The trailer is terrific. Look at all my sweet, sweet boys! (not to assune the monsters' genders, it's just an expression)
- and I liked the '14 design, but it's improved drastically by giving him the more traditional Godzilla dorsal fins.

^I liked the first anime movie more than many, and am looking forward to the next. I'm gonna watch this next one English dub first, as the first one's dub was great. Since the story featured a lot of visually similar army people saying technobabble it's easier to follow and be invested in it when they're speaking a language you know.
Oddly, it seems lots of folks who aren't typical hardcore Godzilla fans really liked the anime. Folks who are more anime and video game fans, you know? Personally, no matter what you think of the anime I think it's great for Toho to try new things and experiment and I hope they continue to do so. They spent most of the '90s and '80s just trying to make (for lack of a better term) 'generic Godzilla movies' and that just won't cut it.
So much great Godzilla stuff coming up: anime movie #2 on the 18th, the first real promotion for Godzilla: King of the Monsters a few days later at San Diego Comic Con, then of course we have the two American Godzilla films in '19 and '20 and confirmation that Toho wants to start making their own Japanese-produced shared universe Godzilla movies after that... never in history have we had so many Godzilla projects actively in the pipeline.
Then we have Tsuburaya Productions finally winning their copyright case over the Ultraman rights and planning to expand internationally in a big way with their Ultraman Netflix anime next year...
The only classic kaiju franchise still dormant is Gamera. I hope the big turtle makes his return sooner rather than later.

I'm just glad that with the Creature and Invisible Man sets coming out I'll be able to complete my Blu-Ray collection of my beloved Universal Monsters!

Cool! Good to see the publishing stuff start to happen. Weren't there a few books Joel announced about a year ago?

This is gonna be great! The dub is better than the Sandy Frank version, but the added US footage is just... perplexing.

Half as many episodes is okay by me. I liked Season 11 overall, great talent and creativity behind it, but the frenzy of shooting 14 episodes in such a short production time certainly showed in its weaker moments.
Of course, I dislike binging MST3K. I like watching one episode a week or so... maybe I'll simply put on all of Season 12 in the background before I actually watch it so that Netflix will receive one of those little 'pings' that the show is doing well by whatever metrics they're using.

AAaarrghh. Now I'm watching Sense8. I really should just get a life and stop watching so many frickin' shows. A part of me wants to try to marathon Sense8 before the finale airs next month. I've been meaning to watch this show since it first dropped a few years ago but have never got around to it. There's just too much stuff, y'all!

That's outrageous! More than half of my criticisms weren't constructive at all! BA-DOM-TISH!

^ And Shout has many episodes up legally on Youtube - not counting the numerous unofficial uploads on that site.
I like Netflix's selection changing. I'll put MST3K on as background and let it cycle through. I was growing tired of the same episodes!

I had no idea what a King Cake was until someone brought one to work a few weeks ago.

It feels like just as the story's getting interesting the movie ends! There are several interesting plot lines seeded in this story, and I'm interested in what may come next, but as is this movie feels more like an intro to what seems to be (and what I hope to be) a more interesting further story with a few potential twists to it. I might recommend for others just to wait six months and watch the first and second installments. Probably more satisfying that way.
^ Oh, and that monster you can't identify from the opening is Dagahra, from Rebirth of Mothra II.

^The most mixed thing I've heard is that it feels like an Episode #1 instead of a standalone movie.
Apparently it was conceived as a series, but was retooled as three features on Toho's behest.
