Though the episodes themselves still haven't been named yet, right? That's actually hilarious. As much as I support Shout Factory, I can't bring myself to preorder without knowing what will be on the set.

I want to see what episodes are on them, but I'm definitely going to get it-- AND preorder it... but, my thing is it is still 4 months away, so that is plenty of time to preorder. Its too expensive, no titles, and too far away to get all zany and pre-order RIGHT NOW. Patience, my friends.

I pre-ordered through Amazon, clicked via the mst3kinfo site. Seems like there's a bit of hesitancy because they haven't announced the titles, and that this set is "too expensive", but I personally can't agree with that. $48.99 (Amazon's pre-order price, without shipping) is still a bargain in my book...even it it JUST contained four episodes, that's still $12.25 each, and it's apparent that they're going to have lots of bonus stuff, and give this set a really special treatment above and beyond the best of the Rhino sets. Yes, the list price is high, and they haven't made an official announcement of the episodes, but c'mon...you KNOW they're gonna do the fans right with the new, 20th Anniversary set. Have faith! But yes, there's still plenty of time to pre-order...though the $48.99 price will be sure to go up in a month or two. I do order from deepdiscount as well, but my ship times & prices have been a mixed bag over the years.

Anyone want to start guessing what the 4 movies might be? I would imagine they'll be of special significance given the 20th anniversary... but also include the caveat of what they could get the rights to.
Any ideas?

I'm going to let it all unfold. There's been too much speculation on this board already... Read the rest of this thread for some speculation and there are a couple of other spots where this has happened.

I've already pre-ordered. Who cares what's on it it's an official MST3K release which is always a good thing and Joel has made a wee comment in his post on the CT site about it. He says he can't announce anything but it looks a bit tasty.

As I've stated before, I WILL pre-order it, and there's not even the slightest question that I'll get it (I don't want it, I NEED it), but because I don't have the money to toss at every whim, I will be patient and wait to A.) Preorder it later B.) Find out which episodes are on it (not that it really matters) and C.) Collect the money from all my midget prostitutes, for I am a midget pimp. Please don't judge me.

I dunno, it still seems expensive to me. I give it some leeway because it's still a pretty small show, but I think I've only bought one of the Rhino MST3k volumes at anywhere near that price. I've generally waited until I have 40% off coupons at Borders, or something like that, to get them down near the $30 price range.

Have you tried Deepdiscount or Overstock.com? Typically, those are considerably cheaper than Amazon and the like...

I've generally waited until I have 40% off coupons at Borders, or something like that, to get them down near the $30 price range. I guess it's all relative to your situation. A few years ago, I might have balked a bit, especially considering that the set would most likely find its way to "the usual places where someone could download it for free", but I guess in my later years I'm will to pay the money (and be legal) for stuff I love. MST3K being one of them. When one reflects on a few things, like...the fact that ticket prices of first run movies can run damn close to the price of a disc in this set ($11/adult at the AMC in my town), the reality that I'll watch these multiple times over the years, these sets are a niche market and now it's on a smaller company rather than a branch of a large mega-corporation, the fact that fan-made DVDs of non-official episodes can run $6-$10 each...all these factors make me, and my current financial situation, accept the price, even if I had to pay list. Now, I'm not very savvy with internet coupons and such, so I'm sure I could get the price lower than the pre-order Amazon price, but it's just not that important to me. I got it at a decent discount, and that's good enough. I fully understand hesitancy from not having announced titles and tight budgets, but to feel this set is 'overpriced', for an official release? I just don't know about that...but my opinion isn't the only one of course.

I have a feeling the price may come down. That's what usually happens. I've got The Office Season 4 pre-ordered and it's decreased twice in about a week. Plus none of the money comes off until it ships anyway. Since this has just been announced and it's some months off I expect all the big sellers to start a little pricing war, even on something as cultish as MST3K.
