I'm going to guess that #18 is José Elías Moreno who played the title role in "Santa Claus."

Nope! You're both, surprisingly, wrong. No hints!

Well, is it John Call who played Santa Claus from "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians"?

Well, is it John Call who played Santa Claus from "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians"? Still no! And still no hints!

Okay, it's probably the beard that's throwing us off, but I'm going to stick with it. Is #18 the Santa Claus captain from Space Mutiny?

I think the beard may be causing some issues, but I think there's another element that's more responsible for it being so evidently baffling. I'll give that as a hint if one more guess misses it. And since it's Tuesday, here's #19: Edit after identification as Herk Harvey from "Speech: Platform Posture and Appearance":

Is #18 Bruce Cowling from The Painted Hills?

Is #18 Coleman Francis with hair & a fake beard?

Is #18 Coleman Francis with hair & a fake beard? Finally! I was wondering if I was going crazy. I can't assert for sure whether it's a fake beard, but it's definitely Coleman Francis. One more point for you! BTW, the element that I was referring to in my previous post was that the picture was in color, despite being taken in 1956, years before Francis' appearances in the "older looking" B&W movies that were on MST3k.

Just to throw in here - I'm reading all of this with interest, but thus far I wouldn't have gotten any of these. To be fair, I haven't seen all of the episodes, and since I tend to 'watch' them at work (i.e. - listen to them through my headphones while the screen is minimized), I tend to stick to ones I already know simply because I'd rather actually see new ones when I have the time to do so, and not hear them and have no idea what the visual is behind the jokes.
Anyhoo, lack of participation doesn't equal lack of interest. I'm suspecting that I speak for others here too - it's a fun thread.

Your comment about the other element made me wonder about the hair, so I pictured #18 bald and thought, "Holy crap! That's Coleman Francis!"

Wow! I am sick to my stomach that I didn't get Coleman Francis. As I was going through the list of episodes just trying to get a hint, I even said to myself--"well, its definitely not Coleman Francis..." Darn!!! Well done, Mr. Atari. *still kicking myself*
I have an unfair advantage on #19, because I'm a huge fan of Carnival of Souls and there is an obvious link to MST3k shorts. That is Herk Harvey, "the Speech Guy" from many shorts like "Speech: Platform, Posture & Appearance"... which was, in fact, featured on Red Zone Cuba, which was directed by and stars COLEMAN FREAKIN' FRANCIS!!! I'm going to be ill...

Is #8 an older, fatter version of the lead in Rocket Attack USA? I was watching that last night and thought of this thread.

Amazing! #8 is finally found out! Yes! That's John McKay, the lead in Rocket Attack USA. That's an altered screencap from the movie The Dead One, which he did with RAUSA's director Barry Mahon in 1961. (I cut away the picture of the zombie hiding behind the stairs, because I didn't want that being what enabled someone to identify McKay) And yes, #19 is Herk Harvey, who's no doubt calling back his role as the Revenant in Carnival of Souls, but he was the focal character, if there is indeed such a thing, in "Speech: Platform Posture and Appearance". I actually didn't intend to have two straight entries from the same episode, but there we are. So, the score so far: 1-7 sirhamhat 8 Mr. Atari 9 sirhamhat 10 Mr. Atari 11 sirhamhat 13-17 sirhamhat 18 Mr. Atari 19 sirhamhat #12 is still available! Here's #20: Edit after identification as John Agar from Revenge of the Creature, The Mole People and Women of the Prehistoric Planet:

There's no way in a million years I would have known that except that I happened to watch that episode last night. What are the odds? (With 198 episodes, the odds would be 198 to 1, I guess.) And #12 looks like he has the small, girlish facial features of the pasta-throwing dickweed in Zombie Nightmare who grew up to be a huge Hollywood director, Shawn Levy. But that picture looks way too old to be him.
