 20 bucks a night and have less blood stains. But I get to sleep at home with my wife, so whatever y'all want.

Here's my route... My intention is to find a camping spot where I can park the family, and then head to the meet-up. I will have a Chevy Tahoe (4WD); and, once I drop them, will be happy to shuttle others. I believe it sits 6-8 adults.

CBG, how much of a drive are you expecting/hoping for between campsite and meet-up?
I'd really love to find a nice place near the mountains for you, but if we're in Aurora, that could be upwards of an hour to and from.

I'm not opposed to driving - especially if it will help anybody- but an hour to/from site/meet-up seems extreme. I don't know the area, so I will trust in your foresight.
