Per Joel in the update, they're going to make downloading/watching all the episodes post Kickstarter "more expensive" than if you do the $100 reward level for 1 year and digital downloads. Which I suppose makes sense as an incentive to get in NOW, but that begs the question... 100 for 12 month subscription is 8.33 a month; how much more can you make a per month subscription for someone subscribing post-Kickstarter that wouldn't be a total no-go? That is, how much are you realistically expecting a new consumer to pay per month? And is that price what the Gizmoplex will cost KS backers starting the 2nd year or whenever their backed tier level runs out? I'm saying, what's the business model besides coming to fans every year directly for money. How do you plan to make this self-sufficient? We'll see, I guess. Rifftrax and The Mads both charge $10 per “episode,” I think that would seems pretty reasonable. Especially if the $10 per month gets you an episode and a short.

Kolos probably answered my question. The Gizmoplex and its subscription is probably the way to keep the show going consistently and perpetually after the season we are funding. How much it will cost subscribers, Joel couldn't know exactly outside rough estimates. A lot of unknowns in starting your own streaming service with your own content. But i can tell you this: it would be much cheaper for everyone since they wont be spending 2 million on a Kickstarter campaign or having to make a network money. That's a lot of money they'd be saving by cutting out any middlemen, not to mention ensuring complete creative control and ownership over content.

I was thinking the same and just looked at my receipt for the Mads - mine comes to $12.24 total with fees for each show, and I've bought a ticket every month, which comes with the free download. If Joel reaches his goal and we do get 12 movies and shorts, I'm happy with $10 a month... I might have to upgrade my pledge and get it for less.

"And, since I've seen a lot of you asking, I'll also tell you that we've also got some big plans to expand the world – and cast – of Mystery Science Theater 3000, so... I'll tell you more about that soon." Oh, whatever. He went on and on about that waverly bot last KS, and then it was in like 1 or 2 segments of one episode.

Is there an ignore feature in this forum, or do I just have to put up with the constant blabber from this one poster?
In happier news, I finally found a reasonably priced used VHS of Amazing Colossal Man, to sit beside my Reptilicus VHS and the rest of my official DVDs. And yes, I do still have a working VCR should I feel the urge to "be kind and rewind".
Back to the topic, I'm super psyched at this new KS. It's been a tough year for everyone and I'm glad to have something to look forward to.

Day 3 of the 2021 Kickstarter made less than day 3 and fewer backers than day 3 of the 2015 Kickstarter as well. But, of course, the campaign is well ahead of where the 2015 Kickstarter was at this point.
2021 day 3: $205,454 1,404 backers
2015 day 3: $243,598 2,413 backers.
Oddly, day 4 of the 2015 campaign had 1,404 backers, the exact same number as day 3 this year.

I hope they use the two new robots more this season - I really liked them! Smaller Gypsy is superfluous and should be thrown out an airlock.

It's been a tough year for everyone and I'm glad to have something to look forward to. I don't have a problem with Bob. He brings up legitimate complaints. Some I agree with and some I don't. His complaints are based on real things. To me there's a difference between "I don't like this for reason 1, reason 2 ..." and "I don't like it because it stinks" without any attempt to explain or give any reasons. Disagreement is not toxic. I'm also a Star Trek fan. That can get toxic. In any topic about any of the new shows there's usually 20% of the posters complaining about the shows because they aren't cast by all white men. Or they just make statements that start with "Everyone knows..." and when people ask for evidence they just keep repeating the same thing over and over again.

There was a pretty big jump about $28,000 in about 3 hours and only about ~150 new backers. Avg new donation about ~$190. I'm thinking there was a big dollar level tier backer.

Avg pledge $ per day:
Day 1: $200.85 Day 2: $156.44 Day 3: $146.33 Day 4 so far: $179.92
So definitely some big money backers today. We'll see if it gets averaged out by the end of the day.
I'm thinking by the end of the day tomorrow we should get a pretty good grasp on the average pledge breakdown. The most popular tier is the 100 level, but with add-ons its hard to tell for sure. There are still $1000+ slots open, so the big money support will be coming in for a few more days to prop up the average. I just haven't had the time yet to really dig into the numbers to see what your average Joe MSTie is giving. I've said before my best guess is in the 135-150 range, and Days 2-3 support that, but there's still too many big pledges per day to really know. And that real average is going to be important to know at least half the equation of the final amount.
The other half, turnout is still a total guess at this point.
We know that close to 100% who participated last time are aware of the KS (unless they don't check their emails or haven't unsubscribed, died, etc) either thru emails or social media or the Facebook group (which still has 40k+ in it). So far, assuming 10% of backers are totally new to KS, a little over 25% of the original 48k have pledged 48% of the original KS amount. Based on my prior rough math of a 15% increase in tier prices, this roughly lines up. The extra 8% is probably due to new small $ donors and to the biggest backers not being averaged out yet.
They could pretty easily match the amount raised last time, they'd need a little over 41k backers. Around 40.5k to get 12 eps.
But. I still don't have any idea what final turnout is. There is one question pertaining to that turnout that I think is worth asking so far:
If 25% of the original backers turned out so QUICKLY, where is everyone else?
I'm probably missing something or my math is wrong or I'm conflating different issues, but this is my basic back of the napkin math

That's pretty much like saying "12,000 MSTies came out so quickly, where's the rest of the fanbase?" at this same point in the first KS. They're coming, dont worry. Hell, they're still pouring in, we are looking at 150k for the day and im sticking to my prediction of hitting 2.7 million by tomorrow's end, which will get us to just under 50% funded, with the first week not even close to done yet. We haven't hit the "crawl" yet.
Also im expecting that average pledge to go down but not as low as the previous KS's average, I think most people are going for the 100 tier then picking add-ons, which is jacking up pledges to 150-200. The first KS, they had to do add-ons separate, which led to 600k not being part of the official KS total. Now that the add-ons are part of the KS, that changes things, including more people going for add-ons

I regularly see people say things like “I’ll back it on Friday when I get paid,” despite the fact that the money doesn’t come out of their account until the campaign ends. Some people may decide to wait to see what kind of stretch goals get added. Last time things were added like more classic episodes if certain goals were hit by certain times. Similarly, I expect more people will start to jump in at the $100 and $250 levels once the campaign unlocks 6 and 9 episodes. Once more value for those levels unlock, they become more attractive.
