The Turkish Star Wars is a great idea! It definitely fits the criteria. And why else would there be an interview with StarWars.com on Saturday if it isn't a Star Wars project? Plus, the Turkish version could never get a release without Lucas' permission because it pilfers scenes outright from the official film.
Did MST3K ever do any Turkish films? I've seen a few and they are more than rife for riffing.

If they did that, they'd probably have to add subtitles or something too (hey, maybe the silhouettes are on the side instead of the bottom _because_ they need room for subs?)
Still, that's a lot to keep track of on the screen at once but as good a theory as any considering what we know.

I have no idea what the first film will be, but I do know the release date, and that's all i really care about. And I guess for those of you wondering if that "man out standing in his field" was literal, "a man out standing in his backyard" should clear it up looking forward to see J Elvis' interview. though, obviously.. im really just waiting for Trace's

why else would there be an interview with StarWars.com on Saturday if it isn't a Star Wars project? Considering the source of the hint: Whoever said they needed ILM/Lucas Art's permission to do the first movie?!? I'd say there might be at least one good reason there would be an interview with StarWars.com on Saturday if it isn't a Star Wars project.

Whoever said they needed ILM/Lucas Art's permission to do the first movie?!? Aha, another clue! Must be irritating to follow random rabid baseless speculations when you hold the truth. This is what the 'ILM permission' idea is based on: "however I am pleased to mention that they’ve granted us the rights to offer this event to you, the friends of Cinematic Titanic, remotely and slightly after the fact - stay tuned."

Campster on the SomethingAwful thread about this has another intriguing theory. Whoever said they needed ILM/Lucas Art's permission to do the first movie?!? YOU DID! YOU DID!! YOU DID!!! Sorry, the adrenaline is so thick in here you can cut it with a knife...

Well, yesterday Joel updated the Cinematic Titanic site with the following:
It’s been an incrediburgible seven days to say the least – wow! One week ago, we opened the doors to Cinematic Titanic's web site, with a simple message: The original cast of Mystery Science Theatre 3000 is getting together in the form of a new movie riffing delivery system called Cinematic Titanic. Titanica!
We received so many positive, encouraging responses, it made all of the five writer/performers at Cinematic Titanic sit up and take notice. By "writer/performers" I, of course, mean: Trace "Crow T" Beaulieu, J. Elvis "Tom Servo" Weinstein, Mary Jo "Pearl Forrester" Pehl, Frank "TV's Frank" Conniff and myself Joel "Joel" Hodgson. The biggest lesson we've gleaned from it all was the need to provide more content for you hungry, hungry freaks-- the fans of quality movie riffing. So, now, suddenly, one week later, it's real…we officially have an audience! To quote Pink Floyd, "It's a hellofa start and could be made into a monster if we all pull together as a teaaaaaam!" We want to thank you. We will commence riffing shortly, and we will do so with great gusto, thanks to you.
This week has completely exceeded all of our expectations about Cinematic Titanic, what with watching the counter climb on the number signing up for the e-mail list, reading about how glad people are that we're coming back, and learning first hand what it's like to see your server crash because of the incredible good fortune of the "Slashdot effect"! The only thing I can compare it to is the day I was waiting for a plane at the Las Vegas airport, and I saw a man drop three quarters into slot machine, pull the handle, and watched as the machine rolled over to three of those chunky red-white-and-blue sevens that symbolize some sort of Hells-a-poppin' coin dropping cacophony! It's a lesson for all of us really. Everybody knows those slot machines at the airport don't ever pay out, yet somehow the man believed they would-- or maybe he just had a very real problem with gambling. My point is that it's been really encouraging, and hopefully not too addictive for any one of us on this side of the computer screen.
The interview that I mentioned last week will appear on Starwars.com this Saturday November 10th so "check it". The story will give you some more details about our upcoming live show and World Premiere at ILM on Friday, December 7th, as well as some little know facts about the origin of MST3K, and also some glimpses into the strange creation of Cinematic Titanic.
The first official Cinematic Titanic feature will be available for sale the Monday following our world premiere on Friday, December 7th. That makes the street date a solid, nearly firm, December 10th or as close as we can get. It's a studio version of the live show packed with cool bonus features, so save your juice money. The name of the film we'll be riffing on is a secret, but I'll try to tempt you with some vague descriptions: it's very rare, it's very strange, and it's of questionable quality. Needless to say it's going to be perfect for our experiments. Please sign up for the mailing list if you haven’t already. We just love it when you do.
Next week, our first feature article is going to be an interview with J. Elvis Weinstein (or Josh Weinstein as he appears in the MST3K credits). He created the character of Tom Servo, and was one of the first "evil sirs" along with Trace. I remember the day at KTMA, where Mystery Science Theatre was first produced, when we were talking about the robot then known as "Servo". J. Elvis (then known as Josh) told me that he felt that "Tom" would be a good name, because he pictured Servo as a sort of a top forty D.J., and that he envisioned the robot's picture on a top forty countdown flyer with the name "Tom" in quotation marks. Well sir, it was on that day the character of Tom Servo crystallized for me, and I must admit, he remained pretty much the same from that point on: A verbose, husky, baritone showbot with a face for radio. Check out Josh's unique take on being a teenage founding writer/performer of the very first movie riffing show, MST3K.
If you've already signed up for the e-mail list, thanks a million-- you can relax now. We at Cinematic Titanic will take care of the rest.
Keep circulating the URL!
Joel
The speculation is over. It MUST be "The Star Wars Holiday Special". No question about it now.

Or it could still be "Santa Claus Versus The Ice Cream Bunny". Or "Cannibal Holocaust". Or maybe a video of Phantom Engineer dancing about the hotel room in Denver.
The interview is on 11/10, the live show at ILM is on 12/07, the next paragraph is about the first release on 12/10. They may not be the exact same thing. Or they may be. Who knows? All we know for sure is that "it's very rare, it's very strange, and it's of questionable quality".
I do think it's quite spiffy for Mr. Lucas to let us get our mitts on it.
