So sunday I was watching my german MTV (it's weird we only get the german mtv, but I can understand it cause it's all english programs with german subtitles) and they where had a show called "bootie call" about half way through I was getting sick, all they where showing were the girls butts... why?? there are plenty of guys out there with nice asses. In fact i noticed all the songs out there about asses are always about girls, why doesn't a girl singer make a song about boys asses?? and be like the thong song where all they show are butts, I would like, LOVE that song, Yeah, girls can be as shallow as guys sometimes. Come on singers, give a tribute to the man's fine ass!

women sell more. They attract more attention in general. The only thing on MTV anymore are black males and white women. They have become the majority, from what I've noticed anyway. When ever you find yourself in such a situation just repeat "marketing, marketing, marketing."
Which leaves me with one question: "where are the white wemens at?"

I lived in Stuttgart for three years - there was a gameshow called "Tutti Fruiti" on RTL 2 (I think) that involved women exposing themselves, seemingly at random. My German wasn't that strong (still isn't) so I had a difficult time with the context. Not that I had a problem with that, but in retrospect it was kinda....strange. -Alleged.

I feel your language based pain, Mary The Robot, for I was in France and for some reason they had english TV in German subtitles.
But for girls objectifying men, there is a song on Nellie McKay's new album (BUY NOW. YOU WON'T REGRET IT.) called "It's a Pose" where she does that. Also, a lot of cult-y unknown bands probably do that, so just be sharp.

yeah the point is, actually this is an example, men always treat the women as objects, but it's not popular to treat the men as objects? where's this equal rights thing? I find that the song "can't hold us down" best discribes what I'm trying to say, but I won't write it right now cause I'm lazy. maybe later.

Girls asses? Yeah there needs to be more equal opportunity in my humble opinion. I mean, girls have lots of other good parts besides the ass. Nudge, nudge, know what I mean, know what I mean? lol

Me, personally, I don't get it with you girls saying guys have nice.....a..asses-ugh! I can understand where we come from as it has to do with bosoms, cheaks and lips. They're all interconnected where Freud will tell you it's from being breast fed or something like this there now. But men's ...back parts are just plain nasty! Huge, pasty, hairy, gassy, ugh- dark cracked..... I think you guys (girls) do it to try to get even with our piggyness, 'cause I refuse to believe that ANYone finds the male buttocks at ALL attractive. There I'm done (thank god).

But if it's a female doctor, she might get all feminist and start telling you you have a great......pimply thing, which could lead to a misdiagnosis. See!? You, women are now starting to let your false beliefs infringe on basic medical practice. Get over our butts! There's nothing to see here!!!

Well, yousonuva, you described a very unattractive version of a man's ass, which plenty of guys have, but a woman could have such an ass, too. There is such a thing as male beauty, just look at Michelangelo's David. Baseball players and football players often have great butts.
I have noticed that men are very squeamish and uncomfortable when a woman talks about checking out a guy's ass. The issue that MaryT brought up about inequal representation of attractive body parts on MTV is very real. The media obviously caters to the male viewpoint of titillation and sexual pleasure. Women are displayed as sexual objects all over the place, while male objectification is scarce in comparison. All of these things come down to the fact that Western culture is a male-dominated society where women's true sexuality is repressed while simultaneously their bodies are exploited.
As soon as a woman says something like MaryT did, that there should be more objectification of men as long as women are being objectified, the general response of men is, "Hey, objectification is bad, it's not going to make the world a better place to objectify men more blatantly. If you women don't want yourselves to be objectified, then don't try to do the same thing."
I find this extremely hypocritical. Men don't lift a finger to stop the objectification of women, yet they attack a woman for doing the same thing to men? Heterosexual males can enjoy the benefits of the mainstream catering to their viewpoint of sexuality, while at the same time playing the "objectification is bad" trump card whenever a woman tries to bring objectification of men into the mainstream. So any guy who uses this argument with me can shove it.
Most men don't want to be put into a powerless position when it comes to sexuality. Having their asses checked out does exactly that, and it's the same for women. Because of it's location, the ass is a very vulnerable body part. You can't see it yourself most of the time, but other people can. Men would much rather have women look at their crotches, I'm guessing, than their asses, because what's down there is taken as a symbol of power to many men. Yes, look at my power stick, not my defenseless butt!
And the fact is, most men aren't going to do anything to level the playing field when it comes to what's portrayed in mainstream entertainment as a desirable sexual being. If women want more male bodies objectified, they're going to have to make it happen themselves. But there's a reason why female bands who do that are "unknown and culty". It's still mostly men in control of mainstream media. It's going to be a long time before more male objectification is seen in mainstream entertainment. Like I've said, most men aren't going to do a thing to change it!
I could also discuss the whole Janet Jackson breast exposure issue that Rowsdower eloquently wrote about in the SNL thread, but I'm not going to right now.

Women can show all the male ass they want to, just so long as there's a warning preceding it so I have time to change the channel. It's just like all television, we can just change the channel and not see it, but it's the unexpected ass or buffalo shot that gets us agitated. Just look at the bots whenever a guy's you know whats where right there in front of them. If there was a warning they could turn away in time to not be subjected to it. I know what you'll say, they view the movie several times before actually shooting it, but it's a male thing to do that no matter what. I feel sorry for the guys because they never had a remote.
If my rant made any sense, I'll be glad.

uh-oh, I'm being mistaken for an objectifier here. First lemme say, I agree there is definitely a beauty in all things, including us guys (I mean just look at me...ahe *squinting) and Rennosance (sp check) paintings really prove this. But I still stand my ground on the differences between male and female beauty. I just don't get it. I for one whole heatedly agree that sexuality is one sided in our sociaity, and always has been. This is because men are more inclined to buy nudie magazines and the like, because we're more admitting of such things. On the other hand though, if a woman is known to buy such things, she is much more vulnerable to scrutiny to it for being "easy" or "cheap". Which is unfair because there are nudie magazines with guys who look like me in them and you can't really blame them...ahe..... . I for one am not really that shallow and absolutely try to find more than just looks in a girl (humor is soooo important)and this social fear/ obsession with it really confuses me as it's such a natural entity and shouldn't be so damn shrowded (sp check). In Europe it's a little more accepted, but they too are very juvinile about it ( and don't even ask about Japan Sheeh) I am not at all objectifing (well sometimes when I think of really hot chicks, like Gina Gershon) and agree women need to be less judged when they find a handsome guy handsome. But I will never concur that we have gook looking rears. I know it wouldn't bother me if a girl thought I had a nice ...y'know, but that doesn't mean I'd understand why. Actually the most physicaly appealing thing about a woman to me is her face. It's all there, the eyes, the lips, the smile. And then maybe her money. I don't wanna work for the rest of my life, hehe. jk. good argument.
