One last thing: I didn't mean to come across as harsh towards CT in my criticisms. It's just that I had hoped for something much better in person than was offered on DVD. I had hoped for more energy from the crew during the performance. Josh delivered fairly well during, and his music with the warm-up guy before the show was pretty fun. But for the most part it was just them speaking their parts on cue. Some lines were delivered very well, but most were kinda flat. That said, nothing can detract at all from the fact that I had a great time going to the show. My wife and my two sisters all made the trip up with me, and we all enjoyed it. It was neat being in such a positive crowd, though a few fellas near us had about 3 too many drinks I would definitely go again, and will if they come through the area again (as I would if Rifftrax ever came to the area). Also, I have to mention that I had a kinda neat experience being chosen out of the crowd to receive an autographed Titans t-shirt during the warm-up-guy's performance. So if you were there, you got to see me (Mark with a "k", not sure where he was trying to go with that, nor with the whole "he has a birthday this year" thing, I think it was just supposed to be silly) amble up to the stage like a tool and pull something out of a bag while Todd Karlin (stage name!) was doing his thing. It was kind of a dead-end gag, and I have no idea what the guy was going for with that little bit...but at least I got an autographed shirt out of the deal!

I'd like to see Joel and CT return to their roots.
Joel do some invention exchange stuff(props).
The little dog in 'Legacy of Blood' Looked a little like Nummy Muffin Coocol Butter, would have been nice to have frank link the two shows. "Nummy? is that you?'
I think Josh and Trace should have used Frank as a test case for their own Wasp serum(with incredibly wacky results!!!)
More DEEP HURTING!
What about Gizmonics? Deep 13? Does Jim Mallon own the rights?

Wow, great post, fanliorel! quinnmartin, I think you answered your own question. As you say, it's not that they should be unscripted, but that the performance should feel unscripted. I'm beginning to think that they should go out and find a director that will whip them back into jovial, off-the-cuff, sounding shape. Speaking of cast that you like better now--I've come to find that Bill Corbett is not only a funny, clever guy, but also a really good person. Check out the rifftrax blog (blog.rifftrax.com) for examples of both. I can't disagree with this thought. Although I haven't seen Legacy of Blood yet, so I don't know if the Titans have improved on their delivery. And I feel like a total tool for giving "advice" to creative people, as I am not a creative person.

The trouble with performing this live is that you have NO time or room for mistakes or improvisation. And they've watched the film till they're sick of it, so let them sit back and do the jokes. Because they're going to be fun, no matter what. And what better way to watch a crappy movie than with a group like this? Oh, I'd hate to shoot a group like this.

I wonder if some of the scripted feeling is because of routine. Both MST3K and Rifftracs were(are) full time jobs. Write jokes, riff the movie a few days later, then do it again. You can develop a rhythm. CT is get a bunch of movie, write a bunch of riffs seperately from each other, then get together for a week once every three months and make a bunch of shows. There's less chance to develop a rhythm because its work steady for a while then hurry up and riff. Also, MST3K and Rifftrac have there own studios and CT doesn't. CT has a certain number of hours to finish while MST3K had more flexibility.

It's a shame that rifftrax can never be released as DVDs like CT. Then it would get the love it deserves. Really? Never? We'll see about that

I got Missle to the Moon on VOD because I love the older movies and really like when things are already synced for me, and it was awesome--Fred Willard and Mike were hilarious. I would love to have more movies like that as actual DVDs.

Rifftrac have there own studios While Torgos Pizza is clearing up misconceptions, I should point out that that also isn't true.

What misconception, that Rifftrac is spelled with a c? ;D If we're pointing out flaws in that post, I'll go ahead and point out that I believe that CT is as much a "full-time" job for the CT gang as RiffTrax or MST3K is/was. Their geographic seperation and their current writing process is their own choice*. And, the last I knew, the RiffTrax guys also live in different parts of the count. *Not that I blame them. Relocating is NO FUN.

So does that mean CT is Wings? Either "Wings" or "The Plastic Ono Band," depending on who you thought was the leader of the Beatles. <BTW, this was in response to a post by Mr. Atari WAY back on page 4... sorry, I'm new to this thread! >

This post is an extremely late reply to some anti-ICWXP sentiment I saw a few pages back. Just to set those straight who seem to think that ICWXP would be more valid if they were on youtube instead of selling the episodes- They're not lining their pockets, they're putting equipment in the studio. If you think you can improve a show without improving the equipment then you should evaluate just how much you actually know about film making. You can call them a rip off, but they've already called themselves that. You can make fun of their name, but they've done that as well. No, the premise isn't original, but that's not the hardest part of making a show. It's the long hours of script writing and the props and set designs and costumes and video equipment and audio equipment and spending 14 hours inside of a cramped studio with 5 or 6 other people trying to keep in good spirits while enduring frustrating dialogue screw-ups, equipment malfunctions and the occasional bit of bad gas. ICWXP doesn't ask for much. It's not a $30 DVD with a black and white cover of a show that doesn't even try. It's as much as they can possibly give the fans of MST3K with what little they have to work with. You can grill them for commiting the ultimate crime of EARNING money to better their tribute to a show they love, or you can realise that it's truly not about money. Money just happens to be a neccesary evil when you're doing... doing just about anything these days. None of the guys who make ICWXP are driving around in Escalades wearing expensive suits laughing at the MST3K crew for being an easy road to success. They're just MSTies sitting in their 98' Chevy Cavoliers in traffic on their way to their day jobs, saying, "I hope we sell enough episodes of ICWXP to keep making ICWXP" or "I can't believe I actually got to talk to Mike Nelson". If you think Rikk Wolf isn't creative enough to come up with his own premise for a show then you've obviously never met the guy. ICWXP comes straight from the part of Rikk's heart that adores MST3K, and there is nothing more to it. It just happens to be next to the part of Rikk's heart that adores heavy metal and zombies, as well.

Yes, I'm Rikk's mother. No, I know the guy and I know how much work he puts into it. To say that something would be more valid if it wasn't for money is to ignore the fact that it also wouldn't be possible. To write him off as an unoriginal gold digger just seemed too far from the truth for me not to comment, that's all. I could see how you would think that, but the truth is that it really is an attempt at keeping the spirit of MST3K alive, not to bank on it's success, and if those are the main roadblocks to someone enjoying the show I just wanted them to know that. Some people didn't like the canned laughter in the first episode, some people don't like the theme song, some people don't like the voices or the riffs. Those are all fine reasons not to like the show, but the ones given earlier about financial gain and originality just didn't seem valid to me.
