Okay, so I don't want to turn this thread into mock the other site, but oh my god... I know. Season 13 is AS GOOD AS IT GETS. High replay, modern references, good variety, memorable skits, and THREE HOSTS!!! The season might as well be Yellowstone or Breaking Bad and certain MSTies still wouldn’t bother giving it a chance or seeing if it grows on them. That’ll occur later, years after the show goes dormant and then some of these folks will marvel at how good it is and then weep the program is no more. Too late. The damage is done. And I’ve seen this coming because I’ve seen this before. Some faithful grow so close to whatever they cede any rational observation due to their love of what was. A destructive trait if I do say so myself. I mean, really. what? That's not real right? Like they're being pranked from within right? I mean, I'll go so far as to say that 13 wasn't even the worst overall season. Certainly the worst in terms of host segments, but there was some decent riffing along the way. Comedy's the most subjective thing there is - that or music maybe - so I know it's going to hit other people in different ways. It's not inconceivable that this person might legitimately think this was the pinnacle of MST3K. But the tone-deafness is remarkable. They're as blindly in love with the new stuff as they claim some of the detractors are with the classics. It'd be funny if it weren't so sad.

We have reached the "minutes" part of the countdown for my fellow insomniacs. 57 left. I want it to start counting back up when it hits zero, ha.

Let's talk about the movie selections. I would say yet another miscalculation by Joel. Yes, I know there are some riff fans that are all about, "you gotta riff this movie" but I was never one. Pick some movie I've never heard of and let's go. But another point. They made a big deal this time about lining up the movies, but correct me if I'm wrong, but most of them were owned by shout and isn't Plan 9 public domain. Big chunks of the budget shouldn't have been going here. To be fair, they never specifically said anything about movie licensing being part of the budget. The very vocal "everything is fine" fans were the ones that kept yelling about how expensive movie licensing is to justify the high budget. But yes, the fact that they're all previously owned/released by Shout or PD did undercut that. My hunch is they are deeply in debt and were trying to load up the cheap movies first so they could take the 'per episode cost' and get out of debt.. knowing that they and rifftrax has set a narrative that sold folks on the idea that it takes a few hundred thousand dollars to get movie rights per film.

I just want to go to bed.
Get some rest, health comes first. This isn't an election or whatever - it isn't worth staying up for. The results will be there when you wake up.

They keep getting more pledges. I don't get it. It HAS to be diehards putting more in right? No one else cares. Well except for us, but we're just watching.

I see the occasional post on the official forum of people doubling-up pledges.

But the fact that between the hours of noon and midnight, the average pledge was up around 10-13k an hour, and after midnight immediately fell to ~2-3k an hour the MINUTE 2.7 mil hit...certainly isn't a coincidence.

All I know is, I'm starting a post-mortem thread the minute it closes, and then going to bed.
