Was reading around some other post-campaign threads on 'the net'. Here's an interesting quote that puts it a way I haven't heard before--

You guys bring up were the money is coming from, but equally important is where the money goes. More than just a partner that has money, someone needs to be at the top approving financing. As far as we know, the show could easily produce a trimmed down 12 ep season with only $2.5M, or even less, if an able person was in charge of budgeting, planning and expenditures.

There is one sure thing here and one guesswork thing.
First, the sure thing-- the results of this campaign were not a fluke. With no new fans and no new info for waning fans, NuMST3K can't bring in enough money to run on donations. So, just starting another campaign in a month, 6 months, or a year will not make any more money. I bet it will make less because there will be even more attrition of fans, some from a bad taste from this failed campaign and further fandom fracture, and some just from another year of no-new-content drifting.
Then, the other option, where the guesswork happens-- they have a new campaign that ISN'T like the one that just ended--it has cast members and stars and promotion and energy, no strikes, better platform (i.e. kickstarter), woo hoo!!
And here's were my guesswork comes in -- I don't think any of that is there, just waiting in the wings. I think it's an excuse and an obfuscation that it was just those damn strikes and bad timing that blew this whole campaign. I think the NuMST3K offices are empty. Jonah, Patton, Emily, they haven't been paid or communicated with in many months, going on a year. There is no money to do anything. And here's the kicker -- Joel isn't having fun anymore and has no heart in it anymore and so there is no pro-quality huckster to get everyone riled up and locked in.
As that's a guess, here's the alternative. I guess it's possible that none of the 'names' were involved this time solely because of hollywood politics, and once things get signed and negotiated again, and they admit their mistake with showrunner and go back to kickstarter, then the next try will reclaim the MST3K crowdfunding glory.
...But, I don't think so. The actors strike ended half way through the campaign. No one needed a signed contract to go on to their social media and instead of just posting a link to a failing campaign, actually talk it up, talk about how excited they would be to come back, etc. And seriously, how hard is it to zoom-call in to a watchalong. But no one did. That's the proof right there to me that none of these actors are currently involved in any way and their little posts were just a courtesy to Joel and MST3K cuz they're not jerks and still like it even though probably not involved anymore*.
(*and maybe not happy either about how parts of season 13 shook out, which is actually an interesting topic that could be discussed more.)

SST is probably not public domain. It's a TV Movie and very likely just still owned by the channel.
I like the Creeping Terror ep. Fill in my standard don't like re-riffs comment here.

No, I pretty much agree with monkeypretzel. Joel is a Master of spinning what he wants into what everyone wants/needs. He's done it every kickstarter. Another example-- HE'S the one that blew through KS1 money and needed more and I'm sure HE'S the one that picked Netflix. Fast forward to KS2 where we can all pitch in to get away from those evil Netflix bozos that would have had nothing to do with the input of previous seasons if Joel would have just made the show on the pretty darn big budget he had gotten and just shopped the finished product around.

Well pictures don't lie, OR DO THEY! There are two names in the credits, but again, i dunno, is there an emily section in munchie? maybe they just put both names into one credit?

Oh I don't know, demon squad is a joel ep, so I looked at munchie too. it's all very confusing. I think some of the puppeteering was done by the live crew, but not all, but then Vaughn and Yount are in the puppeteering section too, with another name. So, uh they did the lip moving? I dunno. still seems like a mess of a production.
EDIT: yeah, what DK said.

I just pulled up mac and me and skipped to credits -- still 3 names under each bot as puppeteers. had to find an ep of 13 that was real with credits, found demon squad -- still a puppeteer, but only one name not 3.

They brought up how moving production could save costs. There was nothing else they could do? I would like to see how much more the theater segments with prerecorded riffs and puppeteers cost compared to simply having the cast do it live like they used too. Yeah, right. People often bring up 'go back to like KTMA did it'. But you don't have to go NEAR that far to just say, we got one warehouse location that has a writing room, a props room, a few sets, maybe a nice breakroom, some prop creation and storage areas, and we all come to work there for a few weeks per set of eps. Really simple stuff that small shows have been doing for ever.

OMG, you can do that on this forum? I didn't know. [went and figured out how*] Cool. Much happier now.

Oh he's definitely doing that. If you get bored of the video skip down to the comments. That's where the real interesting stuff is. Broader publics thoughts on the 3 NuMST3K seasons a whole year before this new s14 crowdfunder blew up the fandom.

the problem is that we're not arguing, people are bringing up points and kracker immediately starts arguing with them.

You should watch more then. That isn't his conclusion at all. His main conclusion is that the new team is just not as good at writing or delivering jokes, including the whole too many cooks in the kitchen thing with the 17 writers for season 11 and 10 writes for season 12. Like I said, in the end he even says he likes 13 better than 11/12.
He does mention the midwesterner mentality verses LA joke writers. But I'm not sure he means woke, he just means the feel of the jokes. And, I would tend to agree with him even though I don't mind a coachella joke in there along with a karaoke joke.

Oh and, what a dumb argument, mainly because one poster is an @ss. My guess is that the majority of non-return pledges were because of dissatisfaction with Season 13 and lack of information about 14, but I also guarantee that there was a real impacting amount of non-return pledges because people just got d|cked around for essentially a whole year for merch they paid for, and it just got wrapped up like last month. Reading threads here and there, I think there are still some stragglers waiting on undelivered merch.
To add my own position, it's a main reason why I didn't even back the KS2 season 13 drive. I paid like $50 or something for a super-awesome secret bonus swag -- and it came a year or more later, and it was a $19.99 funko pop. ..but wait, I declined that because funko pops are dumb, and instead got a 'poster' --it was legal paper size-- of jonah and crow is some weirdass pose, and it came crinkled up! I posted pics of it somewhere. AND THEN, people on the forums tried to give me crap like, "it was just a for funsy reward". No it wasn't, I paid $50 for it, it's actual merch that I paid real money for, assuming that they would make some profit from it for the show, but that it would be worth somewhere in the amount I paid. Ivan eventaully got me the funko pop. which I could care less about, but I paid $50 for it so I made sure I got it.
...flash forward to 3 years later and I saw that snow globe and I just laughed.

Didn't read just skimmed, but did I get that right that people got retroactively charged for their 3D glasses? Like they were holding the rest of your merch hostage until you paid extra shipping for something that had already shipped?
Man am I glad I didn't support that.
