1. Manos: Just a classic episode, one of the funniest i'd ever seen. I remember actually watching this one twice on the same day because of how ridiculously funny it was.
2. The Day the Earth Froze: Not only is the short probably my favorite short of all time, but the riffing on the movie itself is just fantastic. I occurs to me I've only seen this movie once so far. I really need to rewatch it.
3. Mitchell: One of my favorite episodes, but not at first. Initially I didn't like it as much as I thought I would, but after a second viewing I fell in love with it. A great Farewell episode, and a classic in my book.
4. Skydivers: My favorite Mike episode of them all. The riffing on the movie is just perfect, and the movie is just so BAD!
5. The Painted Hills: Yessir, i'm gonna buy me a montage! A very funny episode, though the movie was a little depressing.

Again sorry for dredging up an old thread, but I had to think pretty hard about this top 5 thing, which to me meant that it was worth posting when I finally figured it out.
1. Track of the Moon Beast My favorite episode ever. I've heard a lot of negative reviews from fans, which I don't really get. Or maybe it's Servo I don't get... but then again, nobody does, he's the wind, baby. Anyway. Moon Beast. My friend and I would stay up all night re-enacting the entire movie with a flashlight and a laser pointer, making weird shadow puppet-type things on my ceiling (um, don't ask), and with the same friend I even made a Monopoly board dedicated to this movie with properties ranging from "Old Guys' Tent" and "Drunken Bowler's House" to "Indian Reservation." My only complaint is that the host segment with Servo shooting the satellite is pretty stupid. The re-enactment of the lame practical joke cracks me up to no end, and I can't think of any riff that ISN'T worth quoting. Paul's constant need to be shirtless, his sudden need to eat a tent full of old guys... being stuck to the chaise lounge (*krrrrrrrrrrrr*!). Kathy's horrible acting ("Moon rock? Oh wow!"), her "JC Penney hooker-wear," and of course, Johnny Longbow and his Indian stew, his Indian legends, his slide show... living up to his name ("Woah!! Get the kids out of the room!")... killing Paul with "not just any arrow... a REALLY GOOD arrow!" (wouldn't shooting him with more moon rock make him STRONGER? whatever...) Oh, and Pearl referring to M&tB as "Mike, Crow, Snack" is one of my favorite things ever.
2. Pod People A classic, obviously. I'm still not sure what's going on what with all the fog, and how Movies A, B, and C all connect, and what gender Tommy is supposed to be. I'm also not too clear on why the aliens make markings of the Big Dipper on their victims' foreheads... even if that's where the aliens are from, as Trumpy indicates to the annoying little girly-voiced boy. I mean, making a Big Dipper marking on the alien's victims' foreheads makes about as much sense as me killing some guy and carving a map of Pennsylvania on his face. I don't know if it's because it's a really depressing movie and it ends on a sad note about clowns in the sky, or because I've just seen it more times than I can remember and I'm pretty burnt out on it, I can't really watch it much anymore... but still, if nothing else, the nonsensical "Idiot Control Now" song always cracks me up... that is, J&tB's version AND the one in the movie.
3. The Final Sacrifice Oh boy. A weird cult, Canada's version of Joe Don Baker (and his name is seriously Zap Rowsdower?!?!), and Mike Pipper, whose Yosemite Sam voice is worth sitting through all the scenes with the still-prepubescent-but-trying-to-pass-for-an-eighteen-year-old Troy. Servo's Canada song is great, and although the other host segments don't particularly stand out in my mind, they didn't make the rest of the episode suffer either. I really want to see this movie without the MST treatment someday... I'm pretty sure I'd still giggle like an idiot anyway. The characters are hilarious, especially because I'm pretty sure they don't mean to be ... the cult leader takes himself WAY too seriously and his deep, evil voice isn't scary, just hilarious. And again, Mike Pipper. HILARIOUS. ...And you really can't go wrong with a movie in which the bad guy just... well, SPONTANEOUSLY COMBUSTS after getting shot in the butt. The riffing over the end credits is pretty good, too: the "Rowsdower Saves Us" song, and then Crow pitching the movie as a TV series to Mike, who then insists that everyone in the movie is a girl... even Rowsdower is a "big, hairy girl."
4. Space Mutiny God, this movie is terrible. I once rented it without the benefit of MST3K just for the hell of it... what a mistake! The female lead is WAY too old to be the sexy female lead that the movie wants her to be, and in the un-MSTed version, she and Big McLarge Huge's sex scene has NUDITY! Don't get me wrong, I'm not weird and prudish about that sort of thing, it's just that seeing HER naked made me want to be straight... then I looked at Big McLarge Huge and remembered that I still like girls, just not the grandma-daughter lady in Space Mutiny. But I digress. This movie sucked, but in a hilarious way (without the MST treatment, other than the HORRIFYING naked scene, it was still pretty hilarious just on its own). The MST treatment just makes it better. The constant mocking of the buff guy, the leader of the bad guys trying to push his skull through his face, and the leader's lobster-y assistant... I love this movie. The host segments were okay (I love the line "enjoy a nice serving of brown betty with death, but- but mostly eat death"), and I really liked Crow's sudden realization that he's a Bellarian -- or is he? Okay, I admit I sometimes like folding my arms over my chest and putting a sheet over my head and declaring that I am a Bellarian. And yes, I also bought a cheap used copy of The Pelican Brief so I can better re-enact Mike and Bellarian-Crow's scene.
5. Manos: The Hands of Fate Okay, I think we all know this one by now. Family consisting of completely inept father, descriptionless mother (seriously, I couldn't think of ANYTHING to describe her with), little daughter, and little poodle... end up at Torgo's place. Well, it's the Master's place, but he's away right now. Torgo has giant knees for some reason, and sort of hits on the mother, while the mother sort of... stands there. Torgo finally backs off and she continues to... stand there. She yells for her husband but makes no effort to escape the guy who WALKS REALLY SLOW BECAUSE HE HAS GIANT FREAKING KNEES. She screams for her husband a lot, now that I think about it. And the husband says loving and caring things like "shut up" and "go back inside." I don't think I'm supposed to hate him more than the evil Master and Torgo, but I do. Oh, I do. Anyway. Poodle gets killed, but it's okay, 'cuz the little girl finds the cutest hellbeast EVER (it's so freakin' adorable!), the Master gets mad at Torgo and burns his hand off, there is a LOT of wrestling between scantily-clad ladies, and then the Master takes the mother and daughter as his brides (ewww). The inept dad -- well, that would ruin the INCREDIBLE SECRET ENDING. I don't actually believe this is the worst movie ever -- I would say that dubious honor belongs to Red Zone Cuba (I still have no idea what happens in that movie at all and I myself need a bouncy upbeat song to get through it) -- but it's pretty terrible. I think it's actually pretty funny on its own, but admittedly I don't think I could sit through it without J&tB. The host segments are also very good... the expressions on Joel's face as they describe the out-of-proportion body parts is hilarious.

At this very moment it would be:
1. JACK FROST More laughs per pound than any other episode. Possibly more laughs than anything I've ever seen.....
2. BEAST OF YUCCA FLATS very close on the laughometer to jack frost. The riffing on both is flawless. I truly think that Coleman Francis believed he was making something significant, which makes everything that much more ridiculous. The Grapes of Wrath of bad movies. Plus, Progress Island is my favorite short.
3. DAY THE EARTH FROZE Sampo, Bullwinkle, one hour martinizing and tons of goofy-ass Finnish weirdness. Great riffing and my favorite Joel.
4. THE DEAD TALK BACK But they never really do, which is great...and partically every odd ball character in this film is great......and the narration is great....and of course KRASKER!! the greatest of the great! My all-time favorite MST character. I love how the cop and almost everyone in this film actually sees him as credible. And once again, like Yucca Flats, the film is trying so hard to be worthwhile. The riffing took full advantage of everything mentioned.
5. 12 TO THE MOON It is still amazing to me how they took an incredibly dull, static black and white film with very little movement in it and turned it into something that I must stick into my DVD player every few months.

My top episodes are always changing, but here's the current list.
5. Time Chasers- This is one of those episodes that just keeps getting better and better every time I watch it. The host segments are a hoot, and so is the stinger. Their impression of Bob Evil is a highlight of the episode.
4. I accuse my Parents - The short wasn't too great, but everything else was gold. I loved the mads with their cake. This flick was so dated, and Joel and the bots riffing was superb. The scene were Jimmy tries to rob the diner may be my favorite scene of any episode of the series. "Um, can I rob you?" Diner owner: "You can't eat with a gun in your hand." Crow: "Well, actually you can, but I'll give you the gun anyway."
3. Santa Claus - Hilarious episode. What else can I say? There are some parts that drag on a bit, but the parts where Santa reads the letters from children, delivers the toys, and the "children from around the world" sing are priceless. "Alright, we're gonna whack Santa, he's been musclin' in on the Easter bunny's turf." And I loved "Merry Christmas- if that's okay". Watching this every Christmas is going to be a new tradition in my home.
2. Manos: The Hands of Fate - Oh, I know, everybody else already loves this one, and it's on every other top 5 list, but I'd rather be a tool enjoying Manos than be unique and bored. Hired! is probably one of my top 5 favorite shorts, too.
1. Incredible Melting Man - Pants-wettingly hilarious riffing, and brilliant host segments showing what crooks the people at gramercy really are. Whenever I'm in a bad mood, I pop this ep into my DVD player and it instantly cheers me up. Not much else to say except if you haven't seen this episode, FRIGGIN' GET IT!!!

I'm proud to say I've seen every available episode of MST3K, not bad for a British based Mistie who only discovered it three years ago me thinks, and these are my favourites at the moment; 1) Manos: Hands of Fate: Well it's the Daddy isn't it? Who knew movie making could get so bad? It figures it was directed by a manure salesman. The worst movie featured, although that could be, and no doubt has been, debated, coupled with some of the tightest, funniest riffing ever heard on the show. And Torgo is such a great character! How do you know he's evil? He's got big knees, a speech impedement and two sets of eyebrows. The riffs on the way he speaks crack me up every time! 2) Cave Dwellers Miles O' Keefe became a minor celebrity in Britain thanks to a TV show called So Graham Norton, made when he was still funny, in which, for reasons I can't remember, Graham became Miles' stalker, phoning him constantly and even getting him on the show. They talked about Tarzan the Ape Man, but surprisingly this movie didn't come up. Hmmm..... I just love this episode full stop. One of the first I saw, I went for the Rhino box sets and single DVDs first, this was just a standout. From the goofy invisible monsters to handgliding(!) this was just hilarious. They had Miles' costar Bo Derek in that Tarzan film on Graham Norton and they phoned him. She didn't seem to remember who he was! He definately came out of it looking like a good guy. Shame he was in this movie really. 3) Space Mutiny So many funny names for the big slab of Beef playing the lead! Fridge Largemeat, Bolt Vanderhuge. It also has the sweatiest villian ever and a woman who rises from the dead purely to get to work being a space receptionist on time! 4) Outlaw You can see why they won the Peabody for this one. It goes a long way to cementing Mike as host purely because it's such an assured episode and sets up a pretty nice run of episodes to finish Season 5. Another one with beefy men not wearing much, I may need to question my sexuality after this list, and a faded Jack Palance. You've got to love good actors turning up in crap like this cos the SOL crew have such a great time making fun of them! Oh, and the evil queen woman's hot! And that's not just to reassert my manliness after all the beefy men! Stop looking at me like that! 5) Skydivers Say what you like, but I love the Coleman Francis episodes, as they somehow make for great laughs. This is probably his least painful movie and features some very funny riffing throughout. It was a toss up between this and Red Zone Cuba, the second episode I ever saw, so at that point it was the worst film I had ever seen! I suppose it set me up nicely for being able to watch the painful movies, and as such I love both that and Skydivers, but only because the riffing is so good. Episodes like Mighty Jack and Castle of Fu Manchu just aren't that funny and the movie beats you down. Skydivers doesn't fall into that trap. Oh and Coleman Francis is easily the worst director ever. None of my mates at film school believe me when I say he's worse than Ed Wood or Roger Corman because they refuse to believe movies get worse. Oh they so do! I am in the middle of watching every episode in order from K04 to 1013. Found out there are a few people on this site doing that. I'm watching two episodes a week so it's taking two years if I counted right. I started on January 1st 2006 and at this point have just watched Castle of Fu Manchu, not in my top 5, how surprising!, and am about to rap up Season 3 with Master Ninja 2 on Tuesday. I really can't remember Season 4 at all so I'm looking forward to seeing it again. You never know a new favourite may emerge. Honourable mentions go to The Brain That Wouldn't (Couldn't) Die, as, like Mike, it was my first, Time Chasers, cos it's a very funny episode, and the Gamera movies, third season, not KTMA, as they were, mostly, excellent. Also Incredible Melting Man, excellent episode and the DVD of the un-Mistied versions in my Video Shop for £2, that's £1.98 too dear! And Night of the Blood Beast. It really is a great show Myatery Science Theater 3000, isn't it? I didn't count the Movie cos you asked for episodes, but it would be number 5 if I did. The first thing I saw of this phenomina and I love it! Decided to go back and look at this. I already dropped Skydivers for Magic Voyage Of Sinbad. But now there are so many I really love I just don't know. Time Chasers may be in there ahead of a few and most of seasons 5 through 7 are so good that anything from them could realistically be in there. My head hurts alot now!

Okay here it goes.
5. #818 Devil Doll - I'm not a big s/f era fan but season 8 was the best one and this episode is great. I love the sketch where the bots turn Mike into the DD.
4. #403 City Limits - One of the first eps I ever saw and still a great episode.
3. #704 Incredible Melting Man - The old couple picking fruit are hilarious. plus you have to love an ep where the title character gets thrown in the trash at the end.
2. #417 Crash Of The Moons - Bannergrams, Winky and bad special effects make this one great. The riffing is really good too. I love the "may lightning strike me" riff
1. #307 Daddy-O =Everybody do the pants up song. Its so funny when TV's Frank is singing through his fly.

Okay, I'm looking like a total dork replying to all these threads, but the newness of being a member is exciting! Don't worry, it'll slow down soon..
As of now my top five:
"MANOS" THE HANDS OF FATE: Well, what can I say, it's a classic. The movie is ridiculously incompetent and the boys were on fire! The host segments were cute (particularly the guys sitting around talking about monsters.)
HERCULES AGAINST THE MOON MEN: Our first episode...great all around.
EEGAH: Great corny movie,. great riffs, LOVE the Pork-a-rino (sp?)
SWAMP DIAMONDS: Just like above, corny and funny riffing. The segment's with Tom trying to date Gypsy are so cute!
LASERBLAST: One of those "I laughed till I cried" episodes.
and if I could I would list LOADS more..

Rocketship X-M (my first mst experience) Space Mutiny Puma Man Teenagers from Outer Space The Girl in the Gold Boots
(as a closet Weinsteinian purist I'd put KTMA Gamera vs. Zigra in there too... just guys ad-libbing, and no one can deny Dr. Erhardt's quick wit in the theatre)
