I think that the formula for success here would be as follows:
-At least 1 Joel episode, and at least 1 Mike episode -At least 1 Clayton episode, and at least 1 Pearl episode -Special Features!
As long as it's like that, the sales shouldn't be too bad. And as for the Predictable Releases so far, like Gunslinger, the two other BBI Sci-Fi eps, and perhaps Shorts Vol. 3, I'd be perfectly happy with that because I've yet to see Gunslinger.

Yeah, that would really be a good idea. And about Gunslinger, I don't know what others think, but, I bought it from somewhere, I can't remember, on VHS, and, to be honest, it's really not one of the better episodes. Well, that's just my opinion. Whatever they release I'll buy, just to support, Servo

Still, the Scifi eps are, IMO, the most accessible, since the jokes seem IMO to be easier to understand (as in less super-obscure references). . You really think so?? Its all the same writers. I think the mix of pop culture, esoteric, high brow and sophomoric have always been balanced. IMHO

IMHO I dunno, maybe i'm just not as in-tune with popular culture as most of the fans. Or, maybe it's Forrest's hypothesis. At any rate, the SciFi eps (as well as some of season 6 and all of season 7) seem to make me laugh more, because I can understand most of the jokes. I rememer reading one of Don's reviews of a Season 9 ep, and he said that it was "evident of the show's decline in writing" or something to that effect. That might also hold true, since the riffs in season 10 didn't seem to hit as hard as, say, 7 or 8. Maybe to him the "decline" was in fact a writers-block to the Brains, in which they ran out of obscure references, or something to that effect.

Actually, I found some of season 10 HYSTERICAL. But to be totally totally honest, I see very little difference in quality in any season past 1. It is all funny. There are some eps that are not quite up to par to others...but there is no UNFUNNY ep.

Actually, I found some of season 10 HYSTERICAL. But to be totally totally honest, I see very little difference in quality in any season past 1. It is all funny. There are some eps that are not quite up to par to others...but there is no UNFUNNY ep. Very true. There are a couple good season 10 eps (Future War and Soultaker come to mind), but all of them had this feeling to them...like they just weren't as funny. Of course, ALL of the MST3K eps are funny. That is the power of the show. The material changes for every episode, since the movie is completely different. I mean, one week it's a 50's japanese superhero movie, next it's a late-80's space action flick, next it's a lame 60's spy thriller. So much to work with, so much to rip on. Such a good show. I honestly believe there is no show that can ever be as funny as this one. Sure, The Simpsons is great, same with South Park (I saw "Faith+1" last week; offensively good stuff) and even Married: With Children (best sitcom IMO), but they just don't pack the 700-joke cluster bomb that each and every mst3k episode has. No other show can make a joke ranging from George Hamilton to a Poopie Suit within 30 seconds. Some shows attempt it in their own ways (Red Dwarf does this kinda), but no one is as sharp and intelligent as MST3K and Best Brains.

Not surprising, but still disappointing. Merlin's Shop? Touch of Satan? Hmmm....
Alas for the superior season 4 episodes!!

I'm glad about the selection, for personal reasons. I've heard great things about the host segments in Time Chasers. Mighty Jack gives Touch of Satan an A+. I only have the first half hour of Merlin's Shop of Mystical Wonder's and have not seen the rest. I've heard good things about Boggy Creek.
Also some more good news Satallite News has sent Rhino a list of episodes that were the fan favorites for releasing onto DVD. 'Santa Claus Conquers the Martians' is number 2 (between Manos and Mitchell) and if they look into the rights will see that it is a public domain title. The same goes for number 4 The Crawling Eye.

So that's the lineup. Well that is kind of dissapointing but Merlin is one of my all time favorite episodes so I might look into it just for that. Hopefully we'll get some real gems once the 6th boxset comes out(Or maybe the 11th who knows)

I do agree with Sampo though, when the hell are they going to release some of the Season 4 classics? Even though I have all of Season 4 already, still, some of these should have been released WAAAYYYY before, let's say, Hamlet or Gunslinger. Servo

I'm Disappointed that we don't have a Joel episode in the bunch. BUT. I do love all of these episode. I seem to enjoy "Touch Of Satan" more than most people do. But I feel it's a very well written piece of comedy, very clever, nice observational quips.
Hey, I like a good fart joke like anybody (Crow does a nice one in "Werewolf"), but lets be honest, they are easy. I just feel TOS earns points for all the "smart" riffs. But, yeah, many people disagree with me and would not give a coveted A+ to it.
Great collected of shows that I will buy. But I wish it wasn't all stuff I have on tape allready.

I don't care for Merlin taht much, I like the rest but I'm still disapointed. It could have been more imaginative. Most were already BBI tapes.

I don't know why they keep doing this to me...pairing two eps I really like (Boggy Creek and Satan this time) with two I could live without (the other two)...ach, yo.
