I got into MST3K when Comedy Central got added to our region's cable package. It was either during or right after the 6th season - I remember that the 7th season was the first full season I watched "live" as they were first broadcast. Otherwise I was just watching the various reruns across the eras.

Part of me was hoping they'd do individual slim cases with art for each DVD like they do with the MST3K sets, but the other part of me who is completely out of shelf space is happy it's just a single DVD case.

I feel like if it doesn't get renewed at Netflix, it's not going to picked up by another streaming outlet (and probably would be dead altogether). I think it would just be considered a "failed experiment" at that point, and I don't think anyone else is going to want it.
I feel bad for Joel for the timing on everything - they signed on to Netflix while they were still in their "Everything gets a 2nd season!" phase and it seemed like a no-brainer, but it's facing renewal right at the time when Netflix is getting a lot more cautious about renewals and is starting to cancel a lot more.
I'm not ready to call it dead yet, but the waiting to hear one way or another is excruciating.

There was a time when the DVD market was huge and everything was seemingly getting a decent release, even smaller catalog titles. Hart and Williams could have cleaned up, but they waited...and waited...and waited for a bigger payday. And now, the physical media bubble has burst, and now we're down to only niche companies like Shout willing to put out smaller/lesser remembered films and not having as much money to do so. They missed their window.

Same MSRP as the other sets for one less episode? That's disappointing.

Middle of the pack as far as their Live shows quality-wise. Not a laugh riot, but not bad. I love the movie itself without the riffing, so it's always watchable, even when the riffing isn't top notch. I haven't seen the previous Rifftrax releases, so I don't know how it compares to those.

So no renewal announcement and no info about another DVD volume ? Disappointing Comic Con for MST3K fans.

I thought the panel itself was the 22nd. I think tonight's just a live show.
Edit: Oh, you were talking about Shout's panel. Never mind.

Now that it's been released on their site I finally got to see it. Loved it! Up there with my favorite live shows.

...and now Amazon's price is $25.95. Rapidly approaching less than $2 an episode/movie.

Didn't he have a girlfriend? Wasn't he saying to that woman at work, "I'll see you at home"? Then he starts hitting on every other woman, and brings that daughter of the restaurant owner or whoever she was back to his swinging gramma bachelor pad. I think the implication was they were sleeping together on the side. They also made her out to be either a slut or someone who jokingly flaunts it later on when they're doing that raid later on, she turns to that other cop, and asks him "wanna f***?" Rifftrax cut out 2 or 3 gratuitous softcore sex scenes from the original movie, one of which is between the lead and the helicopter cop right at the beginning of the movie after the opening action scene, which sorta fills in a plot hole of the way she was acting towards him.

Great to hear the positive reviews! This was one of my favorite recent bad movies even pre-Rifftrax.
Anyone here who has seen the VOD as well and has thoughts on how they compare? I'm assuming that like most 2nd passes the Live version is superior. How much difference is there between the two in terms of riffs?
