The last two episodes were decent, but the part that really got me was the cold open with Jim biting his lip. It reminded me so much of how I react to that happening that it was spooky. It's completely infuriating, and I had to shake my head and smile when Jim stood up after the third time and mumbled "that's it, I'm going home."
I also liked everyone on the espresso trip.
And I agree, spice. Pam needs to deal with it. After all the dream chasing stuff, you'd think they'd both be in tune to Jim going for it. Pam, I liked you so much better when you were shy.

it only got worse tonight. *spoilers* you actually see some of the crew filming for the "documentary" at the end, as one of them comforts pam, who is crying about a fight she has with jim. i just know this will end up working in pam's favor. if i weren't so annoyed with her, i would have been more moved, because it was maybe the most serious ending the show has ever had. remember how funny the office used to be? WHY DO SHOWS DO THIS? they're supposed to be comedies. now it's all drama with a little comic relief. thank god for meredith's new wig. the dwight/darryl thing was okay at first, but it got old quick with me - dwight all frantic to keep darryl from leaving the company - he was too much like michael when stanley was going to go to the other branch. the milkshake thing was funny, though. i looked this up to see if it was really on youtube, but couldn't find it. yet. old dork - cracked me up. WHEN IS ANDY COMING BACK!? are they hoping we will just kind of forget about him? we already went through all those seasons with jim and pam - now pete and erin. enough already - put them together or drop it. i did laugh at nellie remembering her kiss with toby. i was wondering when they would bring that back up. poor toby - hope she won't crush him.

My first reaction to the 'fight' was, "Wow, I thought they had a better relationship than that." I thought the fight was stupid, and was just done to cause drama...then I got to thinking about it...I've had the same stupid fight with my wife many times. I commute 75 miles one way to work. Before my step-father past away, I would stay at his house three nights outta the week to save on gas and wear 'n tear on me and my vehicle. "You weren't there." "You should've been there." It hurts. Jim's reaction "You think I'm doing this for me?!"...I've felt it a thousand times. Sacrifice is a tough game.
Is it me or do you get the feeling sometimes that the other guys in "Jim's Company" prefer he not even be there? I dunno, but every time they show them together, it's like the others are annoyed, even pissed that he's got a life and is trying to run it from 125 miles away. "Uh, Jim? Do you mind?" is the feeling I get whenever they have a scene at the Philly office.
Oh, the cold opening...one of the best EVAH!! Dwight on a quest for the Holy Grail...Meridith's wig, as mentioned by spicey, and then whatshisname dunking his donut in the 'chalice' was priceless.
As I've said before, WE'RE DONE WITH PROLONGED "COURTSHIPS", you writers! S-, or get off the pot when it comes to Pete 'n Erin. Although I have no doubts that they'll walk off into the sunset with each other come the end of the season. Speaking of 'courtships' Mist Eddie's Faddah, I had forgotten all about Nellie and Toby's 'thing'. I think they wanted us to so that we would be as surprised as she was when he got into her space. I do not see them together, and I think they (writers, he being one of them) will use this to TOTALLY destroy Toby once and for all. I see him losing his mind, and stowing away on a ship to Equator, or wherever the heck he went back in Season 4.
The 'Dwight tempting Darryl' subplot felt strained. Or better yet, like a beaten horse.
Can't wait to see how the particulars sort out.
Darn! I almost forgot...the ENDING. Gratuitous. I understand it's the last season, and we've already seen more and more evidence of the 'fourth wall' coming down, (Pam and Jim's interview in the first episode, Dwight mentioning the film crew that's been following them for nine years now, etc), but there have been WAY more dramatic, even catastrophic things happen to these characters, and the camera was NEVER shut down...no one's feelings were EVER considered...I dunno, it just felt too...set-up, to me. What happened to Pam, anyway?

leave it to you to find the youtube 'fire in the hole' vid, change. and thanks for reminding me of the opening, of dwight on his treasure hunt. it cracked me up to watch the whole staff in the office follow him around as he worked on it - and the ending of the guy using the chalice in his coffee break was great. and now that you mentioned it, it does seem that jim looks kinda like he's in the way of the company he helped create. but he's committing to it more, hence the tension between he and pam. it just pisses me off, that stupid fight, because it was stupid. pam is acting as if this is the first fight they've ever had - like there were no bad days throughout their marriage and two pregnancies? no relationship is that perfect. i just know that once jim gets over being mad he will feel massive guilt for making pam cry and will talk himself into quitting and staying in scranton. i don't want toby to be destroyed! he deserves some happiness after his tenure there. i could maybe see he and nellie together. possibly. i mean, i never thought i would ever like nellie, and i do now. stranger things have happened. if anything, maybe it will be revealed toby was the scranton strangler all along.

"Junior Salesman" How cool was that? Dwight's minions...all in one room. Priceless. I think Nate is becoming my favorite new character... So, Dwight went to "X-Man" school, huh? LOL!! It only took him a few years to catch on...some never did. Amazing. So, Brian the boom operator is in love with Pam. Has he not been paying attention for the last nine years? Does he think he really think he has a chance with Pam? "Vandalism" What the heck was that for? What happened in that episode? We found out that Jim is Oscar Madison, and Darryl is Felix Unger. Oh, and it gave us a chance to see Brian "go to the mat" for Pam. Is this gonna be an issue, or is it just insight to the 'crew' we've never seen for nine years? The senator's being a little obvious, don't you think? Oscar thinks he's in love...really? Sorry, Oscar BUGS me BIG TIME. And yet...THAT'S TELLIN' HIM, KEVIN!! Dwight misses Angela, no duh. Loved Angela's line about the guests at the kid's birthday party, "No children allowed." Again, I have to say that the people populating "Athlead" really treat Jim like the redheaded step-child...and I thought David liked Jim? Great running gag with Meridith and her wigs... Will Clark escape?

Some of the reasons we miss Michael... Sorry, couldn't let the last season go further without this flashback...again. Thanks for indulging me.

yeah, seeing the applicants for dwight's interview (why does he in charge of this?) was great. seeing them all in one room reminded me of the old insane asylums from the eighteen hundreds, with just a bunch of loons walking around babbling to themselves while people paid a couple of pennies to gawk at them. my favorite, by far, was mose. it's always mose. watching him run away was so funny. i read somewhere that he is one of the writers for the show - so hard to imagine for me. again, they had dwight behaving waaay too much like michael for me. this is exactly the way michael would handle it - not wanting to be the bad guy to tell them all none of them will get the job and pushing it on someone else. still entertaining, though - especially this - jim and darryl living together - change is right - they are just the new oscar and felix. but i'd rather watch jim and darryl live together than jim and pam right now. sorry! it just made me go into overtime with the eye rolling that the first episode was dedicated to finding someone acceptable to sit next to pam. but i'm glad clark got it - he is growing on me. ^how great is that picture of angela!? i loved it. and again, i agree with change - oscar is being a douche. it's like he and angela have an understanding now, which is pathetic. i never have liked the senator and they really went out of their way to make him as distasteful as possible. and way to go, kevin! this makes up for how they have morphed him into a brainless blob that has seemingly nothing to contribute. i totally didn't expect that. now this thing pam and jim did to the guy's truck. what did pam expect?? did she think the guy would just shrug and overlook it? didn't his behavior in the conference room tip anyone off? and brian, the boom mic guy is the only one to get in trouble? i'll assume the guy who tried to attack pam was fired too, but pam and dwight get off without consequence? and cheers to brian, boom mic guy, for stepping in and saving pam's butt. it doesn't automatically mean he loves her. but it does make me wonder - where was he when roy went to attack jim? or any of the other unexpected events - meredith's hair catching on fire, dwight using meredith to catch the bat, etc? we all know this guy is not going to break jim and pam up. he'll cause a little more friction, perhaps, but come on. they wouldn't go out like that. .....or would they.....? nah.

Couples Discount: Did you know: Andy is a totally self-absorbed douche bag..? Andy left "chunky lemon milk" in the refrigerator..? Darryl and Oscar are NOT a cute couple..? They have to use a watch repair kit to detail Angela's feet at the nail salon..? Erin's really, really bad when it comes to breaking up..? This is the first time Andy looked terrible in a coat and tie...? The warehouse caught on fire..? Dunder Mifflin now sells balloons..? Kathy Ireland is their spokesmodel..? Why have they turned Andy into such a douche? I haven't hated him this much since he was in Stamford. We got sketchy details since he left on that boat, but now we know the extent to which he ignored his 'girl friend', yet kept David Wallace in the dark about his absence. How could David NOT know that Andy's been gone for THREE MONTHS? Especially after what happened last episode? While the 'proceedings' were going on (specifically the assault, firings, vandalism, outstanding sales), David never said, "Where's Andy?"...COME ON!!! This show is quickly becoming Night Court. Some good stuff: Dwight's impression of Andy when he would get his sales orders signed off, "Rick-a-dick-a-dooo!" Made me laugh out loud... Clark throwing Nellie under the bus when she made fun of him...way to go, Clark!.. Dwight to Andy: "(GASP) You're back!...and you're disgusting." Dwight calling Andy, "Turd Dog"... Dwight: "I have this 'boy cries wolf' relationship with David Wallace...'cept that I'm a man who cried genetically engineered monster wolf." Pete exasperation with Meredith: "Why does no one stop her?!?" Meredith's - I believe - fourth wig: A blonde fall... Did you see how small Angela looked when she was sitting in that chair? Erin killed two birds when she finally broke up with Andy...I'm proud of you, Erin. In Closing: Writer's made a good choice having Jim & Pam fight on Valentine's Day rather than split...I'm beginning to think this Brian thing is gonna turn bad...I just got a funny feeling. Did you notice Jim's distraction with his phone and Pam having to grab his hand to hold it? How come no mention of new boom guy by old boom guy? Every time I watch another episode, it feels more and more like Andy is Michael's clone...all of his behavior this season is right outta Michael Scott's playbook. For those of you who watch this on Hulu, they even have a quick intro where Andy turns to the camera and crack a funny face...Michael. Maybe I'm being unfair, but THIS WAS NOT THE MAN WE SAW LAST SEASON! Again, character regression seems to be the 'new normal'...Kevin's milk, for instance...cute, but, really? "Who's that girl? Who's that girl?...It's Andy!"

Pete exasperation with Meredith: "Why does no one stop her?!?" that cracked me up - i forgot. pete and clark are really growing on me. and it was funny how tiny angela looked in that chair - how all the women that worked there were cooing and ahh'ing and ooh'ing over her.

Clark and Pete have really made themselves at home, as far as I'm concerned. They feel very much a part of this group. They're also slightly unknown quantities, which I think is important for the dynamic of this show. We know everyone else so well that it's good we have a pair that fit in and can still surprise us without going to extremes.
I'm hoping the whole Brian thing isn't the only peek we get into the documentary crew. Having someone from the crew fall for Pam is actually not that bad an idea - it mirrors how Jim admired her from afar and couldn't have her back when she was with Roy. But there's so much more they could be doing with that doc crew.
Andy has always been a bit of a tool. This latest version of that doesn't surprise me that much.
Still, all around not too terrible. I'm liking it.

interesting show last night...you can tell they are starting to make moves to an ending. i thought this would make me sad, and i'm sure i'll be nostalgic during the last episode, but i'm ready for it to end. i've made my peace with it. man, they are really going out of their way to make andy as big a douche as possible. i can see his side of it to a point - no one wants to watch their ex date a co-worker right in front of you. but it isn't as if erin and pete are rubbing his nose in it. and the whole thing is andy's fault, so he only has himself to blame. i did like this line: "yeah, so life gives you lemons, you just gotta eat 'em, rinds and all. and if you don't wanna eat them, your ex-girlfriend will shove them down your throat with the help of her hunky new boyfriend. so that's fun." i liked how long it took andy to realize who pete was - after calling him plop for so long. and clark reeled me in when he made that comment about giving pete $100 to wear andy's blue sweater he gave erin to work the next day. it was fun to see gabe again - i wonder if i was the only person who liked him. he was so weird. after all this JAM drama with the boom mic guy, going to philly - it was good to see them concentrate on dwight and angela again. it was funny to watch them coax dwight's horrible aunt to clean up - especially after that bitch slap she gave angela. but dwight actually moved me in last night's ep - the way he watched angela braid his aunt's hair - it was so touching. dwight has been acting particularly goofy lately, so it was nice to see a more human side to him as he made one more play for angela. and when she refused, he took it like a man - dare i say, a gentleman. i'm hoping all this is to eventually push them back together for good. they are the only two who could put up with the other, i imagine. now - bob odenkirk as the man who interviewed pam for her real estate agent position. i don't watch breaking bad, but he did a great job as another form of michael scott. as i watched pam follow him around with a half smile on her face, i thought - this is how it will work - pam will take the job and have another michael to take care of and it will make her transition to philly smoother. but maybe not. i have been waiting for pam to say ^ that for the last half dozen eps now. okay, that's fine - but is moving to philly to support her husband's dream that much of a reach for her?? how selfish is it to expect him to throw it away so they can continue to work in a place they seem irritated with most of the time. i just want to kick pam. and once, just ONCE i want jim to stand up to her. ^that made me realize it's coming to an end. the first explanation of what this has all been about. poor toby!

I'm with you on Pam. I don't know what she thinks she needs to cling to in Scranton. I mean, I realize Dunder Mifflin is like family, but come on. You only live once, Pam, get on board with Jim and go for it.
And I loved, loved, loved Odenkirk. I remember back in the old days, somewhere around the season 2 and 3 area, I had a discussion with my a fellow fan about who else could have possibly made the Michael Scott roll work. We both agreed Bob Odenkirk would have been about as good as anybody. And lo and behold, there he is last night. We so pumped it was him. And he did a darn good job of trying to be as annoyingly likable while not being an exact duplicate of Michael. It was a really great moment for us as fans.
And Andy is getting old. Wish Wallace had fired him.
