Hearing Tom & Crow voiced by strangers is unsettling. I could overlook the cast change for the Reboot, but the way they're going about things now has a seedy, Bozo-the-Clown franchise feel to it.

Weird. And mildly unsettling.

All they way back in the original KS when Joel started referring to not Tom and Crow or the bots or anything but instead kept saying "the puppets", I kind of had the beginnings of a bad feeling about it that has only gotten worse. I might not use the word 'seedy' but yes, like a franchise feel. You too can start your own MST3K branch! Call today for details!!

The touring crew have been with the show, what, three years now? They don't feel like strangers to me anymore, especially after all the watch alongs earlier this year. Did you miss Conor's excellent rendition of the Starfighters song during the Kickstarter telethon? How about Nate's incessant Ed Wynn impersonation during the Jackbox challenges? Are you not familiar with Mega Synthia and Emily yet? When they first snuck the touring cast into the roster with little fanfare, I resisted too. Now, in retrospect, I'm glad, in a way, that Joel brought these new players in. It allows for new talent to shine alongside the previous. They've won me over.

I don't have a problem with how they sound. I was more referring to how things look. That cgi background is distracting. Tom's cloudy dome is distracting. Weird, mini-Gypsy is both weird and distracting. Their voices are fine (although I'm not sure I'll ever get used to a woman voicing Gypsy or whatever iteration that is).

Yeah, if there's one thing I really don't care for, it's the weird baby version of Gypsy. I don't care about the name as much, because I'm still gonna call her Gypsy regardless. But I hope the mini version is not her standard design from now on. I want her to be big AND beautiful!

I gather the frosted dome is a result of the CGI background - according to one of the cast/crew, it films better. I've also read that the original domes, with the traditional seam running through in the middle, rather than the sides, is near impossible to get anymore - so between that and not having a practical set, looks like that'll have to be the look.
But I'm with you, I prefer the clear dome. (And the original Gypsy to the mini-GPC)

"You're not my real father!!!" i'm going to be pissed if they reveal all the movies for Season 13 but not the Gizmoplex launch plan

I find it unnecessary to reveal all 13 titles at once. Especially considering some of these movies won't be seen for over a year. Wouldn't it make more sense to use the 12 shorts they're doing as early announcement videos of the upcoming full episode movie? Get some buzz going and get people to watch those also?

It does look lackluster. Does not help that I recently rewatched ICWXP ep. 205 and had forgotten how well produced they were.

Does anyone else feel the SoL background in the promo looks blurry? I know it's green screen, but it looks slightly out of focus. That, along with the voiceover sounding like it was recorded in a bathroom, is not filling me with confidence on how the new episodes, at least the Emily ones, are going to look and sound.

Update, which will now be on Saturday, just dropped with Gizmoplex news.
Gizmoplex is launching in phases with Phase 1 being the very basic features, registering an account, browsing and streaming episodes, and livestream events. And once Phase 1 is ready and working, they are premiering the first episode. But it sounds like they have a hard deadline for the release of the first episode as "we're aiming to have [phase 1] working in time for the premiere of Episode 1301". Definitely sounding like they are only having the episodes they need done for the launch ready.
What they call the FIRST beta test will start in December with the volunteer sign-up happening in early December. Then there will be public beta phase. But if they are just using already developed platforms and tools, they shouldn't have many problems. They also say they will be comfortable with technical problems during the launch as there will be other channels available to access the content.
So sounding like the launch or premiere of the first episode is more like January. Definitely far away from that summer 2022 window.

We know that a lot of you have been eagerly awaiting more details about our progress on the Gizmoplex, and we’re looking forward to starting to share a little more of what we’re working on in these updates.
As we start to share our progress, please remember that our goal for the Gizmoplex was not to build a new platform from scratch, but to combine several other platforms and tools into a customized “MST3K-like” experience.
Throughout the Kickstarter campaign, we also know that many of you were clear that your pledges should be spent mostly on new episodes, and not on Gizmoplex development, so we’re doing our best to build our new theater with a very small team and budget.
Of course, that hasn’t stopped us from having a lot of additional, ambitious ideas and goals for how the Gizmoplex could work, so here’s our current plan: in order to make sure we’ve got the essential parts working, we’re now planning to launch the Gizmoplex in several phases.
For PHASE 1 – which we’re aiming to have working in time for the premiere of Episode 1301 – we want to make sure that the Gizmoplex site will allow you to:
Register and set up a Gizmoplex user account Link your account to your MST3K video library on VHX Browse and stream your collection of episodes Browse a catalog of all episodes available to rent and / or buy Attend the livestream premieres and special events While there’s a lot more we’re aiming to do – especially in creating social viewing and interaction, adding watch parties, etc – some of those features will require more time to test and release, which means they probably won’t be part of the Gizmoplex when it first opens. However, as our “Founding Members”, we promise to keep you informed about the plans as we go.
BETA TESTING: If everything stays on schedule, we’re hoping to start our first small-scale beta test in December with about 100 volunteers, and then expand to more public beta as soon as we’re ready. If you’re interested in volunteering to join the beta test, keep an eye on these weekly updates: we’ll provide a link to a volunteer registration form in early December.
BACKUP OPTIONS: To safeguard your experience, we’re also working to make sure that – even if the Gizmoplex site experiences technical problems in the beginning – you’ll still be able to attend all livestream events and access all of your own video collection through other channels. More specifically, you will always have the ability to watch all content directly on VHX, as well as through the MST3K apps that we’ll be releasing before the first new episode premieres.
We’ll explain more about how all of these options work as we get closer.
