It may just be my erroneous impression, but doesn't it seem that Jim Mallon has retreated into a kind of anti-MST3K shell, and he refuses to have anything to do with it or the fans any longer? You know, I don't get the impression that he's anti-MST3K. As Mike, Kevin, and Bill said at the MST3K Symposium in January, the brand is a little tired from the endless showing of the same repeats. I think a year or two breather might help rejuvenate interest, particularly if the break can help drive down the cost to renegotiate licenses. For example, the license for "Zaat" aka "Blood Waters of Dr. Z" skyrocketed as a function of a. the newfound interest in the film and b. the anger by the filmmakers at the MST3K treatment. As if anyone was going to watch this cinematic abomination WITHOUT MST3K. I'm hoping that other rights-holders, like Sandy Frank, will eventually come around.

Sandy Frank will be the end of us all. I'd never say never. Also, who know, maybe Sandy Frank will sell the right off to someone else who will liscense them to BBI.

Sandy Frank will be the end of us all. I don't give Sandy Frank that much power over me. I give it to Bert I. Gordon and Roger Corman.

The problem is, he can't re-negotiate the rights because he never got them in the first place (which is illegal)! That's why we'll never see a release of KTMA eps..though I'm sorta optimistic about the pilot. . Wait a minute, if it was illegal, then why the heck did KTMA give them permission to use those movies? I read somewhere that the movies shown in the KTMA episodes had previously been see on the channel unriffed. And aren't some of the KTMA movies public domain anyway? (I'll have to check that one list). And why is Sandy Frank so peeved at MST3K? From what I understand, he only dubbed the movies, not MADE them. I take it the Brains made fun of the poor dubbing, and the poor baby Sandy Frank couldn't take it. Just like Joe Don Baker. (have any MSTies here actually met Joe Don Baker?)

I read somewhere that the movies shown in the KTMA episodes had previously been see on the channel unriffed. KTMA bought the liscense to air the films unedited. Most of the time having the films edited in such a way is illegal, because it's using old material to create something new. And aren't some of the KTMA movies public domain anyway? (I'll have to check that one list). Hanger 18 or 19 is the only one I found to be PD. MANY of them are Sandy Frank films. Some of them are Gerry Anderson films. A few of them are old TV movies. And why is Sandy Frank so peeved at MST3K? From what I understand, he only dubbed the movies, not MADE them. I take it the Brains made fun of the poor dubbing, and the poor baby Sandy Frank couldn't take it. Just like Joe Don Baker. Sandy Frank is angry because there were a few riffs on his name, and a few songs make to make fun of him ("Sandy Frank, Sandy Frank, he's the source of all our pain"). (have any MSTies here actually met Joe Don Baker?) From what I understand no. But I think Kevin Murphy would kick his ass.

Wait a minute, if it was illegal, then why the heck did KTMA give them permission to use those movies? Well, it was a UHF station...

And that nobody has the last part of K15 - Superdome. I no this Thread is quite old but i was looking through some Torrents and one has a file with the name "Superdome" Lost Host segment File. It is quite a small file so it might be real bad quality or just such or short segment If I Get it I can host it on my website and put it up myah for download if its all right. I Apologize if this has already been discussed in another thread.

Major thread bumpage there, partner. I'm sorry to say that the bump was pretty pointless, for it's pretty much common knowledge that the lost Superdome segment was found a while ago. In fact, it was found via this message board.

While this thread has been bumped, might as well mention a few things: *Sandy Frank doesn't own any of the movies/shows MST used. *BBI doesn't want the KTMA's released officially (which I can fully understand actually), and since they didn't license the movies in the first place (for use on the show), they couldn't. *If any KTMAs were to be released (either host segment compilations, or an episode or two), it would most likely be through BBI/fan club.
*If Rhino wanted to include the pilot as an extra, they could easily do it. THE GREEN SLIME is owned by Warner (through having MGM's old movie library). It would make a nice bonus feature, with or without the short movie segments.

Sometimes anticipation far exceeds the actual event.
I have the KTMA episodes, and they're interesting in an historic sense. (They're not very good.) But you see the idea developing.
First season CC is far better than KTMA.

First season CC is far better than KTMA. Yeah, being able to actually write the jokes before hand makes a huge difference. I need to complete my KTMA collection, as bad as they are. Interesting in a historic sense for sure, and it's cute to see the roughness of it.
