I'm generally not a fan of reality tv, but in this case I make an exception. Who is your pick for the next American Idol? Mine: 1) Scooter Girl 2) The Little Person (she should win because she has a great voice. Randy and Simon patronize her.) It suck I don't know their names.

I avoid most other reality TV too, but I gave American Idol a chance this year, and I'm hooked already. As far as the winner, it's way too early to say. But Scooter Girl and, uh, the little person? There's no way either one will win. I plan to continue watching thru the season, but none of the upcoming shows will be as good as the first 3 or 4. The auditions are hilarious, though a little sad if you think too much about it. It's amazing how many talentless people are convinced otherwise. Some of the losers actually do have some talent, but are so blindly confidant of their "skills" that they can't see, or hear, their own flaws. My favorites are the ones that leave crying and yelling and cursing: "The show will totally suck without me, and when I have the number one album and I'm on top of the charts, they'll all be sorry!". How is it that some people are unaware of the fact that a voice sounds very different in the singer's ear than in the listener's ear?

The creator of American Idol and any other "reality type" show should be boiled in molten steel and burried miles beneath the surface of the Earth.
All those creepy shows are nothing but "rag mags" from the super market check-out line brought to life. Soap Operas for 2000 and beyond!

These reality shows, when it comes down to it, are what has killed good TV. Of course, the people who watch and support said shows should also be shot. Like Zappa said Kill Ugly Radio, I say, KILL UGLY TELEVISION!!!! Servo

Okay, let's open our minds here for a minute, let things air out.
There is good reality TV and bad reality TV, just as with any genre. Unfortunately the ratio is about 80% bad to maybe20% good right now. I and agree there is way too much of it out there, but to lump them all together is just lazy and ignorant.
I despise shows like Fear Factor, My Big, Fat, Obnoxious Fiancee, Average Joe and Big Brother too, but I don't wish their creators and viewers dead. I just wish the shows weren't on anymore, and someday they won't be. And good TV is not dead, just a little harder to find.
So you might want to take your pretentious heads out of your "cooler-than-thou" asses and try not to have such a knee-jerk reaction to things.
It doesn't help your case at all and just makes you look bad.

There is good reality TV and bad reality TV Um, no. There is no such thing as "good reality TV". First of all, it's all scripted. Second of all, I'm lways right when it comes to these things.

I see, so you watch every reality show that exists? Otherwise, how would you know there is no good?
All scripted? Every reality show is scripted? Now you're really clinging to ignorance.
Ah, this conversation is pointless, I see now. You're obviously the type of person who decides to think a certain way, and all contrary evidence is totally irrellevant.
I was kind of upset before, now I just pity you.

I despise shows like Fear Factor, I watch Fear Factor, but I don't veiw it as a reality show. It always seemed more like a game show to me.

I hate all reality shows. Think about it... In the 50's TV was good. It has wholesome, warming family shows. They were funny too. Then the 60's and 70's came along, where good, and bad sitcoms came out, but TV could still be tolerated. Then the 80's struck, and evil things emerged from TV. The early 90's was full of BAD sitcoms. Very, very bad. And the late 90's introduced reality shows. The new millenium is now nothing but reality shows. I Hate reality shows for many a reason: 1. They lack any imagination or effot Most things people say in reality shows are made up on the spot, by less than talented people 2. They're full of cheap laughs Almost anything in relaity shows, that are meant to make you laugh, are very, very cheap. Almost as cheap as the crap on new episodes of SNL. 3. There's no reality to it It's all staged crap. Survivor cold have been a neat show. If there was more survival involved. A more appropriate title would be: 'Backstabber' There are some shows that are concerned with reality, and are good, like COPS, and....COPS. See the list runs thin. And why is COPS good? Because it's real! It deserves the title of 'reality'. These new "reality" shows should be called "Society Destroyers". I completely agree. I hate TV today. Reality has ruined everything. Is there any good first run comedy show on TV today?
