Yeah I don't like the way The Rebel Set portrayed beatniks, that was nothing more than a stereotypical, Hollywood caricature.
I like the real beatniks, those are my idols. People like Eddy Crane, his main squeeze Iris, and his partner in crime Moon, those are the real Beatniks. Singing in diners, demanding Ham Sandwiches from Charley(Gus), and shooting fat barkeeps. That is the kind of behavior I expect out of a real Beatnik, not that Hollywood nonsense from Rebel Set.

It's a good episode, but I'd have to say, probably THE most depressing MST episode ever. Nothing goes right for Marvin, and such a downer ending. At least I Accuse My Parents ends on a somewhat positive note. Jimmy gets put on probation, sure, but he avoids prison by outing his parents as uncaring, uninterested individuals, plus it seems he ends up with the buxom blonde night club singer in the end too.
But watch High School Big shot again if you get a chance, some great lines in that one.
Marv's Dad: Got that new job coming up soon, son.
Servo: Gonna be the town drunk!!!
Lmao!!

Did anyone mention Mike's tiny swim trunks in Horror of Party Beach? As the bots writhed in discomfort Mike waved things at them that really, really should not be waved at robots. That is a hilarious segment!!! Mike: "IDK, maybe its the dancing??" Crow&Servo: "NO, NO, NO!!!"

Not so much of a subplot, more of a sarcastic remark, but the idea that the Spy Agency in Agent for H.A.R.M. doubles as a string art gallery.
And in Final Sacrifice, when they speak of the movie turning into a regular television series, with Rowsdower and Troy going on adventures and getting into cultish hijinks every week in a serial format, "Zap and Troy, the Legend Continues…"

That is one of the things that I love about MST, I can watch an episode that I've already seen years prior, and laugh at all the jokes I've either forgotten about or just didn't understand/get the reference the first time around.
For instance, I started watching Dragnet (the B&W one, not the 1970s one) on netflix, and literally a couple days later I saw an MST episode with a man banging a hammer on something and Crow kept saying, "Mark VII productions, Mark VII productions."
Another selling point is the length of episodes and the long run the show had in general. I can watch part of an episode and not finish it, and go back and finish it later, possibly much later on. This is the only show that I watched as a young child that I still watch today. The only other show I watched as a kid and can still watch today is Seinfeld, but I've seen every episodes many times over so its not the same.
There are still fresh MST episodes that I've never seen and I have been watching since 93/94.

I definitely share in Mike's enthusiasm for Girl in Gold Boots. If I hadn't seen the MST version and it was on TV, I would probably find myself watching the entire movie. I like those trashy 60s movies about crime and drugs (Who would have thought that the sex and drug industry has a seedy side???). The girl who Critter and Buzz lusted after was quite attractive as well, especially in that dress provided by Critter's sister.
Another type of movie typically featured on MST that I very much enjoy are the post apocalyptic, totalitarian government, sci-fi movies. I am of course referring to titles such as Warrior of the Lost World and Escape 2000. Back when video stores existed, I would rent every one of these I could find at my video rental store.

Who makes the better criminal? Marvin from High School Big Shot or Jimmy from I Accuse My Parents. Both decided at a young age that they needed mob ties, and they were both trying to impress the coquettish young ladies in their lives.
But which one do you think is the better outlaw? Jimmy obviously dressed the part better, but Marvin seemed to have better connections, particularly the well-spoken, master safe cracker.
Both had terrible home lives, but I think Marvin definitely had worse problems at home. Jimmy's people seemed to be doing much better financially and had much more fun with their alcoholism than Marvin's depressing father. Jimmy's dad was constantly giving him money: on birthdays, after winning essay writing contests, and just whenever it struck him. Marvin, on the other hand, had to split his last six dollars with his deadbeat, drunken father, just so his dad could attempt to woo some widowed floozy that he may one day leech off of as he has been leeching off his large-lipped son for so long.

My favorite dishes he has in rotation are his Indian butter chicken (we've had friends over and fed them this, and it is LEGENDARY), Hungarian paprikash, Italian sausage lasagna with homemade noodles, Thai crab soup, and Swedish meatballs. He also makes a pretty mean gumbo, since he lived in New Orleans for many years.
He looks really familiar, how long ago did he live in New Orleans? I'm from N.O. I lived here for my entire life, I think you said he just likes to cook, but did he ever work as a chef in any NOLA restaurants? I've worked in a few when I was younger and I used to go out in the French Quarters after work in those days. Did he ever hang out at the Whirling Dervish or the Dungeon? He looks like the type that would frequent such establishments. I doubt I know him its just he looks quite familiar. The cool thing about New Orleans is its a medium sized city but for some reason it seems intimate enough that you can get to know people and recognize them when you hang out in certain areas and certain places for long enough.
I don't party and go out very much anymore but I used to, typically three times or more a week. My girlfriend was a bartender on Bourbon St. and I worked on St. Louis at a restaurant, so we spent a good bit of time in the Quarters in those days. This was around 2003-2008 by the way.

They could be unreasonable and somewhat cruel to Joel as well. Like the time in Eegah when they hooked him up to that machine to make him look like Arch Hall Jr. You are correct, it is much more commonplace and apparent with Mike though.

What is it in reference to when Joel and the bots start drumming and humming some up tempo music sometimes whenever the camera lingers on an office building. They've done in more than once and I don't get the reference.
I don't know if its the same reference, but I watched Prince of Space last night, and Crow does something similar when the camera lingers on an office building, though he wasn't humming the same tune as Joel and the bots used to, so it might be a completely different reference which I don't understand.

I've been trying to remember a particular episode for awhile, I wonder if anyone might be able to help.
I'm pretty sure the movie was black and white, though not 100% sure, and that it was a Joel and Trace episode. There was a joke in it by Crow about how the music in the movie was mocking them.
The music sounded like when little kids mock one another by saying "Na, Na, Na, NA, NAAAA, NA" For instance, "NA NA NA NA NAAAA NA, You can't catch me!!!"
Anyone remember that one?

I've been a Sirius/XM subscriber since around 2005, I wonder what is going to become of Opie and Jimmy Norton in October when their contract negotiations come up. I just can't see them being re-signed without Anthony, and maybe that's a good thing as the show will not be the same without Anthony. I don't visit O&A message boards but the common opinion on youtube video comment sections (for whatever that's worth) is that they won't be resigned and maybe they will all hook up again in the future in a different format, namely a podcast.
I don't know, I'm just sad, I love this show. Anthony seems to be a Mystery Science fan as well. He has referenced MST a few times on the show.

Joel suddenly pulling out his umbrella during City Limits to block the nudity comes to mind.
