Frankly, what they choose to edit vs. not is really bizarre and inconsistent. Sometimes they'll leave in random topless shots like Future Zone, sometimes they'll cut them like with Miami Connection. One of the two Lash LaRue movies they did had a topless woman that was visible on the VOD, but it was part of a longer scene of her being topless even more that was cut down. Was it a length of time on screen issue, or...?
As far as I know, they've never cut anything for violence.

Rifftrax does edit their VODs, a lot of times for sex and nudity that can be cut out with affecting the plot and/or good riffing opportunities.
Samurai Cop has at least 2 lengthy soft core sex scenes they cut out of the VOD (I'm assuming the live version will be the same). There was another scene with female nudity that was left in since they couldn't cut it without leaving a plot hole (as much as it matters in a movie like Samurai Cop). Miami Connection had some shots of bikers flashing/mooning the camera during a montage that were cut. Other movies have the same kind of cuts.
Rifftrax has always been a bit inconsistent of what they edit, whether or not they censor when The riffers swear, etc.

Oh, right. It's been so long since I started Netflix I forgot what plugin it required. If Silverlight is an across the board requirement, you're probably going need to have password access to your Mac to get it installed.

Nope. On desktops/laptops, Netflix runs through your web browser.

Try playing on another machine or a PC first, just to make sure the disc is at fault. Defective discs do escape into the wild once in a while. Yeah, this is a good suggestion. I once thought I was having issues with bad DVDs that turned out was actually due to a DVD drive slowly going south.

Yeah, no problems here either. I'm guessing it's just something bad with your specific DVD, rather than a widespread problem.
I've never returned anything to Shout for defective merchandise, but I did an exchange for their Army of Darkness Blu-Ray set due to an issue with two of the versions missing brief scenes that they had an exchange program for, and that was painless and quick. They should have a link on their website for returns.

I'm guessing that there's a few movies in there that are in the 70-80 (possibly down to 60) minute range that are pulling the average down. Since they're no longer being held to an exact runtime like they were on cable, they're no longer required to stretch host segments out in order to fill time for a shorter movie (for example, The Undead).

I'm wouldn't be surprised at all if the next Volume (or the Volume after next) is the first 4 episodes of the new season.

Has anyone checked out Retro Puppet Master? I've been curious about the movie since reading Greg Sestero's "The Disaster Artist", and was wondering how good the riffs is (and if it's worth a St. Patrick's Day Sale purchase).

I really don't understand refiffing What the heck? I don't know how this broken misspelled sentence fragment got posted with no other content. Whoops. I meant to write that I don't understand why they re-riff SciFi-era episodes. I get re-riffing Joel episodes, or even CC-era Mike to an extent, since the style differs enough to give a different experience, but there's not enough variance when the same 3 guys do the re-riffs. It ends up not differentiating itself enough and/or struggling to come up with different riffs to not repeat themselves (which is what I thought the problem with Time Chasers was).

Much like with Samurai Cop, an early AMC listing looks like it may have revealed what the "Mystery Title" will be. If you want to know (just in case anyone doesn't want to be spoiled, I won't directly link it), just go to www.amctheatres.com and search Rifftrax and the listing comes up.

I only watched Track of the Moon Beast. It looked good, but...I fell asleep during the middle section of it, so I might not be the best person to ask...

Mike, By Joel is pretty neat - as most expected, it's basically a history told by Joel of how/why Mike initially joined the show, him becoming more and more an onscreen performer, and him eventually taking over the show. Interesting tidbits I had never heard (or maybe I heard at one point but later forgot...):
- one of the ideas pitched by Joel when he was leaving was for Bridget to take over as host, not necessarily as a completely new character, but Joel getting hit by some sort of ray that turned him into a woman.
- Joel sees the evolution of the relationship between the bots and the human moving from the more parent/child relationship with Joel to the less respectful, more mocking relationship with Mike as being born out of the fact that Trace and Kevin were part of the original producers/shareholders of the show from the KTMA days, and sort of needling Mike good-naturedly(?) about him coming into the show after the fact.
Also, watched the interview with the Track of the Moon Beast actress. Seems like a pretty nice person, and she provided some good info about the creation of the movie and her career (of sorts). She seemed happy that MST3K did the movie and enjoyed the episode.
Haven't watched the Invasion USA extra yet.

It's a joke based on the number of times it's been re-riffed (both Rifftrax and Cinematic Titantic did another riff).
