A horrible, horrible album that I feel bad at saying Frank Zappa is associated with. That seems to be the general thought of the average person or zappa fan (I like his early albums). There seems to be your rock/zappa fans who usually HATE that album and then there are the experimental rock/ beefheart fans (I have to say there aren't alot of us) who just don't give a poopie and like the abstract music and lyrics. You could say the same about why people like joel more than mike. Joel had the laid back more esoteric riffs, while mike just cut everything with sarcasim and wit. Sorry you HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE, Hate that album.

I dusted off some old Smashing Pumpkins last night and listenened to part of Mellon Collis & The Infinite Sadness on the way to work. I forgot how much I liked some of that stuff. Took me back a few years though, now I feel old

Just listened to Pavement's Crooked Rain Crooked Rain to prepare for my purchase of the reissue with all the extras. Best album they ever made.

My wife bought the new Kelly Clarkson CD and I was ready to dismiss it outright, but it's not bad at all, the first half at least. I get pretty tired of it by the end. But I love her voice, it's strong but there's also this rough edge to it, nice quality. But if she comes home with a Clay Akin CD? Nu-Uh, that's where I draw the line!

I'm listening to "Stomp 4-4-2" by Anthrax, and Dimebag played on several songs. Made me sniffle a bit.

Just for a mood switch, I went for the Bloodhound Gang. I forgot how funny they could be. MST fans too, by the way.

I've been listening to several albums recently: Green Day - American IdiotAn absolutely amazing album. Great lyrics, great melodies...pretty much great everything. I really can't say much about it, just check it out for yourself. Incubus - S.C.I.E.N.C.EVery cool older album from one of my favorite groups. It feels like mainly a concept album, with lots of different styles used in the 12 tracks. Some of the songs have a very jazzy feel (especially "Summer Romance"), and others are extremely heavy rock ("Calgone", "Redefine"). All of the songs have a DJ (I can't remember his name) mixing in some very cool electronic sounds and effects, which add another layer of complexity. The thing I like most about this album is the sound quality. It's amazing! The highs coming out of my recently-purchased Infinity SM152's tickle my eardrums! For those of you who haven't seen the 152's, check them out! (Ignore the nasty walls, the dorms on base are old and decrepit):

Heh, no. My "manipulation, turn around and look at that instead of this" jokes don't come as well in text.

***B U M P***
EXTOL - UNDECEIVED
Amazing! For those of you who are into thrash metal/borderline "death" metal, but are also Christian, this band is for you! The writing is very technical, the lyrics are inspiring, and wow can the vocalist sing! The only low point is that he doesn't sing enough...most of the vocals are a throaty growl/scream. While this is just fine for this type of music, hearing his voice change from a roar into a Brandon Boyd (of Incubus)-style sing is quite dramatic. It kinda makes you want to hear him sing some more!
At any rate, the lyrics are 100% Christian. Here is a sample from the song "A Structure of Souls":
A Structure of Souls Bounded by one Spirit A union of hearts Saved by the same Spirit
We are the members of The body of the Son We are the Church of Christ
Freedom is to be our destiny Due to the eternal grace That comes from the Author of Life The one and only God
Best Songs: Inferno, Time Stands Still, A Structure of Souls, Renewal.
RATING: 5/5

I'm listening to a cd I got along with my BHG t-shirt, called JagerMusic-Rarities. It's got a bunch of live, demo, and remix tracks of a ton of killer bands that JagerMeister has sponsored. It includes Slayer, Drowning Pool, Breaking Benjamin, Killswitch Engage, Spineshank, Wolfpac, etc. It's crammed with great tracks. And I got it for free!
Yippee!!
