I'm expecting this to be a trainwreck unlike any of the "bad" modern action films they are doing. Even though it's still fairly recent I think it'll feel a tad closer to some of the older stuff the show did.

Yeah I never wanted to watch the Holiday Special, I watched 5 minutes last week, still not sure I want to even with the RiffTrax! It is very painful to sit through this. Kudos for Mike, Kevin and Bill for having to sit through it several times to write the RiffTrax for this. I'm sure this "special" has left a permanent scar on them for life. BTW, if anyone is not sure how to mix the Google copy of this or has any questions about obtaining this one, please msg me for help.

The old commercials are the most interesting part of that whole movie.

This "Special" is one of the most awful shows I've ever encountered. Won't it be hard to sync up? My copy still has commercials which might make it easier as edited versions will vary in how they were cut. Sky are you selling copies of the this. I'd much rather have a version that is some what close then trying to figure out how to convert google's file to a DVD.

Just so everyone's clear, all you have to do is click the "Download" link on the Google Video page. It will download as an mp4 file, which plays perfectly in Quicktime. Easy as can be.

It plays in VLC as well. Managed about thirty seconds unriffed then had to turn it off before vomit squirted out my nose.

After getting a .flv last night that ran 5 hours / 18 min ( w/ still frames of 90 min. ) I now have a .mp4 downlaoding in , like , 8 minutes !! should be the one. BTW , like your new color-correct Santa-cap !

Wow. I can't decide if this is better or worse than writing a paper. At any rate, Bill, Mike and Kevin are my heroes for willingly putting themselves through this repeatedly. Though I'm not sure if it's as bad as everyone makes it out to be, I definitely won't be watching it again. Perhaps it might have been better if they had dropped out the variety show aspect and focused more on the plot. (You know, that thing that most movies have that isn't a drawn-out, thinly-veiled segue from one guest star to the next.) The "Animated Adventures of Boba Fett" looks like it escaped from Yellow Submarine in some parts, and like something that I would draw the rest of the time.
And I totally want a Tobor for Christmas.

Hahaha this is one of the most awesome things created by mankind! I can't believe how crappy it is. Chewbacca's dad is seriously more disturbing than almost any horror movie I've seen. And the mustached Pornstar Imperial Guard. "Ted, I just don't think the Empire's right for you. I know you really wanted to be a Stormtrooper, but it's just not you."

I just got started watching the special. I got about as far as the scene from which the above picture comes. When I saw the guy in the helmet I instantly thought I was looking at Kevin Murphy. I hope there are riffs about that! Also, I made my own DVD of the mp4 pretty easily with DVD Flick. I got the tip from a thread on the RiffTrax forum on authoring your own DVD of the special. I am a pretty serious wuss and bonehead when it comes to all these downloading and burning and re-encodifying things, so I'd encourage even the timid to try making their own disc for this. I recommend the route RVR II suggests as opposed to the method in the first post of the thread.

I hope the guide that comes with the rifftrax is very specific about when to sync the audio. I might even try to make my own Rifftrax disc of this on the 10th!

Looks like making your own DVD of this is going to be as much fun as watching it. Thanks for all the tips. I'll be trying it soon. If it downloads as an MPEG4 file then I'm home free!
To ease the pain Mike, Kevin and Bill should have spliced a selection of the wierdest 2 1/2 minute episodes of "Gimme, Gimme Octopus" where the commercials were in this stink burger.

I compared Sky's DVD of SWHS with the one on google and they are the same (with the exception of the scrolling text...and something tells me they are going to use the scrolling text as a indicator of when to pause).
I think I might attempt my re-author with Sky's DVD.
