Green grass is over-rated. There are some very lovely weeds out there...

Yeah it must be good if it's directed by James Whale and stars Alan Hale and Vincent Price.

No I haven't seen Showboat. I think the only James Whale movies I've seen are the Frankenstein ones.

I got my copy of The Little Shop of Horrors in today.
I watched it with a massive headache which probably dampened the experience, but I felt that it was about average for the Nelson commentaries, which is good, but I wish they were all as good as House on Haunted Hill.

An Open Note to Mike Nelson:
First, love ya always.
But, if you're getting bored with doing these Legend releases...maybe it's time to step aside and maybe let Kevin take a couple?
Really, you go on and on about the MST3K connections in the other films (COS for one) but if you go by this new disc you've never seen Jonathan Haze before in your life?
Might be time for a break.
Take care,
WR
And a note to Legend:
Again, strange idea of "restored" there, Guys. Yeah, the picture is sharper than I've seen in a long time but...what's with the missing frames? Even Universal knew to use a fuzzy print of the spanish version of Dracula to complete a scene rather than leave a hole....

Even Universal knew to use a fuzzy print of the spanish version of Dracula to complete a scene rather than leave a hole.... Quit complaining. The final scene of "Freaks" looks like crap on the Warner Home Video DVD release, but Turner Entertainment still went through a lot of effort to restore that film, and the film looks great everywhere else, for the most part. Quit complaining about the minor flaws of a restored DVD release. Especially since every other DVD release of The Little Shop of Horrors looks and sounds like the print has been dragged through the garbage. This was the first time I was able to hear all of the dialogue!

As much as we like to think we are legion, I sincerely doubt that there are enough MSTies to keep Legend Films solvent. They need some "normals" to buy their stuff as well. They already get bad reviews for their colorizations...they don't need people turning their nose up at "restorations" that don't live up, too. Just read the review for Night of the Living Dead on DVDTalk.com....he points out (and rightly so) that even the B&W version on this disc is shoddy. And since there's so many other better and complete versions of this out there.... Seriously, you weren't disappointed that there were so many frames missing from when Nicholson's first walked through the door (making that line of dialogue unintelligible)?

I'm just saying go to the trouble of doing what you advertise or don't claim you're doing it. It was a few missing frames. That doesn't mean that the restoration wasn't as extensive as they say it was. They already get bad reviews for their colorizations... Not from everybody. they don't need people turning their nose up at "restorations" that don't live up, too. It was a few missing frames. Just read the review for Night of the Living Dead on DVDTalk.com....he points out (and rightly so) that even the B&W version on this disc is shoddy. That one wasn't issued in order to top any previous release on the film. Legend specifically put out NOTLD to do a colorization job on the film. I honestly don't think either print is as bad as some people claim. And since there's so many other better and complete versions of this out there.... Four out of the six cult films released by Legend have never looked better on DVD, nor have they had as good extras as the LF releases. I think that's a pretty good track run. Seriously, you weren't disappointed that there were so many frames missing from when Nicholson's first walked through the door (making that line of dialogue unintelligible)? No, not really. The line doesn't add to the comedy, and everyone who has been paying attention to the film knows the name of the dentist, so I can't say that this is as big a deal as you make it out to be.

So, we agree to disagree. I agree that the prints of most of these are very good. Not always the best, but good. It's just that when I get something that says it's restored and there's something missing from that print that's in every other print I've ever seen - meaning it was easily found - I wonder why they couldn't take care of that.
