Well this thread did one thing - I don't know how famous it is, but if your a Christopher Guest fan and haven't seen "Best In Show", one has to ask themselves. "WHY?" So I finally watched it and it was hysterical. A Mighty Wind is still my favorite, but this was great too. I'd like to thank the author of this thread for reminding me get off my ass and get this disc for Pete's sake! MJ, have you seen "Waiting for Guffman"? It's my favorite of the Guest trilogy. Mainly because the other two underuse the genius of Fred Willard.

He nailed it dead on, plus it had some nice sweet character development (Eugene Levy was wonderful) I like Willard and thought he was the funniest thing in Best in Show, but I've never been a huge fan of the man (Hence, Genius? I dunno if I'd go that far)

I am the opposite of a lot of people.
Mafia films: no interest. Seen Goodfellas and was bored to TEARS!!!!!
Anything Kubrick: I am going to get flamed for this, but his movies do not interest me in the least. The first half of Full Metal Jacket was cool for one reason only - R. Lee Ermey. After that it was boring.
And old films bore me. I am a heathen, I know, but I have never seen Casablanca, Gone With The Wind, Miracle on 34th Street, etc. Just not interested.
Have not fully seen any Christopher Guest movies. Seen bits of Spinal Tap and Mighty Wind, just did not sit down to watch the whole movies.

YOU SHUT UP SLAPPY, YOU SHUT UP!!
In my defense, my wonderful family is all from PA. I have always formed a great dislike for stuff that is pushed down my throat as something that I "should" like. Eagles, Steelers, Kubrick, Flyers, etc. But boring is boring. Mafiaand Kubrick movies are boring to me. The only "mafia" movie that I like is The Untouchables. But that is not normally considered a mafia movie anyway. And the Guest movies, of what I've see I have found entertaining, but just have not stopped to watch them fully.

You sound exactly like one of my friends. He doesn't like ANYTHING that gets overhyped. I don't know about you, but this guy will intentionally ignore bands, albums, movies, etc., etc. that get a lot of praise. I judge stuff like that myself. I don't care if it's extremely popular, or no one knows about it. If I like it, I like it, period.

I like stuff that I like, and that is how it is. Just stuff that is pushed at me, has to be REALLY good. I will give them a chance though, not completely disregard them like your friend.

I looked at the top 250 movies on rotten tomatoes, ranked by regular people (not critics) and I had seen maybe less than half of them.

Actually I am quite right. Yes, yes, I know, Kubrick is a film god, blah, blah, blah. Kubrick and mafia movies are boring. That is my opinion. You think they are the bee's knees, well that is your opinion. And as everybody knows, opinions are like a-holes, eveyone has them and they all stink.

to steal someone elses idea I'll pick some off of the imdb top 250
Casablanca: never had any desire to see it, probably wont change in the future
Schindlers List : I love historical movies but just couldnt bring myself to watching this one, probably wont any time soon
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's nest: I plan on seeing it, somehow I have not caught it over the years
The Usual Suspects: Looks like something I'd like and has some actors that I like in it, so I might see it one of these days
Citizen Kane: it never intrested me for whatever reason, I might see it, I might not
Eternal Sunshine: Just looked too weird to me, and Jim Carrey is real hit and misss for me
Reservoir Dogs: Ive seen pretty much all other Tarantino films, it just seemed like the fanboys of it turned me off so Ive never seen it
Titanic: no desire to ever see it
The Deer Hunter: another one thats hard to explain how I missed it, it sounds like something I'd like and it was filmed in some areas fairly close to my hometown so I usually like to watch local type stuff but I havent seen it yet, Its on my long list of stuff to see

I know. But as my brother, LetGoOfItSlappy, can attest, I have a tendency to say what I feel. No matter who gets offended.

I new a guy who refused to read Harry Potter because it was too popular.
Then he read the first book, and yelled at himself for not doing it sooner, because he felt he had to buy all five of them at once.
What a strange, crazy, fiscally-offkilter fellow he was.
Speaking of Mafia movies: anyone like The Lemondrop Kid? It's a Christmas mafia movie! Starring Bob Hope! I love it. It's set in the same mafia Universe as the one seen in Guys and Dolls (both written by the same guy.)
