In about 30 minutes we're approaching the 24-hour Mark. I'm not 100% sure it's going to get funded by then, but it might come in under the wire.

Kickstarter is fascinating and scary. [edited] 132 people have pledge close to half a million dollars. That's like 25% of the total from 132 people, or a little more than 1% of the backers. Good for Joel getting this kind of financial support so quickly. It really speaks to the loyalty he engenders among fans. But...if the goal is creating a streaming service as a permanent home for content, and as a funding source to create that content, a better number to focus on for both Joel and the fans would be the total backer number. He is going to need people who are interested in subscribing and willing to do that on a long term basis, and he's going to need tens of thousands of them to pay monthly or yearly subscription fees. 25,000 people paying $10 a month wouldn't fund a single episode using Joel's own numbers, after the Kickstarter funds run dry.

I’m not sure where to find this info, but someone posted in the Kickstarter comments that this is the first Kickstarter for 10% of the backers.

That only 10% of backers benefit from the Kickstarter? For one in ten MST3K backers, this is the first project that they have ever donated to.

3 episodes funded. 2 million, 10,521 backers. Avg pledge $190.09 Well, Joel has certainly exceeded my expectations. I was expecting the worst (a live tour), but I got the best instead: a TV show. And it's already funded! Crazy, considering less than 2 days ago, I thought MST3k was dead.
