"Moving On"
I'm writing this without reading the prior write ups, so forgive me if I'm repetitive...
I guess Toby's not the Scranton Strangler...
That was the most uncomfortable episode of The Office I've ever watched...aside from maybe "The Dinner Party" from Season 4...
Did you know...
J.B.Jovi is a poet...?
Vanilla Ice was a band...?
Pete's butt is sick!...?
Gabe's butt is like a warm pumpkin...?
Dwight's got an aunt Shirley...? (I have an aunt Shirley, hmm...and don't call me Shirley...)
Pete's nickname is Plop...?
Clark has several, including, but not limited to: Clarker Posey;AKA Clarkwork Orange, and Zero Clark Thirty...?
Andy contracted ch-lamydia from Erin...?
Angela can handle a firehose...?
Meredith e-mails pictures of her 'junk' to Pete...?
The Scranton Strangler's name is George Howard Skub...?
Mose use to have a lady scarecrow...?
Gabe has a Nike swoosh tattoo in honor of Erin...?
Gabe is smooth as a porpoise in honor of Erin...?
Gabe doesn't have the lung capacity to blow a whistle...?
WOW! I feel like I just got punished...how uncomfortable was that?
First off, and this has been a pet peeve of mine with this show from the beginning: Where do these people get off talking to their bosses the way they do? Where do they get off having an attitude that the company owes them their job? Where do they get off thinking that NO MATTER WHAT THEY DO, they're not gonna get fired? The way Andy talks to David when he's CLEARLY in the wrong!? They've done it time and again with this show, from Michael to Dwight to Andy...and now, they've done it again...I know, I know, it's a COMEDY, Change...still, too over the top.
Why are the writers trying to make me hate every character that I've loved for so long? Like I said before, Andy was a douche in Stamford, and early on, but he grew, and we grew to care about him. Pam was shy, and awkward, and she really grew over the years to become a great wife and mom....why are they making me hate them, now? I don't know how much more inappropriate or down right evil Andy can get. THEN, we are served up Alice, Pete's ex-girlfriend...WOW! What a beeeotch! I have to admit some of the Gabe stuff made me laugh, but his lecherous behavior toward Erin was just over the line. The whole argument scene went on waaay to long, and I would have walked out or punched someone long before it got there. Now, Pam...what the F-?!? NOW she tells Jim that she's not sure about giving up their life in Scranton?! How douchey is that? And the way she acts when Jim tells her that this is news to him..."Really?" Pardon me ladies, but when you pull that crap of 'you should've known what I was thinking' you've lost me.
Another gripe, Andy's "Michael Scenes":
Crying on Camera Scene
Wailing in Office
Firing Scene
Toby HR Scene
Booger Bubble Scene
Brozone Scene
Some funny lines:
Andy - "When people say office relationships are a good idea, they never talk about what might happen if you break up."
Andy - "Every phrase is like a dagger in my crotch."
Clark - "I will pay you $100 to wear that sweater to work tomorrow."
On the bright side: I found the scenes with Angela, Dwight and Aunt Shirley surprisingly touching, and it gives me hope for Angela and Dwight to finally be together...they belong together...always have.
Oh, and this:
It just occurred to me that I didn't even mention the "Michael Scott of Real Estate"...
I'm ambivalent...while I enjoyed the premise, the execution was...m'eh...one thing that was interesting, when I closed my eyes, the voice and the delivery were spot-on. The guy did a great Michael Scott impression, and I appreciate the spirit of the scenes. Oh, and the call back when Pam responded to his joke, and he called her a 'great audience':
Despite how this episode made me feel, I can't wait for the rest of the wrap up...I still really like this show, and still hope that they will go out in style, and not...stink.
