Ultimately though, it’s not our choice as to if the show ends now. While it might be wise to let go, Joel is clearly still looking for a means to bring it back (whether or not he succeeds is another question). I don't know if this is true the way Joel phoned in the crowdfunder. It could be more that Matt and some of the others at alterversal or whatever want to keep it going more than Joel.

Why replace the tunnel sequence though? Literally that just spent more money to remake it, but looking worse. You must have missed the 5 dozen post argument in the other thread. They weren't allowed to use the Season 11/12 hallway sequence because netflix owns it and wouldn't let them use it.

"Off the deepend" doesn't even begin. Cameron LITERALLY put his seal of approval on Terminator: Dark Fate. There is being complacent from success, and there are just downright delusions! I dunno. I thought Dark Fate was just fine. It definitely had that modern girl-power feel to it, but then, this is in the Terminator universe where girl-power has always been a major theme. I would say that Cameron pulls off strong woman better than most anyone. This new one was not by him, but I can see how he green-lit it. I thought the action was mostly well done too.

I wouldn't say it's irrelevant. They may not have expected it to do that well, but those are numbers that if it had hit, it would probably still be on there...maybe--Joel's money mismanagement might have trumped other factors.
To make the numbers more relevant, we would probably need to see budgets, and we don't really know any of those budgets, even MST3K, because we don't know how much extra money Netflix actually put into MST3K after picking it up, we're just pretty sure it's more than zero.

The details seem to be all confirmed as real. My only BS detector is that looking at the picture, you don't have to 'recreate' the scene, you can just photoshop it. The picture itself looks legit, but all you would have to do is pick one of the labels and photoshop just the name of the ep. And, I notice it is the only KTMA ep listed. All the rest say Episode #___ and it says KTMA #3. Also, it is a rather big coincidence that among the 16 labels shown, that one just happens to be the lost holy grail. And it's the only KTMA shown.
If it is a photoshop, they matched the font exactly even down to the fuzzy "s used to surround the episode title, though, as another coincidence, the words STAR FORCE already appear elsewhere as ep #316 happens to being shown too and could be cut and pasted. Speaking of, it is also overly coincidental that another of the 16 labels shows is the OTHER Star Force ep, quietly letting any informed fan know that the KTMA one is "probably not mislabeled" since there's the season 3 one right there.
I did a google image search on the image and nothing came up, so it's not just a common pic that's floating around.

I think an as big question is what do you do with the new NuMST3K fanboysngirls if you're retooling to try and get back the lost fans. I'm suprised/not-surprised by the number of people who have magically become emily and crew super-fans after like 5 eps and would throw a fit if they ditched them.
I think Joel has really dug a hole he can't get out of here. I think the show might just have to end again, at least for a few years.

Numbers, yay!
Good analysis monkeypretzel.
#1 is 812M. It looks like they don't go below 100K or .1M.
Season 11 at 1.2M = %0.14 of #1 spot. Season 12 at .6M = %0.07 of #1 spot.
But wow that number spread is totally not linear --
Average = 5.1M Median = 0.7M Std Dev = 18.7M (!)
So, those numbers are almost pointless. Too much noise, in this case just too many shows just hanging around. So let's trim a bunch--
Top 100 shows: 95M to 812M, average: 183M. So to be a top 100 show, you really want at least 100M to 200M views. Top 1000 shows: 21M to 812M, average: 53M. To be in the top 1000 show, you really want at least 20M to 50M views.
So back to MST3K numbers-- 1.2M is 5% of the bare minimum you want to even be in the top 1000. Or in other words. Essentially zero.
But, the real question is after all that analysis of how bad 600K to 1.2M is, I would be interested to see how that compares to Season 13 Gizmoplex numbers...

For the classic eps, I think they were always to be streamed free to members, but starting in 2023, they would have ads in them, which I thought was another crap move by them--aren't there multiple places to watch the shows now for free but with ads without any membership?
I thought I heard someone say they still don't have ads, I don't know I'm not a member, but if true, my guess is that it takes some actual IT work to switch around anything and they don't have any employees. I'm surprised the site is up at all. It might not be whenever the next year of service is up, maybe January, maybe February?

The problem is they didn't let them write on all the episodes or puppeeter. So they were hampered in that way and were unable to get their own flavor and chemistry consistently in the riff writing. When Joel did casting we for the bots professional pupeeteers first and comedic ability second.. and the results speak for themselves with Emily's crew. Good point. I mostly agree with you on Hampton, don't really agree with you on Baron, but the point remains. It's a symptom of how the show is run now, and until they fix that, they will never have another golden era.

So I read this years ago. Probably one of the best MST3K bios. www.wired.com/2014/04/mst3k-oral-history/I saw a link to it recently, I think by monkeypretzel somewhere and I was giving it a reread, and I saw this-- Right, one of the things NuMST3K is missing, straight from Joel. Sometimes I think Joel really did forget what made MST3K special, or just got old and convinced himself differently. I know they replaced Tom, but Kevin was still doing Josh's Tom, but in his own way. Bill too, replaced Trace, but was still 'doing' Crow in his own way. They should have actually auditioned and cast Tom and Crow replacement comedians, or brought in two new robots.

Oh i see. I was just going by the 8% actually listed on the KS pages, but that makes sense to include all fees. Maybe they are included on the new crowdfundr too, and they're only taking 2% on top of the 3% CC fees?

Consider also the complete lack of production values too, compared to how slickly the other two were made, what happened there? Was Ivan truly the dude who knew how to do production design? Another personal theory of mine-- People don't realize how much of season 11 was because of netflix. I think joel blew through pretty much all the ks1 money in pre-production and was essentially bailed out by netflix. I think almost all of what was actually put on film and edited together and packaged into a real looking show was with the help of the pros at netflix. A fact backing this up is how they couldn't reuse the doorway sequence of season 11/12. People kept talking about IP, but I think the bottom line is that it was because the actual produced footage was completely owned by netflix because they paid to make it and likely even produced it themselves.
