MST3K the HOME GAME! Make your own theater set up, and record with yourself and your own puppets! It's the only way to be sure.

Bruh, the show doesn't even need a host. K17 - Time of the Apes is the best episode. I mean KTMA Gamera showed you don't even need bots either so let's just leave the theater blank

Future of MST3K is only doing silent films.. no riffing while Growler plays the 'score' in comedic counterintuitive fashion.

FYI, just saw over on the other message board that if one buys episodes directly through the new app, they're $9.99, but if you go to the VHX MST site, directly, they're only $7.99. Ivan explained in the thread that this is due to the fees Apple/Google/etc... take off the top of sales, but the MST crew isn't allowed to advertise the cheaper episode price in the apps, themselves.

I don't get it. How does apple/google factor in all?

I think pretty much any time a purchase is made of anything through an app on a device, the company whose device hosts the app gets a cut. Pretty common sticking point in negotiations when streaming services come to apps. At least in this instance we've got a way to circumvent that.
ETA: This is just how all this stuff works. When the books I publish at my small university press sell through Amazon (or any other retailer) the retailer gets a cut (as does our distributor).

It's true and sucks. But wow, a 25% mark-up is pretty steep. They are trying to get people on board their new platform, I would think they would want to keep prices competitive even if they have to eat a little profit.

I don't get it... it's the opposite on rifftrax.
for example their VOD riff for Contamination..
it's 9.99 on rifftrax.com.. it's 7.99 to buy the video on amazon.com.

Amazon is a fickle beast that sets prices weirdly with loss leaders and what not. I don't know how all the details work, but Amazon pretty much seems to be able to set prices in weirdly arbitrary ways. Looking at the MST page now, King Dinosaur is 19.99, and everything else they are selling appears to be 6.99. I know with physical media, Amazon can jerk around prices like crazy (vinyl jazz enthusiasts might know what I'm talking about when you see Blue Note reissues swing between $22 and $35 depending on stock levels and what not). I honestly don't know how the streaming agreements work--maybe Amazon doesn't have as much freedom with digital content, but I wouldn't be surprised if they can pretty much do what they want within the confines of their agreement.

Amazon isn't an app though (even though you might be using an app to reach them). I think the key here is your buying something through an app. The premium is going to apple and google.

The issue is hardware. You want your stuff on a apple/android/roku product, you have to pay the toll if you want the owners of those items to have access to what you are selling on those platforms.

Likely it's just because they are such a market leader they can get better terms with apple/android/roku/sony.. but it still amazes me how it's on the app and cheaper than going to the rifftrax website. Example: Time chasers live show is 5 whole dollars cheaper on Amazon Prime App compared to the rifftrax.com website. It's insane. but whatever.. I can work with it. Just glad to have the app for mst3k for the stuff I own on VHX.
