Giant of Marathon - Second try at watching and I was super pleased. This is my favorite of the bunch. Goofy movie that gave the boys many opportunities and they took full advantage. Even the bonuses were good. "A+" effort. I have to agree. I watched it this weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it, with many laugh-out-loud moments. I'm planning on re-watching the other three over the next week, but I'm pretty sure that "Giant..." will remain my favorite of the bunch. Me three! I thought this was easily the best of the bunch so far. The laugh-meter was as high as a good MST episode. I even watched bits and pieces of it a second time and laughed even harder. This is more like it. I wonder if they produced this one last? I don't know if they released them in the order they made them.

I watched The Giant of Marathon last night and loved it. The best laughs for me were the three of them laughing over the "You might as well try to convince Lutaietes" and Kevin's brillaint C-SPAN narration that ended with "skirts should be no shorter than, and I quote 'standard nut length.'" That one got me so bad, I had to pause the movie.

Finally found Wild Women of Wongo at Best Buy. Haven't watched it yet, hope to get to it later this week!

I just thought I'd point out something about Giant of Marathon I just noticed. Do you recognize the Spartan that Philipedes fought at the beginning of the movie and who defended him in front of the Spartan council? Put a beard on him. Do you see him now? It's Alan Steel, the other Hercules.

Wild Women of Wongo: I just noticed something myself.
Whoever wrote the *ahem* "script" for this thing was somewhat acquainted with the way certain ceremonial exchanges really do occur in places like New Guinea (where I've spent some time).
Seems unlikely, I admit, but that whole stilted conversation between the two Wongo chiefs is very much like what some tribes go through at times like these:
"This is not very much, it is only the best shells I have."
"It is a great gift, I am only sorry that I am not worthy of it." And so on.
I know, who cares? But I thought it was remarkable in such a crappy movie, that's all.

Watched one of these for the first time today. Hollywood After Dark, better than I expected, but there was still something missing. I think with only three guys writing it shows, but these three look to have been producing pretty damn good riffs. The pop culture riffs were curbed even more, probably because they had less resources to pull from. The lack of shadowrama also brings a lack of energy to the screen, especially with such a boring movie. However, I would put this in the ***1/2 range if put up against MSTiedom. That "death" scene was indeed awesome! Ha ha
Favorite riff, "Ricky Retardo."

I watched "Hollywood After Dark" the other day for the first time. I REALLY liked it. Yeah, it's trippy to not have the shadowrama at the bottom, but to me it was JUST like a "darker" mst3k like Teenage Crime wave or Beatniks. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I'm looking forward to the other ones. ;D

Even the bonuses were good. "A+" effort. I just rented this from Netflix and was generally very impressed. That scene where Reeves and his horse try to cross the raging river nearly had me in tears with laughter.

I've only seen Giant of Marathon and Killers From Space thus far.
Giant of Marathon started off on a MAJOR roll, but then the funny riffs became sparse.
Killers From Space was pretty boring... there's no need to beat us over the head with the "Biography" jokes. I never thought that joke could have gotten old, but it sure did. However, there was one riff that had me cracking up. I'd have to watch it again (I wasn't fully paying attention) to be 100% sure about the actors, the scene transition and the quote, but here's the gist of it: Peter Graves and his wife are talking in the bedroom... the next scene cuts to him walking down the hall, rubbing his jaw and one of the guys says "Jeez, you took forever... I nearly broke my jaw". I thought about that one for a couple of seconds and just about died laughing when I realized what act was being referenced. It's funny because it's true.

I just watched Giant of Marathon. It was a good bit of fun, and it had some great moments. It felt like a decent Sci-Fi episode, which is to say that it was passable, but still a bit of a let-down. It was a lot of fun to experience, though - almost like a new episode of MST. I also enjoyed the "Mike's Apology" extra, especially when Kevin "enters" the scene.
I'll keep that short, because I plan on writing a proper review for the blog.

Watched GofM tonight. Wow, THAT was funny. I thought it was a great effort, and easily my fave Film Crew dvd so far. My fave line was the one during the battle with all the calvary and the weird camera angles that went somewhere along the lines of "The camera operator must have been descended from Catherine the Great"..lmao

Just watched Giant of Marathon. (Now all I have to see is Hollywood after Dark). Man was that funny. Waaaay too much man, but thankfully the girl that played Andromeda was easy on the eyes. The riffing was fantastic, though, some really great laughs for a pretty strong effort, and great extras too.
If the Film Crew somehow does continue, I'd love to see them add even more bonus features. Their version of host segments are really hilarious, and that's one thing we won't be getting from CinTi.

Don't stop reviewing MJ, your reviews are some the best around. Even when I don't agree with them (The Incredibly Strange Creatures was great by the way ;D). I look forward to them all the time, keep up the great work. Thank you, that's very nice of you to say. Sometimes I wonder why I even keep writing these things, but I shall, as Chief Dan George said... "Endeavor to persevere" I have to agree. Whenever I watch an episode of the show the first place I go is to your review site. Often I disagree with you (I've enjoyed episodes you've hated, and been bored by episodes you've loved), but it is always interesting reading what you have to say. Maybe someday I'll write some episode reviews myself...

Seems like a trend--I just watched GoM and was ultimately disappointed. There was some really funny stuff but too many of the riffs made me cringe. I was also pretty unimpressed with Hollywood After Dark. I won't give up, though.
