In the Heat of the Night
First viewing. Great. Timeless (in an unfortunate way. There will always be small minded bigots). I bet that in 1967 there had not been a movie that looked quite like this. Simply Fantastic.

Night Watch (Ночной дозор, Nochnoi dozor)Russian box office record-setter featuring shape-shifters, vampires, people with special powers and an epic battle between good and evil. This was a little hard to follow, but not too bad at all. I was watching the dubbed English version, and I suspect I would have liked the subtitles better. Reading subtitles really doesn't bother me at all, and I like hearing the original acting performance even if I don't know the language. Again, the details of the whole "what exactly are these people/things" was left up in the air, but the movie is pretty cool to look at. Especially for a budget of under $5 million. The way they do the subtitles for night watch really works. They are animated and I have never seen subtitles like them before. Hard to describe. Much more than just words on the bottom of the screen. Highly recommend re-watching it with them.

The first two seasons of The Mighty Boosh.
I like it, but I don't know why?
Guess I will have to watch it again.

There a several cable channels that regularly show feature length movies in primetime.
Channels could use the SAP feature to show a movie with the rifftrax version on the secondary track and the regular audio on the main one.
How about HBO or Showtime showing it like a comedy special every couple of months or so.
I think they would have a better chance being treated as a "movie of the week" like columbo was, as opposed to a weekly tv show right now.

FOTC is one of the best shows on now. It is a hard show to describe. It is subtle, yet over the top. Very original. Easily one of my favorites.

Damn, the first thing that popped into my head was;
MST3K.........With Zombies!
Then about four seconds later I realized that ICWXP had already done that.

I imagine that if they did a live DVD that it would just be the audio from the live show simply mixed with the movie. Kind of rifftrax\film crew style.

Looks like this was not a rumor after reading Joel's new blog entry.
"Because of this that we’ve decided not to record our last three live features (East Mmeets Watts, Danger on Tiki Island, and Alien Factor) in the studio, as I previously announced"
Bummer!

I think that there is something that I don't understand. Local stations would show crappy old movies because they were one of the cheapest things that were available to put on the air. That was really one of the reasons that MST3K ever got made in the first place. It was cheap. KTMA already had the rights to show those movies. Joel just took the wacky local creature feature host so many of us grew up with and evolved that into MST3K. The major change was the hosts were watching the movie with you, and it was a brilliant idea. But if it was not cheap it would have never had a chance. I personally always enjoyed the "low budget" feel that MST3k had. If anything I would think that CT is cheaper to produce technically than MST3K was. There essentially are no host segments that are not green screen. Do the movie studios now think that these movies they have sitting around are suddenly worth a fortune. I don't know. I think the worst thing that has killed small, low budget shows has been the infomercial. Stations just let there programming belong to companies that mostly try to rip off their viewers.

Converting PAL to NTSC can be tricky. The frame rates are different. There is no simple way that works well for everything. Go to the Doom9 forum and do a search there. forum.doom9.org/Will your DVD player play the PAL disc?

You are already a fan of Rowan Atkinson from Mr. Bean, so you absolutely must watch Blackadder.
Many consider Fawlty Towers to be the best sit-com ever made.
Growing up I stayed up every night to watch the Benny Hill Show. Have not seen it in 20 years so I am not sure how it holds up.
And who can forget Monty Pythons Flying Circus
I am sure I will think of many more the second I hit the post reply button.
With the wonder of the interwebs I have discovered many wonderful shows from other countries. Australia and Canada have some real gems along with the UK.

I tend to agree with torgospizza that it is the characters of the bots, and the liberties that were allowed to be taken by the performers playing them because they were fictitious characters, that are missed.
I do like the silhouettes, but if I could choose between them or host segments. Host segments would be it. If MST3K did not have host segments to develop the characters it would have been a very different show. There would be no Dr. Forrester, no TV's Frank, no Gypsy, no Pearl, no Observer or Bobo. I feel those segments truly helped make the show more endearing and allowed the characters to become beloved.

Arrested Development has always been loved or hated. It is one of my favorites. Lines from that show just seem to pop into my head on a daily basis.
"You have to get rid of the seaward"
"I'll leave when I'm good and ready"
