I'm not fussy when it comes to pizza, and I love a good "Hawaiian" style pizza - Canadian bacon and pineapple. Saying something shouldn't be on a pizza is kind of like saying something shouldn't be on a burger. Says who? If you're a child and can only handle pepperoni on your pizza, well, I have no problem with that, either.
Also Chicago versus New York style? Who cares? I remember Anthony Bourdain going on and on about Chicago style being a big casserole. Fair enough. Not to speak ill of the dead, but Bourdain was a bit of an a**hole snob.
No I'm hungry for pizza.

Wasn't sure where to post this, but just noticed the forum front page spaghetti ball logo has that weird Photobucket watermark on it. Can we host that image on the forum site and get rid of that watermark? Wasn't sure what the options were. Or who to mention it to.

The MIB franchise seems like it's run its course, even before MIB:I was announced. I didn't expect much from it, but it's too bad it strikes out. Hemsworth and Thompson are both great, surprising they couldn't save it.
On a more upbeat note, it sounds like Spiderman: Far From Home is getting really good preview reviews. Looks like the MCU has another hit coming, at least among critics. The trailers look like a lot of fun.

It appears Frank just underwent open heart surgery, but it sounds like he's doing OK. Here's wishing a speedy recovery to the one and only TV's Frank! Get well soon, sir.

I saw he posted that first video on his Twitter a few days ago. Really interesting. Kinda cool how the quality of the video isn't that far off the KTMA episodes we have out there.

Dark Phoenix is apparently godawful. Sigh. Ah dammit. I was hoping for a strong sendoff for them. Although I wouldn't be surprised if I liked it more than most. Critics can fall into a rut of genuflecting for MCU releases and ripping other comic movies to shreds. I'll definitely still see it eventually.

It's weird, aint it? For once everyone is in agreement on the pros and cons of a movie EXCEPT whether it's worth watching or not. Even if the movie is massively dumb, one of my favorite movies last year was The Meg, so I'm inclined to believe I'm going to be on the positive side. But I'll know for sure tonight. Another Zilla video: This one has my and Mod City 's beloved Bear McCreary showcasing his score. Knowing his sound and seeing some of the Godzilla footage I figured he'd be a good fit, and yup, that video proves it. I only really know his television work mostly. It looks like the score in this flick will get to shine. His score on Walking Dead is great, but very much atmosphere and it's often overshadowed by the rare appearance of other contemporary artists' songs. On Battlestar Galactica his music was a character, and an important one. For those who may not know a lot of McCreary's work, here are a couple quick examples from BSG. I'll put it in spoiler tags so it doesn't clutter up the thread. {McCreary BSG Examples}The first, "Kara Remembers," is from a scene where two people are trying to play piano together (one the chords, one the upper melody). They struggle for a bit, but a little before the halfway point they get it, and the full score comes in over it, and, stunningly, it's a theme we've heard before, and it's very important to the show. Everyone watching, including several characters in the scene, had their jaws on the floor thinking. What. The. F**k. Incredible scene and it's all about the music.
The second is "The Shape of Things to Come" from the first season finale. This is from a truly surreal scene, and the one that made me finally sit up and ask "who the hell is composing for this show??" I bought the first season soundtrack because of this track and how it and the scene in which it's featured made me feel. I almost never buy soundtracks.
Anyway, my interest in this movie is growing. I love Millie Bobby Brown, too. She's great on Stranger Things. I forgot she was in this.

Fine. I'll do it. I'm winging it, though, so this is pure instinct. And to be clear - they're all awesome.
And this may be cheating, but I'm not ranking the cast of the latest seasons. I'll let them marinate a bit before I start ranking them with the legends.
1. Joel - Creator, original host, older brother figure. His concept and performance are what sold me on the show when I first saw it. Nobody was more recognizable, no one's delivery more unique. Easy choice.
2. Trace - The original Crow and most significant Crow. His work in the very earliest of KTMA shows helped set the template for everything they did afterward. Excellent impressionist. And Dr. Forrester was never equaled in the world of MST3K antagonists. If anyone could challenge Joel, it's probably Trace.
3. Kevin - Not the first Servo, but the best. His eclectic "song and dance" version of the character was definitive for Tom, and like Trace he was involved from the earliest KTMA days, meaning he helped guide the ship in the earliest part of its history.
4. Josh - Of the first four, Josh was probably the weakest. He was only on the show a couple of years, and his Servo never got completely fleshed out. But one thing I noticed about Josh was just how funny he is as a stand-up comedian and joke writer. He had to be a force in the writing room. And again, as a KTMA original, he helped set the standard.
5. Frank - I liked that Dr. Erhardt was an actual mad scientists. Frank was more of an assistant, but what a goofy, off-the-wall dude he was. There's no way that character works with anyone in the role except Frank Conniff. And they no doubt wrote for Frank and Trace feeding off each other. He delivered so many classic lines while barely setting foot in the theater. Not bad.
6. Mike - He had one hell of a tough job stepping in for Joel when Joel left the show. But he was another person who had to have been instrumental in the writing room. They likely didn't call him the head writer for nothing. Plus, he's clearly a naturally funny guy.
7. Bill - It wasn't easy stepping in for Trace, either, but Bill's transition was remarkably smooth. I was surprised by just how easily his Crow grew on me.
8. Mary Jo - I always though her best stuff was when she was doing something like talking to Mike about fishing or acting like they're next door neighbors. Unfortunately they didn't really embrace that weirdnesss until late in her run. Still, better late than never.

I liked Alexandre Desplat's score for G14, but let's take a moment to admire King of the Monsters composer Bear McCreary (The Walking Dead, Battlestar Galactica) who is giving us some faithful recreations of Ifukube's Godzilla and Mothra themes in the new film. While I'm on the outside looking in when it comes to Godzilla, I will say that Bear McCreary is one of the most innovative and original composers for television and film out there. His work on Battlestar Galactica will haunt me for the rest of my life, and I mean that in the very best way. He seems like a great choice to helm this.

Ugh, just remember, it's a f*cking dragon show, people! Lack of character development and motivation should not get people this worked up over such things. True. But, what people are getting mad at is the fact that this particular show DID have good character development and motivation, seven seasons' worth, so they watched it and invested time in it all those years. Then, this season, a lot of those motivations and character arcs seem like they're being dumped by the wayside to just - BAM! One episode and that story's done and - BAM! one episode and another story's done, and all those arcs just didn't GO anywhere. All the hints and connections between different characters' stories and, nope, none of it really mattered much. None of the buildup paid off. And of course if people watched it all this time, they are going to want to see it to the end. Doesn't mean they have to like what they see. People are just pissed off because, what seemed like an intriguing story just falls apart and characters no longer make much sense. Even GRR Martin doesn't like the way it's being handled. I know the show is expensive, and takes a long time to produce, and the actors probably want to get on with their lives, but, if the show writers wanted to end it the way they did, they should have had at least a FEW more episodes to get there to tell it better. BTW: Was the horse Arya rode away on Harry Strickland's horse? (Not that it probably matters). Fair points, all. And I admit, I really have no business commenting because I've never seen the show, so I can't speak to how this last season is playing out for people who are truly invested in the story. My observation is based on reactions to shows I have watched that have a similarly devoted fan base. Ending a critically-acclaimed, highly-popular show is a tough trick. Especially one with a reputation for quality like Game of Thrones. Almost no one does it with widespread acclaim. Hell, maybe it will all resolve itself with mind-blowing crystal clarity with the last episode. You never know Anyway, back to proper Game of Thrones discussion.

I'll admit, I wish I had gotten on board early in the game. The show dwells on themes that are really quite up my alley. I like these types of stories. But at some point, it just gets too far out ahead to catch up.
I remember showing up at a guys house to look at a pinball machine I was considering buying. Nice house, comfortable neighborhood. I come in and the place is just an incredible pigsty. Honestly, I'd have thought he was squatting there. Dishes pilled a foot-and-a-half high in the sink. He had to get up from his Game of Thrones episode to show me the machine, and he was more interested in the episode (it was a weekday, so I assume it was a recording) than trying to make a buck and sell me the machine he advertised. People got into that damn show.
For the record, he said his wife was out of town and he was letting it all hang out, so to speak.

I've pretty much given up on watching Game of Thrones. It's been over 20 years since I had HBO and I'm not interested in adding to my monthly cable bill. And with every single freaking website in existence giving up spoilers left and right I'm saying screw it, it's one I'm never going to watch. I don't have to watch every beloved show. But seriously, does anyone ever watch a television show anymore with intentions other than shredding it to pieces? Reading stuff online I can't believe anyone still watches Game of Thrones. Seriously, everybody hates it so f*cking much now! Then WHY WATCH? I dealt with this crap when Battlestar Galactica ended. I'm tired of the masses and their television opinions. It's godawful in the movie world, too. Maybe it's time to take up gardening. And I hate gardening. Just a note - I'm not harping on your posts, crowschmo. I enjoy thoughtful criticism. But the ocean of smart ass opinions out there on anything and everything on television is just too much sometimes. Nine times out of ten it seems the critics are trying their damnedest to tear down what they've dedicated a good portion of their lives to. Ugh, just remember, it's a f*cking dragon show, people! Lack of character development and motivation should not get people this worked up over such things. Ian McShane said it best: ew.com/tv/2017/02/24/game-of-thrones-ian-mcshane-get-a-life/
