There is another option, but it depends on the answers to two questions - how likely is it that Shout! can get the rights to Deadly Bees and Space Children and do they still have the rights to Wild World of Batwoman, Beginning of the End and Red Zone Cuba. I ask the second question because the Shout Select! releases for them seem scarce lately. I’m thinking of a path of least resistance - why kill yourself chasing RXM when you can just do Singles Vol. 2 with Deadly Bees, Space Children, Delta Knights, Batwoman, Beginning and Cuba? Just depends on the answers to the two questions I guess.

RXM, the other singles, and Delta Knights are 8 episodes so they could have two 4 episode sets then. |

The library system here got copies of the Invaders From Mars 4K and Blu-Ray discs, and I got ahold of the Blu-Ray with an included pamphlet that has a longform essay by former Disney archivist Scott MacQueen, who was the point man for movie's restoration.
His essay includes multiple references to a botched '1976 restoration', which I can only assume was the work of good ol' Wade Williams.

The comments Joel made about Wade Williams during the latest livestream and the revelation that they cleared two OOP movies for Turkey Day during the podcast makes me think we may finally get to officially see Rocketship XM show up during the marathon.

It depends on if whoever runs Wade's estate actually cares about Wade's specific wishes for RXM after he's gone.
It's one thing to start licensing out stuff Wade spent the last decade hoarding simply because he became an old kook because they can finally make money on that stuff. Its another to actively go against what Wade wanted (and may have set up legal mechanisms to prevent).

Yeah, I'm really not holding my breath too much with "Rocketship X-M" honestly.... Given Wade's toxicity with this movie and him wanting the episode to "go away" with his boomer self having little to no clue how the internet works, I'd say there's a good chance he was the type that gaslighted his employees to make sure it NEVER sees the light of day. That old interview we got of him back in 2017 may have shown him being a pretty down to earth guy, but the type of man he actually is behind the scenes from what I have heard and seen would say otherwise.

Anyone have Joel's exact quote? If he really specified out-of-print rather than "never before released" it would seemingly rule out ROCKETSHIP X-M. Still would be exciting though. THE FINAL SACRIFICE and SOULTAKER desperately need to be back in circulation.
If they did indeed get two episodes cleared for the first time and one of them is ROCKETSHIP X-M, I wonder what the other could be?

The "out of circulation" eps on Turkey Day are just Viking Women and Stranded in Space. Both have been part of Gizmoplex/VHX since the beginning, but weren't on all of the FAST channels until a few months ago. (Which leaves Alien from LA and It Lives By Night as the only two remaining to be "released" from Gizmoplex exclusivity, but I double checked, and neither of them are on this year's TD lineup) |
