Hu? I think they'd be fun just as This Island Earth was. They're just silly movies and nothing that brilliant. And hell, as long as I get a laugh, he could do commentary on Casablanca for all I care. Okay....then how about colorizing and riffing on Raging Bull and A Hard Day's Night while we're at it? I'm just not looking forward to movies where there's more commentary than riffing (like Night of the Living Dead) because Mike has too much respect for them. Harryhausen films aren't "cheesy". Go ahead on. The moviie and the riffing are two seperate entities. I can still watch the movies alone, or laugh at the commentary. I don't take it personal. I think those movies are pretty cheesy, even though I admire Harryhausen.

I just look at all of these other exploitation/roadshow films ( Marihuana, Assassin of Youth, Wages of Sin), other cheesy monster movies ( They Saved Hitler's Brain, From Hell It Came), other sci-fi ( Things to Come) and just oddball stuff ( The Terror of Tiny Town) and I think there are better films to do before they start going after the borderline stuff like Harryhausen's monster films....

Well there's nothing official. It might just be a Harryhausen box set they are putting together and have nothing to do with Mike.
I guess I've got an irreverent brain. Any target is a good target as long as I'm laughing.

The Harryhausen thing, I believe, has nothing to do with Mike. They're just colorizing those films at Ray's request (he wanted to shoot 'em in color, but the color stock and budgets he had couldn't provide this option). I think the "Mighty Joe Young" note on the webpage is a little strange, though. I'm not sure if this means that that is one of the films that Harryhausen wants to colorize. I think Warner Brothers might be more than a little peeved at having to issue that film for a fourth time on DVD (plus Ted Turner, who owns the film, isn't as keen on colorization as he used to be).
Back to the topic at hand: I own the absolute WORST version of "The Little Shop of Horrors" ever released - bad picture quality, terrible sound quality, and the worst packaging and menu of any public domain DVD I have ever spent my hard earned cents on!
I'm glad that Legend took the time to restore and colorize this classic film (let's hope that this will be the first time "Little Shop" is presented in its original widescreen aspect ratio of 1.66:1). Even with Mike's commentary, I'll definitely enjoy this new release.
I'm sure the commentary will be funny, don't get me wrong, but I honestly don't think that Mike's commentary will be nearly as funny as the film itself. "The Little Shop of Horrors" is perhaps my favorite black comedy (maybe Dr. Strangelove comes in at number one, or at least a close second). I'll probably be first in line to order the autographed pre-release edition.

So, this is yet another b/w movie digitally colorized just so that a new generation of simpletons can watch it without the black and white image "annoying" them. I'm skipping this.

They could make it all a lovely shade of green for all I care. As long as it has Mike, I'm in! Well, I would be if I could get into the site. No go from home or the library. Does the link at MST3K.com take you right to the ordering page or Legends front page? I ask because I can usually order from their ordering page when a direct link is offered. This time I am unable. I might have to write Barry and say... I want one, please allow me to buy it somehow, pretty please

Some people just don't like black and white movies. Who are you to judge? People have different opinions. Personally, I love black and white movies, but I'll give colorized versions a chance if the original version is included on the same release.

I'm generally against colorization, but I've been loving these releases. It's great to hear Mike, even if he is going solo. And on the last few DVDs, they've made his commentary available on the black and white versions of the films.

Thanks sky, I just wrote Mr. Sandrew so hopefully he can help me find a way to order a copy. You can also buy it straight off of eBay (item#9132164530). There you're not stuck with only paying through Paypal. They also still have Plan 9 and Haunted Hill for sale there.

I got it and reviewed it at my site... Little Shop (scroll down till you hit Mike's work for Legend) I freaking hate the movie with a passion, but Mike does get in some decent shots. Not his best, but well worth a listen.
