I wish both albums could be back to back on the same CD, they're both so great. Antics took me a little while to get into. Narc grabbed me first, then Public Perv, the last bit was great, and then the last song, I forget the name. That whole album is listenable but those three are my favorites. TOTBL is better. "Slow Hands" is easily my favorite song on Antics, with "Evil" 2nd. But I'm really getting into the rest of the album... well, except for the 1st song which I still find kinda weak. I do think Turn On the Bright Light is a better album, without a weak song on it. I tried to burn both albums onto one disc for my car, but together they are too long to fit onto one disc. (But I was able to do that with the 2 The Strokes albums and include the song "NY Cops" on the disc too - now that disc is perfect for playing in the car.)

Just an aside: Earller I wrote about visiting my Seattle roots and listenig to "The Gits"
Well My wife and I caught the tail end of "48 Hours" Mystery" on TV tonight, and it was about the lead singer of the Gits, Mia Zapata, who was murdered just as the bands star was rising.
It has long been a cold case, but because of advances in DNA they were able to find the sick bastard who killed her and put him away.
I don't know if anyone knew of this story or cared, but it sent shockwaves through the Pacific Northwest music community (I played in a band called "Bethany's Sin" back then. Yeah I know, you never heard of 'em. lol)
I was glad to see this sad story finally find an end.
RIP Mia

"Leaving New York" by REM. Heard it on Virgin Radio One UK.
Not a big fan of the band, but a good song.

7 albums straight of Miles Davis while I watched my kid play. It was awesome. My sister's boyfriend was looking to add some jazz albums to his MP3, so he asked if he could borrow some of mine. Among the 5 albums I gave him are Kind Of Blue, because he's a beginner and you just can't go wrong with that album, and In A Silent Way because I knew he'd like the mood and it's a good segue for rock fans to get into jazz.

Although I've got all their albums - and some unreleased stuff - I put on A Decade of Steely Dan. The reason is that the song FM is only on the greatest hits album and I really wanted to hear that song. The album itself is wisely chosen, with pretty much everything you'd want if you were a casual fan. There's a 3 song stretch with Peg, Riki Don't Lose That Number and Reelin' In The Years. Now that's some sweetness.

Johnny Cash American IV: The Man Comes Around.
I put off buying this until the right moment. This has got to be my album right now. Almost every song is a dark gem in a ever darkening night. Of course, Hurt tears me apart and the lovely cover of Bridge Over Trouble Water, but the one I would never have thought to be a favorite, that I think is incredibly beautiful and moving, and just made into one of the best songs ever by Cash is First Time Ever I Saw Your Face. Great stuff.

Best of Erotic Moods by NuSound (2002) I know. Weird. But it's just marketed as sexual since that's what sells. To me it's more of a chilled out progressive jazz with a hint of electronica. Very calming & helps keep the anxietiy low.

You're wierd? I currently am listening to bagpipe 'fusion' music. I was listening to this Australian group whos tracks consist of bagpipes, digereedoos, drums, irish whistle and triangle. It's actually pretty good if you like the pipes. If not, well, it sucks. There is a lot of music that can be done with bagpipes besides playing in a military band.

...the best band you've probably never heard of.
Dada
They're a 3 piece blues-rock band that had a minor hit in the early 90s (Diz Knee Land). Their albums are phenomenal. Far and away my favorite kind of music to listen to. Beatle-influenced songwriting, great singable choruses, lots of vocal harmonies, and one of the best clean-Fender, blues-playing guitarists alive.
I was just listening to their most recent album, "How To Be Found", and it's great. They've also just re-released a couple of their earlier albums that have been out of print (stupid IRS Records...). I HIGHLY recommend them. (Especially to MightyJack- I think you'd really enjoy them.)

Captain Beefheart's Trout Mask Replica Old School Weirdness baby festin bubos, festin buuboos bubos also tapered... A horrible, horrible album that I feel bad at saying Frank Zappa is associated with. Speaking of Zappa, I just got done listening to Just Another Band From LA. Classic. Servo
