Would you rather it come out three months later just so it can be "20 years" on the nose? I'd rather it be the 20th Anniversary and get it a few months early, but that's just me. Sure the KTMA started in 88, but I don't think we'll get any complete episodes on the set.

Wellp let's hope the episodes are indeed 20th Anniversary worthy. It's not likely we'll see episodes like Racket Girls, The She Creature, or The Human Duplicators on the set. Not necessarily. Some of the most "20th Anniversary worthy" episodes are hard to get/unobtainable or have already been released.

What? 1989 + 20 = 2009. Hmm... When is a 20th Anniversary not a 20th Anniversary? The first KTMA episode aired on Thanksgiving, Nov 24th, 1988.

Mine's on Oct. 28. On the nose, you might say! Awesome, man! This really will be a happy birthday por vu! Wellp let's hope the episodes are indeed 20th Anniversary worthy. It's not likely we'll see episodes like Racket Girls, The She Creature, or The Human Duplicators on the set. I think they will be good Anniversary-worthy episodes... but I like your list of episodes, samtaco. I would LOVE to see Racket Girls and Human Duplicators. Two of my absolute favs!

All I gotta say is the suspense is killing me! Can't wait to hear what eps will be included. My impossible-wish-list-20th-anniversary relese would be: a Sandy Frank mega-collection in 2 or 3 box sets of all the Gameras, Fugitive Aliens, Legend of the Dinosaurs, etc. including all the KTMA versions. Da'd be sweet but (*sigh*) ain't never gon' happen. "A dream is a wish your heart makes...."

The poster was hoping that the Season 1 opener, the Crawling Eye, would be released specifically to celebrate the 20th Anniversary. Since the Crawling Eye was released in 1989, I was trying to point out that if the set is designed to reference a 20 year anniversary then it should showcase something from 1988 to prove the twenty years. I know the early KTMA shows are from 88. But I also thought that the UHF shows didn't count as episodes by the show's creators and if true, the 20TH Anniversary would be 2009. I think they're being petty about the quality of the KTMA shows. They're not that bad, they're really kind of charming.

I agree. I've been watching the KTMA's lately and I find them quite charming. I know the riffing isn't as sharp as later seasons but this is the true genesis of the show. PLEASE put K01 Invaders From The Deep in your first set Shout! Factory.

www.mst3kinfo.com/?p=707While Laserblast and Werewolf might not necessarily be in THIS 20th Anniversary boxset, I have a feeling they might be in a future box in the not-too-distant future...

Does sound that way. Which is too bad, since even just sticking to public domain they could do a lot better than those two eps.

I have a feeling that we'll see Laserblast (a personal favorite if you couldn't already tell) on the 20th Anniversary collection because A) B Ward hinted about it months ago on the Shout message boards and B) it seems to go along with my theory that they are including "touchstone" episodes for the upcoming set. I can picture Werewolf coming out in the next set. Either way, two great episodes anyway you look at it.

Yeah, I'm glad to see that Laserblast will finally be making its way onto DVD... and Werewolf is a solid SciFi era episode... so this is good news.

I'm assuming you post under this same name on the Shout! boards? If so, I too noticed that one of Ward's responses to a question of yours heavily hinted towards Laserblast. Couple that with the little hints they've been dropping about how they had obtained the rights to at least one "unobtainable" episode that surprised even them, and I'd wager there's a good chance of LB! being on that first set. ;D

Interesting, although it looks kinda like a sofa cushion.
I'd buy a sofa like that.
