HG Wells' The Shape of Things To Come, 70s Star Wars rip-off is the next one.

Sumaru is a DECENT choice for a KTMA re-riff. Could do worse. I'd love a re-riff of Last Chase, SST Deathflight and/or Humanoid Woman, but I'm not unhappy with Sumaru.

A Jim Wynorski movie? Oh no...
Wait, isn't Munchie supposed to be a kids comedy?

i mean, who could have saw that coming, right. but im sure we'll find plenty of other assumptions to prematurely lose our sh*t over. To be fair...they didn't intimate or lay out in the KS campaign this time that they were shooting the theater segments traditionally. Considering how they shot the the theater segments the last 2 seasons, and the importance of greater theater interactivity Joel kept espousing the last few years, there wasn't any reason to assume that aspect of the show was going to change. So it's a pleasant surprise, especially considering how much Joel talked about shooting remotely due to Covid and stitching scenes together later.

So...no more pointless cgi nonsense requiring 12 puppeteers in rafters during theater segments? No more generic bot movement?
*deep breath*
A SINGLE THEATER RIFF SEGMENT BASED ON 1 LIVE SHOT THAT CAN BE EASILY COMPOSITED ON TOP OF FILM PLAYBACK BECAUSE THEY'RE ALL THERE DURING PLAYBACK, THUS NO LONGER NECESSITATING TIME-WASTING AND AWKWARD POST-PRODUCTION EDITING ON THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT AND RECOGNIZABLE ASPECT OF YOUR SHOW?!?!
Good lord. There just might be hope yet. Hopefully they're all shot like that and it wasn't staged or for just that episode.

I find it unnecessary to reveal all 13 titles at once. Especially considering some of these movies won't be seen for over a year. Wouldn't it make more sense to use the 12 shorts they're doing as early announcement videos of the upcoming full episode movie? Get some buzz going and get people to watch those also?

I don't have a problem with how they sound. I was more referring to how things look. That cgi background is distracting. Tom's cloudy dome is distracting. Weird, mini-Gypsy is both weird and distracting. Their voices are fine (although I'm not sure I'll ever get used to a woman voicing Gypsy or whatever iteration that is).

Tom Noel has been alerted. If anyone has what she's looking for, its probably him.

It SOUNDS like there are 4 shoots scheduled. The first one in Philadelphia with the touring cast. The 2nd in early November in LA with the Netflix cast and Mads. A third in LA in early December with the Netflix cast and Mads. And a fourth with the touring cast early next year.
I don't recall the details 100%, but there's 13 episodes. Joel is hosting 2 episodes. There'll be 1 special episode with all 3 hosts. So that leaves 5 episodes with the Netflix cast and 5 with the touring cast.
So something like.
Netflix cast episodes: 1301, 1303, 1306, 1308, 1311 Tour cast episodes: 1302, 1304, 1307, 1309, 1312 Joel episodes: 1305, 1310 Everyone special: 1313
Let's assume the 1st completed shoot will be the first 2 or 3 tour cast episodes, minus the Mads bits. The upcoming LA shoot is the first 2 or 3 Netflix cast episodes plus most of the Mads bits. The December shoot is the rest of the Netflix cast episodes and maybe the Joel episodes. The 2022 shoot is the rest of the tour episodes and the special.
So hypothetically, they could edit together the first few tour cast episodes by the end of this upcoming shoot, plus the first few Netflix episodes. So up to episode 1304 by the beginning of December. Have Joel's 2 episodes done by the end of December.
They COULD launch and start premiering episodes by January if the Gizmoplex is ready by then AND still technically be shooting the last few tour cast eps and special by the time new episodes are airing.
Its still...a mess. And its certainly not one-at-a-time like they were advertising during the KS. BUT, it doesn't look like everything NEEDS to be or even will be finished before the first episode goes live.

I'm going to repeat my prior statement that whether union or non-union, if it all costs the same anyways, it's a moot point and really, really doesn't matter one way or the other. And at this point its just splitting hairs.

In a forum full of straw man arguments, it’s funny that this is that straw man that broke the camel’s back. Yeah. I don't get the hype on this one. This is a big so-what from me. Union, non-union...who cares, ultimately if it all costs the same.

Thinking about the last update in regards to studio space.
They've mentioned a few times that studio rental time is quite expensive and they have short windows for studio shoots.
If this is a reoccurring issue and they plan doing this show for X number of years, wouldn't it behoove them to buy or more likely lease space somewhere near their production offices in Philly that they can either convert into a studio or is already an existing studio-type space so they don't have to have these tight, expensive production schedules? Production is a sunk cost either way, and they're already spending the money on a production office lease. Why not lease a larger space you can divvy up into offices and a production studio; build something a little bit more semi-permanent that you can shoot any old time you want?
That where you don't have to pay some third-party every single time you want to shoot a bunch of episodes. It would probably save money in the long term.
Edit: Plus, a private studio space would prob circumvent the problem of NEEDING the IATSE and Teamsters during your shoot. Just a thought.

Doubt. If it were available online in any form (besides what Mallon uploaded) everyone here would've already been on it like white on rice.
