Skyroniter, if you saw the above clip that I linked from the Anthony Cumia Show, you might also like this. And after you are done with that, check out this. I am also very fond of this one. Heck, just watch them all if you are a CQ fan.

I have not just yet, but was planning on it. Ant's my favorite. I believe that I've read on another thread that you signed up to The Anthony Cumia show, how is it so far? I saw that he had Norton on there already, Colin Quinn too, so the guests are coming aboard the new show. I haven't canceled my Sirius/XM yet but I likely will if they end the show in October. I like Ron and Fez and some of the music stations, but I can't see myself staying aboard without the O&A show, especially sans Anthony. Since you are a Anthony Cumia Show subscriber, I assume you've seen this already lol. link

Excellent clip lol. I can't believe I didn't see that one. "IM LEAVING!!!" lol. My favorite part is right in the beginning, "Can I take my portion home and smoke it later….without you."
Yeah him and Seinfeld on Comedians in Cars was good too. Him sharing his love of the 3d IMAX logo while he was stoned, and his whole routine of buying tickets online so he didn't have to deal with face to face conversation.
Joel did a Comedians in Cars with Jerry too though I'm sure you already know that considering this is a MST message board.
Louis' standup was awesome live. He dealt with a heckler in an interesting, Louis-like way too. A guy was yelling things at him right in the beginning of his routine and Louis just told him "You can stop yelling stuff at me, because I'm not gonna acknowledge you at all." It was a great night, my brother's the one who turned me on to Louis and O&A all those years ago.

And I agree with you about holding players responsible for their actions, but you have to remember, and if you've ever played sports, you've seen this, where the star players get away with things that scrubs and backups can't. Soooo true. When I was in high school we had a quarterback who was phenomenal. He used to spend the night at the head coaches house sometimes and the coach even let him borrow and drive his Expedition on occasion. Can you imagine if a story like that came out today? It would be considered highly questionable lol.

I love Louis C.K. my brother and I went to watch his stand up act a few years ago at the Mahalia Jackson theatre here in New Orleans, he was great.
I never watched Louis yet for some reason, have to make a point to check that one out.
My favorite moments with Louis C.K. is his old appearances on the Opie and Anthony show before he was as huge a comedian he is now. Him just sitting around and joking with Opie and Anthony and the other comedians on the show is priceless to me, even better than his standup act which I love. Its just such a casual atmosphere where his hilarity really shines.
One of the bits he was involved with on the O&A show was called "Slave Girl" also starring Patrice O'Neal and a young, silly intern named Francine. Its hilarious and can be found on youtube, but be warned, its quite vulgar and definitely not safe for work lol.

Apparently it was the Ravens who lobbied Goodell for the two game suspension, which of course he got. As more and more information comes out, I think it's just going to get worse and worse. Roger Goodell seems to have no idea how serious an issue domestic violence is, I mean, I have a sister, and I know how I'd feel if that was her getting knocked out in that elevator. Did you happen to hear the press conference he did on Friday? They broadcasted it on the radio live, it was pretty bad. He wants everyone associated with the NFL to take a course in domestic violence within the next 30 days. Sure, its a nice sentiment, but its kind of late for that. Anyway, I think that those involved in such violence are aware that what they are doing is wrong, but because of alcohol and/or vicious tempers, they go and do it anyway. IMO the courses aren't going to hurt anything, but what they need to do is take accountability for their players criminal actions and react harshly when stuff like this occurs. If they keep letting people off soft they're going to get the idea that nothing is going to happen to them.

Yes his books are fascinating. I like how he blends actual history and historical figures into his alternate history scenarios. I recently started reading some of the earlier books in "The War that Started Early" series and I've already read most of the "Southern Victory" series. My favorite of his is the "Worldwar" and "Colonization" series, I've read them all besides "Homeward Bound", very good books imo.
Any Turtledove or other authors that do alternate history that you could recommend, Crowfan? I'm always on the lookout for something good to read. I like Dean Koontz too, btw, so any of his that someone could recommend would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Not a riff but I found the whole, "Why Study Industrial Arts" short to be very informative. High school kids should still have classes like this, I think some schools still have these programs, but mine didn't

Every so often, if someone's lips were near Servo, he would spring up a little to reach and make kissing sounds. I forgot about that, its hilarious when Tom does that. IIRC he does it to Creepy Girl and one of the young ladies in "The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed Up Zombies".

So that is the pattern you see emerging? I haven't watched Leech Woman yet, but Girl In Gold Boots is a favorite of mine. Is Leech Woman the one where the woman is murdering everyone so she can stay young? I did watch some of that but didn't finish it. I'll have to revisit it soon.

Lol I only recall the host segment from "Beatniks" where Joel and the bots refer to the characters and their traits/actions from Beatniks, and say "if you do such and such, you're NOT a Beatnik."
I started watching "The Rebel Set" last night after reading this thread, but I fell asleep early on, before the heist even starts. Its been awhile since I've watched Rebel Set, I might give it another try tonight. That weird flute music in the authors apartment is hilarious though, very Beatnik lol.

looks like an interesting series - i love historical trilogies. i'm anxiously awaiting ken follett's last installment of his century trilogy, which involves families from all over the globe. it begins with the first world war, the second book was about wwII and this last one is about the cold war, the vietnam war, the assassination of jfk, civil rights, etc. follett is an amazing writer; i've read several of his books and they never disappoint me. in fact, his massive book the pillars of the earth is in my top five favorite books of all time. i bet crowfan has read north and south as well. that's right up crowfan's ally. Same here on historical trilogies. Especially when they are written from the POV of characters all over the globe. This isn't exactly historical, more like alternate history, but have you ever read any Harry Turtledove? I wouldn't say he's groundbreaking in his writing but I can't help but love his "Worldwar" and "Colonization" book series. It's history and science fiction merged. An alien invasion in the middle of WWII and the aftermath of an uneasy stalemate between human and alien powers. It is written from the POV of families and characters all over the globe with different ambitions, nationalities, etc. and how they are coping with the war and the subsequent occupation. It's easy to read and very fascinating if you enjoy science fiction and 20th century history.

Yes, I've read North and South. I enjoyed it more than the mini series, which wasn't bad, but somehow I prefer the books because you can imagine the scenes in your head. I agree about the imagining scenes in your head, that is the main draw of books to me when compared to movies or television series based on said books. I was completely unaware that there was even a mini series based on the books until I googled it a few days after I started reading. I was talking to my mother on the telephone and she asked me if I was reading anything at the moment, we are both big readers, and I told her about North and South, and she said she heard of it but never read it, as she isn't into the history stuff as much as I. When I discovered the existence of the mini series, I assume this is why she remembers the books even though she hasn't read them. The mini series is over 1000 minutes! I think I'll end of ordering the DVDs when I finish the book series because I need something new to watch and that ought to take up the better part of a year before I watch all that lol. The only problem I have is that I accidentally discovered a few spoilers from reading about the mini series and how many changes were made from the books, as is expected, but Elkanah Bent as a Southerner instead of a mid-Westerner?? That seems to me like a very huge change. Though I look forward to watching Patrick Swayze in his portrayal of Orry Main. Like you said, crowfan, you get an idea in your head as to what is taking place and to what the characters look like, and Patrick Swayze is the last person I had in mind while envisioning what Orry Main looked like lol.

Currently reading North and South by John Jakes. I recognized the title and knew this was a pretty popular book, but I hadn't heard anything about it from anyone, never read any reviews or anything like that. All I knew was it was a Civil War epic.
First couple of pages and I am hooked. I'm about 3/4 through the first series of stories and I can't seem to put it down. Such a good story. That Cousin Charles is a hoot, definitely my favorite character thus far.

And now Adrian Peterson's thrown his hat into the ring.
Isn't Goodell a lawyer? Shouldn't he know better than to allow this type of thing to go on without some serious repercussions from the leadership of the NFL aka himself?
It really shows you how much of a greedy jerk he is, allowing Ray Rice only a two game suspension after seeing the video of him abusing his old lady. Of course you don't want to cut your big name player on your big market team. it's pitiful.
Look how they did New Orleans, a decidedly small market team, not as big of a money maker as a New York or a New England. They took a pay for play incentive system that every team in the NFL had some form of at some point, many players, former and current, have stated, and vilified it and called it a "bounty system".
They banned Coach Sean Peyton, GM Mickey Loomis, and several others for the entire season over this nonsense. But Ray Rice can beat the hell out of his chick and get suspended for two games.
Goodell needs to go no matter what, this is despicable. And I don't just say this as a vengeful New Orleans fanatic, I say it for the sake of keeping things in perspective on this guys lopsided track record on how he handles things in the organization.
