Alright Kinda new to the boards here Didn't know the whole story. Trying to catch up on things though Thanks. It's alright. Thread bumpage is nothing new. If I weren't so damn lazy, I could probably find the thread where the lost segment was found. It's somewhere in General Chat, I know that much.

First season CC is far better than KTMA. Sorry chuck. I'm gonna have to disagree with you on this. Largely due to the Phantom Rule, I vastly prefer KTMA to Season 1. The '70s TV movies were so much fun to watch, whereas Mad Monster, The Corpse Vanishes and The Slime People, not so much. I do like many season 1 eps (including the Crawling Eye), but overall, I'd pick a KTMA to watch on any given night. Methinks this deserves a poll in Gen Chat. I'm sure I'm in the minority.

I saw my first KTMA show the other night ("Phase IV") and I enjoyed it. The two guys I watched it with preferred the slicker later episodes, but this one had space between the gags and a couple of brilliant improvised moments where I laughed my ass off.
How about us lot taking out a few ads in Minneapolis newspapers to see if there are any TV collectors out there who might have the episodes on an old tape of something else?

Crow: "She looks kind of skinny, must be a Carpenter ant..." Servo: "Antarexic" Very poor taste, but still funny! I also got a big kick out of "They're outstanding in their field".

There is always a chance that someone taped K01- K03 and they might still turn up. Highly unlikely, but remotely possible. Just imagine some random MST fan, rifling through a box of old vhs tapes they haven't looked at since the 80's, and stumbling upon those episodes. They would garner instant 'God' status with MST fans the world over. If only.

Chances of lightning striking twice may be remote, but you never know. Being optimistic may be the road to letdown, but it's a happy one.

How about us lot taking out a few ads in Minneapolis newspapers to see if there are any TV collectors out there who might have the episodes on an old tape of something else? I know I suggested this before on this board (somewhere), but if a group of people with time and money got together, and actually looked up evrybody who was living in that area, contacted them and offered to go through their old tapes for them (maybe give some money for the inconvenience) those 3 episodes probably would be found...possibly even the pilot. Really, even if you forget that plan, and simply go to every house that was around during that time period and offer to check the tapes you'd probably find it, too. Failing, you could try garbage dumps in the area.

The problem is, he can't re-negotiate the rights because he never got them in the first place (which is illegal)! That's why we'll never see a release of KTMA eps..though I'm sorta optimistic about the pilot. So don't renegoiate the rights, just buy the rights in the first place...someone could say that it's a brand new project Or what if just the audio was released, but it was edited so you only hear the voices of the crew not of the movie itself. I know that'd take some work, but it is a possibility. And then people could simply get the movies, and play the audio over the real audio (ok, it probably won't match up exactly - but I'm sure it's doable).

Yeah, that could happen. And maybe if you get enough people together with enough money I could sell you the Golden gate Bridge.

Well I didn't say it was highly realistic (if the people were interested enough, I doubt if you'd really need much money anyway.) But if you're really selling bridges I'd like to buy the Brooklyn Bridge, not the Golden Gate Bridge.

Nobody would have the pilot, anyway since it didn't air.

Nobody would have the pilot, anyway since it didn't air. Well sure nobody would have a copy taped from a tv broadcast. But you don't know if someone from BBI or KTMA copied it and gave it to a friend - or if somebody got to make a copy from the tape aired at the confrence. Well you don't know that it didn't happen.

Well you don't know that it didn't happen. davy1031, I love your sunny, optimistic outlook. Even if it's unrealistic. Well I used to be all pessimistic and negative about everything. Then 1½ years ago, I talked to some people, learned some things. And I finally relized that being like that didn't help anything and just annoyed people. So I decided to go the opposite way, and only see nice, positive things I think it makes life much more pleasant. Although yes, I still always think that I can achieve the impossible...I make these crazy plans that everybody knows won't work, but it does make me happy - and I won't actually act on it. So I don't consider it to be a big deal. (Sometimes, with enough effort it does really pan out though.)
