aw man, devil fish is kind of a minor favorite of mine. it admittedly isn't top notch all the way through but there's a number of moments throughout the remaining hour that make it worth the watch. heck, two of my all-time favorite "blink and you'll miss 'em" riffs come from this one.
i'd say giant gila monster is pretty inconsistent for me. some parts are really annoying, a lot of it just does nothing for me, other moments get me laughing pretty good and it never really settles down in the end (the skits are pretty good at least). i think a lot of joel episodes from this era are like that.

lembach is staying
if i recall it's mostly pearl in the castle which is ok, but those wraparound parts w/ mike and the bots are completely phoned in and joke-free. just horrible. brutal even.

beast of yucca flats is incredible, it's astounding how much humor they can derive out of this thing. i can watch that over and over. i mean tor johnson alone is a delight, and mike and co. are like the icing. i love it.
quite frankly i don't care for many of the fan favorite episodes. i find them either boring or way too repetitive (and in the case of one in particular very annoying). i'm talking shows like cave dwellers, pod people, final sacrifice, stuff like that. i do NOT get them (and i am not kidding, i know there are people out there who think it's unfathomable that anybody could dislike those episodes). the absolute worst ones however have to be hercules against the moon men, the projected man and quest of the delta knights. those are all just dreadfully unfunny and tedious. moon men feels especially phoned in and pretty much represents every thing i don't like about mst3k.

The Poopie disc looks like it's all taken from master tapes. Poopie II runs about 27 minutes, which I suppose is the full version?

And again, the Ballyhoo doc about the final episode revealed new info to me as well... Who do they interview from the show for that one? Kevin Murphy, Beez McKeever, Jim Mallon and Patrick Brantseg. Looks like they're from the same interviews that they used in the Return to Eden Prairie 3-parter on the 25th Anniversary set.

I don't remember the audio errors in question, but then again, everyone else says they were there on the master copy and that the Rifftrax version fixed them. it's two really loud sounds that come up during the car chase (it's right after the canada song, i wanna say about 30 min. in)

it's a bad transfer, plain and simple. in the case of pod people, it looks like they combined two sources (primarily a new digital transfer and part of the old one that was on the rhino dvd) to patch up one spot that was corrupted and just dumped it on to the new dvd.

it's very blurry but not to the point that you can't tell what's going on. "unwatchable" is an exaggeration. (it's still pretty bad though)

I remember someone posting on the Revival League recently a bookstore that had a special MST display celebrating the new season. It had a couple of the OOP Gamera sets at reasonable prices. It's luck if you run into something like that, but it would be a miracle to run into Vol. 10 at a used store. i saw a copy at the princeton record exchange once (on display even) but it was like $120

i bought a new copy of vol. 7 off of amazon about 5 years ago and it was the corrected version, but i have no idea if there's any distinguishing marks between it and the initial, edited version. at this point i think it's just best to wait and see if shout factory will re-release this set. they've been doing alright with them so far and if they don't let up i would think they'd have it out by january next year. it's best that you don't go spending a whole lot of money on an OOP set (is it even going for high prices?) when a cheaper alternative is probably less than a year away from coming out.

i (mostly) liked: 1. avalanche 2. yongary 3. wizards of the lost kingdom ii 4. wizards of the lost kingdom 5. carnival magic
i wasn't completely bored/irritated by: 6. the beast of hollow mountain 7. starcrash 8. at the earth's core 9. the land that time forgot
i really didn't care for: 10. cry wilderness 11. the christmas that almost wasn't 12. the loves of hercules
i hated: 13. the time travelers 14. reptilicus
overall, it was just okay. nothing really made me laugh much, even the best episode of this season was just barely on par with my lesser favorites from the original series. despite a lot of problems, it did manage to charm me the more i watched it even if i wasn't finding it that funny. i saw plenty of potential for this new crew to make a good show at least so here's hoping they can pull off a second season (and really take the criticisms to heart).

i think they're clearly interested in re-issuing all of the rhino sets. looking at the pace they've come out so far it's gonna be every four months (january, may, september) which should take up to september 2019. they should be able clear women of the prehistoric planet too, by most accounts wade williams just won't let up on rocketship x-m.
